  1. They fogged in my area near Kanchanaburi last week - so they are being proactive. I had Dengue 2 years ago. Bloody awful!! - felt like death! (I think) I hope not to contract it again - as the severity of the disease increases with subsequent infections. You do develop immunity after infection , but only to that strain/sub-type - and there are 4....
  2. Surely the Airport will have to accept responsibility. They haven't got a leg to stand on. Oh, hang on...
  3. Naked Bangkok man sparks outrage for masturbating on condo balcony oh sorry - my bad - didn't read the "out of a slump bit"...
  4. it was actually 4 people sitting in a deck chair - good effort!! sandflies and biting midges also love me! However the issue is not that they are more attracted to some people than others - it is simply that the immune response and subsequent allergic/histaminic reaction is stronger in people like the author and myself. other people will be bitten and have no or very little reaction. sand flees (?) must be a newly discovered species lol - i better do a bit of research on those ????
  5. I don't use my drone much - but it is good to have. I have had a few different drones - standard & FPV (with the goggles) , but now just have DJI Mini 3 Pro. It is small, but takes excellent pictures & video - and has most of the features of high end larger drones. Downside - it is about 30K Baht
  6. I do a little bit of work on our farm - mainly growing cassava - I like to play on the tractor and improve my macro driving skills. I have a large aquarium to tend to, with arowana & stingrays. 5 dogs to keep me busy. I keep & breed tarantulas - currently have over 30 species. Enjoy photography , SLR and drone Listen to music and watch a lot of youtube. Play pool with my wife - she is getting quite good! Have recently moved house, so plenty of landscaping/design work to be done around house. Not too much time to get bored...
  7. Nephila spp. - Orb spinner - harmless. Fun fact - this is a female, the male is only about 1/10th the size of this girl!
  8. Huntsman spiders are not dangerous to you , be happy that they will clear out the odd roach and fly for you.
  9. Hi. I purchased my TEV whilst in Australia - because at the time (beginning of Covid fiasco) with border closures etc - it was the only way I could reenter Thailand. Yes - you still need to do 90 day reports - but on-line makes this simple, and as mentioned before - if you do not leave the country you will have to do annual extensions. I purchased a 5 year visa, so I will top up soon to get my additional 15 years. I am happy to do this because it gives me greater security (!?!-in my mind anyway!) - and means I do not need to go through all of the retirement or marriage visa ????????.
  10. Obviously no sea cucumbers would be harmed during the construction of these terminals…
  11. Okay - thanks for that!! Possibly because I have a 'pink card' & a 'yellow book' - I did not have to show my visa when it came time to renew my license. Cheers ????
  12. Well Done Asean Now - a couple of interesting & fruity threads on the go for a bit of click bait!! ( This one & the one about 'my wife is addicted to gambling' ). An interesting read , and a way to work out which forum members are caring & considerate people. But simple click bait from imaginary newbies nonetheless...
  13. I live near Kanchanaburi - so do not have a Thai Elite office close by. When I contacted them prior to getting my Thai Drivers License, they simply sent me a list of things I need to show DLT in order to apply for a Thai License. Armed with this info - I went to my local DLT office & got my first (2 year) license. I am sure there is no barrier to getting a 5 year license on a TEV, you just have to get a 2 year license first, then move on to a 5 year license after the initial 2 year period. (as I have done).
  14. I have a Thai Elite visa. I am living in Thailand. I am married to a Thai, but I chose not to have "Marriage Visa" - so I don't have to worry about all of the extension palaver with photos, bank balances etc. I have a full 5 year Thai Car and a 5 year Motorcycle License. I have bank accounts with 2 Thai banks. I am not sure where you have gotten your information from - but I respectfully say that you are wrong. The only thing I cannot do is work here. No problem for me.
  15. I worked for 30 years in Southern Australia with beef (hereford & angus mostly) and dairy cattle (as a vet!). In Thailand I could not bare to raise these miserable Bos indicus cattle. In Oz I had several clients with Wagyu, and feel that these insipid looking beasts would fit in well in Thailand! (sorry - maybe my personal bias is showing!) Getting on topic - my MIL bought a bull & a pregnant cow with heifer calf at foot last March (2022) for 25K. After 1 year of feeding, watering, my FIL spending hours every week collecting the bull from neighbouring properties, MIL finally realised the folly in her ways - and sold all of the cattle (now 4) for 21K (in April 23). This probably shows the state of the market - and the hazards of "hobby farming". Personally - I am much happier sitting on my backside watching the Cassava grow!
  16. okay! as an amateur entomologist, I am always interested and open to learn! Yup - these are a form of clothes-moth I am sorry - this has gone beyond boring to the average Joe - but it has really pricked my interest! Cheers!
  17. Yes - it is a case moth (or bag-worm) larva. They are totally harmless. They will feed until they are ready to pupate - generally on some type of vegetation - (varies depending on species of moth - as there are many different species of these guys) . They do not eat dust, fluff or clothes! Interestingly - the female is flightless. The male develops normally, pupates , leaves his bag , then uses his (very) long abdomen to mate with a receptive female in her bag. She will then lay eggs in her bag , the larvae emerge, leave the bag - and the cycle continues!!
  18. very important amino acid - if you are a cat....
  19. You can download the forms online. All are in Thai - and it takes about 30 minutes to fill them in.(for my wife - I am not proficient enough in written Thai to do it) If possible it is easier to go to DLT with the purchaser and get them to sort it out. Easier - but far more stressful , 555.
  20. we had Hitachi inverter units in our last house - 3 24btu units. no problems with 3 years use - though did need to remove rotary fan and clean about once a year. have just installed 4 samsung inverter 24btu and 18btu units in our new house. very quiet operation and work very well. Powerbuy had a very good discount on Samsung last month. All units come from the shop with 'installation included' - although we ALWAYS have had to pay something extra to the installer (from 1500 to 3k baht per unit) - with them citing extra costs for extra plumbing, installation higher off the ground etc.. It still comes out as a good deal. Last week I had a small (9000btu) TCL inverter unit put in my office (5x2.5x2.7). It is whisper quiet and works very well.
  21. My wife had one camera fine - we paid that one.(I was driving) Hooray for us!. We have received another 7 (seven) speeding fines to our address - but it is not us! Some other farang that has his mail addressed to our (new) property - with pretty photos of his BMW 7 series doing the wrong thing. We contacted DLT after first one. They shrugged. Now we bin them all. The system is terminally broken!
  22. Are you itchy as well? or is it just a crawling sensation on your skin? Tiny midges - similar to sandflies give me a hiding here at times - and a single bite will make me itchy all over for a day or 2.
  23. `Yes - Wise is the go, rather than transfer direct from Westpac, though you will still need a dongle as pictured above to make your first transfer to Wise - as they will be a new recipient. I have successfully used my dongle/token for the last 5 years for Westpac transactions performed in Thailand.
