Tourism ministry dual pricing proposal for hotel rates
Boomer6969 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, I'll let my wife make all hotel bookings from now on. -
They are not. They are only for solid middle income/wealth. The problem will their enforcement. Thai xenophobic Immigration bureaucracy will take over and deter most candidates. Why do they have currently 3 or 4 long term retirement visas? It is simply history repeating itself, and they don't even see the problem, too dumb, they just come up with yet another visa.

We have the laziest people in the world in our condo.....

Not sure I get you, are you at term and you want 7-11 to rid you of your beer gut? -
I cannot be optimistic, as health insurance is only one spanner IOs will throw into TBI's wheel. Remember what they did to Brits, and others, who wanted extensions based on monthly income. The came up with a totally anal requirement where you had to show 12 monthly identical payments into a Thai bank account. Even if it sounds easy many ended up having all sorts of problems. Most of those were scraping by on small pensions that would never be liable to any significant income tax, but I let you imagine the consequences this could have on pensions of more than 200000 THB a month. Under the current tax law we just cannot transfer larger pensions the year we earn them if we want to stay safe from the Tax office.

Endemic Roadmap Adjusted as Authorities Assess Situation
Boomer6969 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know your science is vastly superior to that of the Lancet, but this looks well written... "Impact of the first year of COVID-19 vaccination. " -
Endemic Roadmap Adjusted as Authorities Assess Situation
Boomer6969 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You should get a booster every time a new strain emerges and your immunity is likely to be too low to prevent acute COVID. -
How long should I wait to take antibiotics again?
Boomer6969 replied to Aina24's topic in Health and Medicine
Deadly thread.. The dinosaurs got extinct because the refused antibiotics and the COVID vaccines. -
Endemic Roadmap Adjusted as Authorities Assess Situation

Fine, my intervals were a bit shortened, more like 3 months. Mostly because I chose to get the shots whenever there was an opportunity. -

This is correct, but not an issue as boosters remain effective. Best is to get one every 4 months. I'll have my 5th shot end on this month.- 28 replies

Cataract surgery prices in Bangkok and Chonburi
Boomer6969 replied to Imua's topic in Health and Medicine
Is this for one eye, or both? And what is monofocal? Is it like correcting astigmatism only while you'd still need reading glasses? Interestingly my doctor at Rutnin mentions cataract for both eyes on her reports but has never suggested I should have an operation. -
I am skeptical, to say the least. I'll stay on my "Thai wife" extensions until I get feed back on the procedures they'll invent to check our credentials. My understanding is that there will be yearly visits to immigration, where they might require idiotic paperwork, especially from those who have they own health plans from their former employers.

Major Thai brewer announces increase in beer prices

Increasing the price of alcohol is always a good thing. Spend the same amount and drink less. -
Australia's QUARANTINE SERVICE FEE INVOICE

I understand your predicament, even though my reply was a bit "dry". Pandemic somehow goes with brutality, and we haven't seen the end of it yet. -
Australia's QUARANTINE SERVICE FEE INVOICE
Boomer6969 replied to ezzra's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
Might be the reason they charge you now, they found out you are neither a resident nor a taxpayer. But what they charge you isn't exorbitant, very similar to what the Thais charged. If you don't pay it won't be a problem until you come back again, but it is highly likely that catch you right at the border, AU immigration is very effective, their computerisation effort started in the early eighties. (My ex worked on that project ????)
