After you register, you are already on the electronic database so no need to stand at a desk and see an actual person. Passport scan, facial recognition and fingerprint scan will happen at the automated gate as usual.

I see this is a positive if we don't have to go to a desk and see an actual person on arrival. Singapore and Malaysia are now so easy to go in and out of using the automated gates. I have been using the auto gates to leave Suvarnabhumi recently though, which made things a lot easier. However, this does also mean that long-term tourists without proper visas may be able to come in and out on ETAs as much as they like, without human intervention. They could of course electronically limit the amount of ETAs per year…

You could add that no member of the Thaksin family have ever completed a full term in jail as well. 😆

It was a case of better the devil you know. Doing a deal with Thaksin was infinitely preferable than having Move Forward in power. Move Forward would have begun to dismantle the patronage network. For high-risk activities such as this, they should be checked and the site risk assessment (if they have one, ha ha) should have identified the hazard of trees falling or earth subsiding and stated control measures to be applied to lower the risk to as low as reasonably practicable.

When will people learn not to go anywhere near these activities in Thailand!?!! Look at the state of the wire rope in that photo! Birdcaging in places and completely frayed at the end with terminations made with grips which are a complete no-no for any load bearing purpose as anyone with half a brain will confirm.
