Yes, but some won't pay the asking price when familiar with the 10 baht rides elsewhere. The hill is a hard slog on foot.

but you're paying for the premium of door to door service with m/c taxi and obviously much more efficient time wise.

everything with a premium comes at a cost.

Being at the bottom of a steep hill where any WINS or Songtaews are asking premium prices maybe, that has been the detraction for the Pratumnak Beach area there and Wong Amat too.

    Pratumnak isn't Central Pattaya.

there's m/c taxis there tho, right?

  3. Accident 18th March, rep to house to complete paperwork on 19th.

Now, 42 days later still not repaired, i'm told this saturday coming.

No updates with progress / no urgency to get repairs done.

As mentioned above, all shiny and bright while going through the quote and payment process tho.

Would any other insurance companies be any better, i don't know??

    - also note there was not other party involved in accident so no disputes to sort out, i reversed into a tree - oops!

yes, use them each year, 4th year this June.  They are excellent. Good prices, good customer service and trustworthy.  I also have road side assistance with them, I have never had a claim, so I will leave others to comment on that area of their service

They are excellent for what you mention, price / online app / online quote etc.

Wait till you have a claim..

friend rode from Hua Hin ti central Bkk this week, he was stopped 4 times enroute and only the letter he had from bamungrud hospital detailing an appointment got him through.

not sure if he can back to Hua hin.

so i guess you can try for your holiday.

    Interesting, thanks for the info.

Hopefully get some more input from others too.

My trip is purely recreational so not sure how that would go down.

I must say though i've noticed a lot more traffic on the roads this last week than what there was 2-3 weeks ago yet the same rules are in place??? people getting fed up i guess?

I'm glad you agree with me. I was called a "bar stool financial expert" for saying the same.

One of our friends in Bangkok owns quite a large restaurant and a music school for kids. The clients are all wealthy Thai people and the prices of the food and tuition are based on that. I have no idea how much they earn, but she is complaining bitterly now that they have been closed for a month.

Don't these people save for a rainy day?

In my experience the answer is NO, none of them would ever consider saving money, they just simply don't do it.

Majority of thais also have a hard time budgeting or any sort of control with money.

Tell us about it then, perhaps some of us went there 29 years ago.

I've been in it a few times many years ago, never had a problem.

Word is that some of the guys we ex-soccer hooligans from the UK ( london club ) and were also into some shenanigans in Thailand too.

As mentioned they were always polite enough to me on the few occasions i stopped by.

Also note, i never saw any trouble there.

Maybe the man that mentioned this place just did n't like the look of them instead of engaging?

  8. So many reports and rules recently.

I want to go away on my bike, is this possible going between provinces now or not?

Plan to start Krabi and head to Kanchanaburi and onwards so they'd be a few province lines crossed.

Anyone confirm ( or not ) this is possible?

    Thx

I didn't say that I had had something stolen in an hotel. I used to post on Lonely Planet Thailand sub forum and there were too many complaints of theft from hotel rooms.

on multiple online review platforms i've seen very few comments about thefts from hotels here.

I know Thai people that don't make enough to put any aside. Get out of the tourist spots to see reality.

They all have the latest and greatest smart phones, they all have the new models of bikes everytime they come out, these are not essential items and the money spent on them could have been saved.

I don't live in a tourist spot, i've lived in rural Thailand for many years so i'm very familiar with 'reality' thank you very much.

I remember the days when the O&G guys were the biggest dick swingers in town . They wouldn’t give the time of day to anyone and looked down there noses at anyone trying to get into a gig . Good to see times are changing .

I could easily give you the time of day on one of my luxury watches that i bought, not sure of the cost, i was making so much that i never bothered to look at the prices of a lot of items i bought.

Read through the past threads on here and you will see what utter cock jockeys they were . Hopefully the price keeps tanking .

That's a horrible thing to say.

FYI, most of the O & G guys i know ( unsure of dick size ) have made they're money and absolutely minted coz they made more money than they could shake a stick at during the good time so go chew on that!

Infact, i'm spending some of my wealth on buying shares that will make me even more money so what do you think about that??

Have a great day with all the other little people.

"The problem is that it makes little sense"

This is all only a problem for rational thinking human beings mate.

It is the same back here in Aust.  More people are dieing of lung cancer every day (20+) than are dieing from Covid19 a day (2-3) - and yet buying cigarettes and smoking is still legal and has not been shut down.  It is all not rational.

But which Govt wants to be the first to adopt the Sweden model?  The risk is that they get it wrong and the Covid deaths increase, then the media will crucify them.  As in anywhere in world, the media here is very left wing, so the right wing Govt knows they are on a hiding to nothing. They either play it too safe and get attacked for killing the economy, or they open too soon and get cricuified for killing people. Someone once said the media is the enemy of the people - so true in many instances.  But at least the media here can expose corruption and incompetence - unlike in China.

You're comparing apples to oranges, lung cancer is not contagious.
