Well, that would go against millions of years of evolution. For millions of years, evolution rewarded individuals who cared about how they looked and even tried to improve on that and beyond. This resulted in a greater spread of their genes, better positions in society, and more resources. By saying, “Just imagine how much money would be lost if people decided they were comfortable with the way they look,” you’d be going against millions and millions of years of evolution, nature itself and how society works.

It’s not about alcohol itself. It’s about control of society — to display the control you have over it, to self-check that control, and to demonstrate it to other powers. With frequent military coups, jailing former prime ministers, etc., you can’t expect that the next entity that comes to power will just lift all the bans. Quite the opposite — by tightening and relaxing the grip on something like drinking hours, and then enforcing it, you easily establish yourself as being in control of society, self-check your control, and show it to others. The fact that it’s about alcohol doesn’t really matter.

In the end I just booked stay at Chiva hotel, which is 2 minutes from Bangkok hospital and has own private parking that was 60% empty entire day and entire night I stayed there.

Last month, I was in Bangkok and parked at Charn Issara Tower 1 (left circle on the map — open 24/7, guards on site 24/7, automatic gate for entry, and payment via QR code or cash at the machine when exiting, long term parking possible). My application just go approved. Conclusion: your visa expired, you are in "under consideration" period, you need to do a 90 days report - as "visa expiration date" use the end of your "under consideration" period.

It won't let you submit form with visa expiration date in the past. So I opted out for "under consideration" period end (next month). Over upcoming visa end (next year).

I'll try this. We will see. My immigration won’t let me apply unless my visa is expiring in less than 30 days. 😃 They also strongly encourage that applications be submitted during the final week before expiration. They will still accept applications ~2 weeks prior, but you get constant comments like why you are doing this to them, why you are complicating things, and why you couldn't just come the following week. 🙄

My 90 days report is due 7/10/2025. 20/09/2025 - my latest visa expired 20/10/2025 - until then I'm under consideration for new extension 20/09/2026 - will be expiration of upcoming visa Like I can see a valid argument for each of the dates to be my "Stay Visa Expire". 😳

OK, so it just got approved. Submitted in Monday 21.4 and approved Tuesday 29.4. 😫

In my case it also took 1- 2 working days, as shown above this time it was entire week without response. 😨And time is running out. Immigration office in person is 2 hours there and 2 hours back in a car. 😪

Today, I was at a graduation ceremony in Bangkok with about 10,000 people in attendance. Guess what? I swear to God - I was the only farang there! No kidding! 🫣 Visit any random shopping mall, and you'd think we're carrying this country future on our shoulders. But this really made me think about what level of society the vast majority of farangs are actually involved in and what farangs place is here. 🤔
