Colonoscopy: St. Louis, MedPark or Bangkok Hospital?
lopburi3 replied to Y Chang's topic in Health and Medicine
Hate to bad mouth but my experience was not the good type that most people seem to have received from government facilities. I felt Ubonjoe was doing a great job with visas so tried not to post there much and did not read everything so lost most qualification for posting, but continued to read forum and post when I though it might be helpful - am no expert on anything so posts are varied. -
Colonoscopy: St. Louis, MedPark or Bangkok Hospital?
lopburi3 replied to Y Chang's topic in Health and Medicine
Bowel cleaning at the government hospital I tried to use was a decidedly unpleasant experience (but this was for cancer and Iliad conduit urostomy). Also had extreme pain from cystoscopy by doctor in training. Cleaning involved weekend in hospital eating special "food" and taking serious side effect medications (passed out trying to get to toilet to vomit one drug and others reported same happening to them). Getting cleared by just about every doctor in hospital (including eye tests). Nurses who only seemed interested in your joining with daily group exercise. Open enema (more than 6) on table with view to all ward and visitors. And then me on freezing OR table almost an hour waiting waiting for anesthesiologist to finish a conference call only to be told operation canceled due no ICU room available. And then hours trying to get information on future - only to be told would be another queue of about 4 months wait. Departed and had operation few days later at a top private hospital. And still around 7 years later. -
OA retirement extension

The reason is largest foreign consulates in Thailand no longer issue a letter of income as they are responsible for that letter being true rather than the person in question and as privacy issues often prevent such proof have decided to not confirm any income letters. So in that case Thailand allows proof of monthly transfers as an alternative. -
Your UK source is using correct code for Thailand numbers? Am just a dumb dumb phone user myself.

12w with 1200LM seems extremally high output as Phillips and others seem to be 800-900LM at a quick search. I have never used such bulbs as happy with the e27 base leds so no personal knowledge.

Colonoscopy: St. Louis, MedPark or Bangkok Hospital?

It would be helpful to have a reference - we have been talking private hospitals which are almost always more expensive than government facilities. The mfd101 post was also a private hospital if that was misunderstood. -
New Visa going to Europe

No. -
Not sure the fear of being late is warranted. It has been taking 2 to 3 weeks for approvals in Bangkok and have not seen one report of anyone having an issue if they just wait it out after getting receipt for application. At the worst it could be 2,000 baht fine - but as long as submitted on time and receipt received doubt very much anyone would have such an issue. It is not an overstay.

That explains why Tops supermarket was selling Kirkland items at large discount recently - but then no stock at any price. Suspect rebranding of Family Mart to Tops on top burner at this time.

Just to be sure I am reading right - Tops Club Rama II is closing for renovation starting tomorrow?

Believe most nursing homes offer such.

It was a bit tongue in cheek post - but I stopped using Makro several decades ago as grandchildren were not allowed and no bags or taxi rank (gave up driving as safer and cheaper to use taxi service in Bangkok). At this point, partly due to the Covid years, do almost all shopping online/home delivery - so Tops and Lotus's for food and Lazada/Shopee for other things.
-
Why would you expect as cheap a price at Lotus's? You can take your dog shopping at Latus's - you can't even take your child shopping at Makro (unless they have changed rules). Makro is a big box store - makes sense for power shopping. exercise and price - not so much for conveyance for most of us.

Q about 800k for retirement

If you need the full one year statement it has to come from Hqs so takes few days. They can only print out last 6 months at branch. They can provide normal letter of account balance on request -
Q about 800k for retirement

1. The regular account here is a passbook savings account - but a fixed deposit type can also be used if you keep the 800k in account full time. 2. You need to have 800k in account for at least 5 months so most will just keep it above 800k always. 3. The do have no interest accounts for foreigners I believe - but they also pay interest on my savings account but remove tax (every six months). 4. Should not matter if in same province and easy to communicate with. -
Not sure what you are saying above as have not had any issues with medications bought in Thailand over the many years I have been here - but I don't buy from street sellers. What you buy from pharmacy is real - what you obtain from hospital is real - what you order from the several mail order pharmacy sources in Thailand are real. Obviously if you buy from a social media seller your millage may vary. But in general Thailand seems to be fine for most things. There is an issue with not having enough pharmacists however so perhaps that is what your niece means - most drugs are being sold by those that are not pharmacists and may not be the best choice for what is being treated. But doctors are not expensive to consulate and get better advice.
-
Correct - import requires license. Normally not available to individual. Some get away with small amounts by mail - but still not legal.
-
I seriously doubt they are legal and importation of drugs is illegal in any case without official approval (although some are mislabeled). Mims can be useful if you learn to read it and can sign on (seems to have returned to only medical professionals). But such sleeping pill drugs are normally not OTC and tightly controlled in Thailand.
