I just can not understand anyone risking MC use in Bangkok when there is ample choice of public transport everywhere. Taxi service is just about the cheapest in the world. Why do you have to be to the light first or second? AC taxi will only be a few minutes slower and much safer and more comfortable. Living outside the city your own transport makes sense - but not in Bangkok.

Been there - would not wish to return. Lagos in 67 check in to Kaduna flight with rifle to head. Arrive Kaduna for military customs inspector to declare my telephone lens is a bomb. Work there 3 months. Conakry 2 years of work early 80's - extreme poverty (all aid from USSR - which was junk they could not fix like bus that would not run - while they dug the minerals). People friendly but no English.
-
Actually Bangkok MEA came around few months ago to obtain telephone numbers for households getting electric bills - and provided incentive plastic containers for anyone doing. Now instead of a paper bill we get an SMS link to MEA website bill. Not too great when phone is not used for data - bit hard to read the several lines of letters/numbers/symbols to get to website using computer may take a few tries. Bangkok still using old meters. We still using old phone.

Would not expect the amount of FoodPanda charge to key that requirement - but maybe expensive eats or multi payments on same day.

Do cards have Thai address? There are places, like Shopee, that do not allow any foreign cards to be used. Sorry do not know foodpanda policy.

They still have the option to obtain single entry non immigrant O visa and extend for another 60 days before doing again. For those working offshore expect most would have the 400k available in Thailand but if not they likely could get multi entry O visa in home country with show of funds in that country.

A better example with 2 bell notifications indicated - if I click on ChaiyaTH notification bell will no longer indicate any unread and remove the bold from both ChaiyaTH and LiverpoolLou notifications. But this is how it has always worked - just not logical or helpful for readers.
-
Issue seems to have been resolved - that of not getting bell notification. A better procedure with bell notification might be to click on each to remove bold - as it is not if you click on any they all turn bold off so you have to remember which others you have not read. Below is how bold looks on my screen - OK but does not seem the same contrast as before.
-
They do not delete unless you manually do so - but on Chrome they do lose bold once you leave and go back - although there does not appear to be as much difference between normal and bold now (but perhaps that is my dark screen settings).
-
That is normal operation - once you click on bell all new notifications are in bold but once you leave all are set to viewed - you have to go to lowest (first) bold notification and remember what is was and then work back to top. Software believes you have viewed all messages once bell is clicked.
-
Believe the issue has been fixed - notice last reply not only had the normal new reply on screen but is also listed as a new post at top - suspect your notification upgrade also fixed this. Wobblybob commented on Since the upgrade yesterday 5 minutes ago

If I am viewing this thread in a tab will get normal new replies on screen but will not get a notification of a new post at tope of forum. Believe we still got notification of a new post previously. Not an issue if actually looking at thread but if leave to another browser window getting no notification a new post can miss as often return and go elsewhere - but understand if open software likely believe no notification is needed. Just do not believe this happened prior to this upgrade. Nothing earthshaking.

Have found you will not get any notification of a page you have open - only notation of new replies (which you don't see if viewing another tab).

Bacolod Iloilo comparison for healthcare, food, crime
lopburi3 replied to smallchungus's topic in Philippines General Chat
From my reading healthcare is not a strong point anywhere in Philippines (there is a reason so many work overseas). But Manila seems to be the go to location for anything serious, with Cebu a distant second. Iloilo appears to be a good choice for clean environment. As for western food any large city will have the normal fast food options (but few will have real dining outside of tourist areas). -
Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.

But it costs more to keep looking good. -

Actually tried not to spend time there - but was in Beirut for a bit over six months and never noticed humidity that bad - the rockets and rifle fire however was a bit of a concern. -

The heat there is a desert heat (hot oven) - nothing at all like humid Thailand heat. -

Thailand is not Europe. The heat transfer here is extreme to the extreme. But beyond heat the dirt is a real issue - as well as looking like a gangster car.
