  1. So why is it that we only think of humans, ie Homo sapiens, going to heaven or hell, or perhaps being reincarnated. Is it only Homo sapiens that has a 'soul' or 'energy'? Why?? Religion is a tool to control the masses, or a crutch to allow people think that their next life is going to be better than the sh%tty one they have now. So many religions?? Which one do you chose to be sure you have the right one?? In my working life I killed thousands of my patients. They are all still dead now. As we used to say - if the drug or the black bag doesn't get them, the freezer and then the fire or land fill always will.
  2. Thank you for solving the riddles! You rock! (& no - I am not being sarcastic)
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 33/100 My Time 165 seconds
  4. Having built 2 houses here - my main piece of advice is choose your builder wisely! Our first house, 5 years ago, 1.7Mill Baht for a 4 bedroom 190m2 house. Not premium, but no problems with this one. Our current house - 5+ Mill Baht for 3 bedroom 2 living area 2 storey house - about 230m2 living area. With this build, we had to watch our builder (who came highly recommended!) like a hawk. He was constantly looking for ways to shaft us. Cheaper materials, poor building practices etc - but we called him out on most things, and made him rectify issues. Less than 3 months after moving into our house - he was ghosting us! Not a great issue - as we didn't want him working for us anyway! - and in the next 18 months we have spent another 1.5mill repairing/replacing/rectifying his faults! When we built our separate gym/pool room/motorbike house - we contracted our builder from our first house - have had no problems with this. Don't expect to 'make' money from a house in LOS. Our first house is still sitting empty after 2 years. Thai are not keen on buying second hand houses. Too many Ghosts!! LOL
  5. In my area , I am frequently overtaken by 30 year old corollas held together by duct tape, bog & the power of the amulet! - and of course delivery vans and fortuners...
  6. No consequences for your wife. Some of our cars are registered in my name, some to my wife - but I pay all of the fines. I have never been required to show my drivers licence - only my id. (pink card or passport). AFAIK the 'points scheme' has not been instituted here in Thailand - it is only about making a little bit of money. But seriously, 500 Baht is not much of a deterrent.
  7. Why would she want a 'real' boyfriend? If he is Thai, all he would do is spend her money!
  8. She told you about the German man, but neglected to mention the Swede, the Aussie & the Brit who send her money too. Her business is working just fine. She does not need 'liberation' .
  9. 'another'. ?? are you keeping Aussies captive in your backyard? Are you observing and studying their behaviour?
  10. I gave you a laughing emoji - only because we don't have a flick ewe emoji btw - it is either rudest or most rude - get it right!
  11. a 1.5 metre non venomous python is unlikely to cause injury - although it could attempt to bite if it is cornered or threatened.
  12. I'll give you a tip - don't steal from the tip box (especially under the cctv camera!)
  13. Comedy Gold never ages... and leopards don't change their spots...
  14. hey boys - everyone calm down still kicking is happy with his life choices i am very happy with mine all good - next please
  15. I understand - but $40 buys a lot less in Australia than it does here in LOS
  16. Fair enough. I am in to quality not quantity. I have had a fantastic life - and at 63 , if I turn up my toes tomorrow - no regrets. I would rather live happily here in LOS than fester to a dull conclusion in Australia.
  17. as we say here - 'up to you'. All i know is that my life is so much simpler here in Thailand. (and I don't have to put up with a welcome to country for absolutely everything I want to do - which unsurprisingly made me feel very unwelcome!!)
  18. mmmm. bad luck he is no longer with us. i would have been happy to donate to his go fund me for shooting lessons. too much? sorry , not sorry
  19. Total Nanny State! This is part of the reason why I left Australia - my birth country , and the land I love Thailand feels like Australia was 50 years ago. By the time Thailand 'catches up' - I will be pushing up daisies - so no problem...
  20. All of the above - except dinosaurs - but I have done (and still do) treat many snakes. This was in rural Australia.
  21. Many of the posters here are very quick to attack the competency of the medical staff involved here. If a patient is presented with a possible snake envenomation, it must be observed for clinical signs, and blood tests must be performed. Antivenom is not ever administered to patients that do not exhibit symptoms. This is because there is a high likelihood of anaphylaxis or reaction to the antivenom. Where the first hospital erred here is by not admitting the patient for observation - but maybe the patient wanted to go home? I have treated many hundreds of snake bite cases ( most were successful) - although my patients were animals. This added to the diagnostic dilemma because my patients could not tell me when or where or if they had been bitten!
  22. Depending on the bite site, signs of envenomation can take several hours to appear - as has happened in this case. It is not unusual to have normal blood results for the first hour or more after a bite. After this any neurological or haematological changes will become apparent - eg breathlessness, blood clotting disorders. With the benefit of hindsight - the patient should have been admitted for observation, although I would have thought it would have been stressed that he needed to be observed at home. As it was confirmed he had been bitten - it must have been assumed to be a 'dry bite' - ie no venom was injected. Time showed this not to be the case.
  23. I am retired here. I have a Krungsri Platinum Visa card , 200 k limit. I use it for Lazada/Shopee purchases , and insurance payments mainly. I do not use it when I have to pay a surcharge. In Australia, I used credit cards for everything, and received good benefits, and frequent flyer points. The benefits of my Thai card is minimal. I always pay my card off each month - so never have to pay any fees. There is no annual fee for this card. My Australian cards - although giving me some perks, always had a not unsubstantial annual fee.
  24. This would be fantastic if it actually happens!
