  1. Seems like a steep fine, but it is a foreigner. As others have said, I very much doubt a Thai would be fined that much for similar behaviour.
  2. Ironically, amulets and sak yant tattoos are probably the only thing they would understand!
  3. They will now get exactly what they wanted, to stay in Thailand longer-term.
  4. Good luck finding even a half-decent journalist here.
  5. Back in the early 00's, the former PM suggested that exotic meats, such as lion, tiger, and other endangered species, be on the menu at the Chiang Mai Night Safari. To attract tourists of course, notwithstanding his cultural origins.
  6. Influential family, friends in high places, paid off the justice system and cops, one of the top cops living (allegedly) at the family compound, attempting to get the gardener to take the blame. Boss remains outside the country now, when it was discovered he was living in plain sight in Thailand in 2017, flying in and out despite arrest warrants. No proof of Interpol Red Notice being issued, no real attempts to bring him back etc. Absolutely correct.
  7. If they issued an Interpol Red Notice, she would be arrested and sent back pretty quick. Easier to lie low and pay the cops in Thailand. Sisaket ain't a big place. Maybe the money ran out?
  8. There is a convicted heroin smuggler in a cabinet position, so yes, accurate.
  9. Those photos look like immigration normally. Last time I entered, a couple of weeks ago, the queue was down to the concourse. No malfunctions then. More and more 'no photos' signs going up, though, in an attempt to save face. Fortunately, I can use Priority as a permanent resident / BOI company director.
  10. BYD cars have a heat pump fitted to compensate for this problem and can be used at extreme temperatures -30 to 60 °C. Thanks for playing.
  11. Strategy: 1. Bring Thaksin and Yingluck back into the fold without either having to spend a day in jail. 2. Stab MFP in the back and neuter them through the courts so they cannot be an effective opposition in the future. 3. Work with the unelected senate to ensure that corruption, cronyism, nepotism, and graft continue unabated. 4. Initiate unworkable and unaffordable populist policies to buy off the electorate and keep them distracted. 5. Revenge on those that crossed Thaksin in the past, including the Buriram Mafia.
  12. New ones are a lot more than that here.
  13. Lie. That is all they can hope for. They don't have the ability or courage to properly deal with the problem.
  14. Punishments like that would be actual deterrents, but are just a fantasy, unfortunately.
  15. They used real bullets against the Reds while Abhisit and Suthep were on TV saying only blanks were being used. The M16's the Thai Army were using can't cycle blank ammo without a blank-firing adapter and they were caught, clear as day, on live TV.
  16. I believe that is to comply with Thai law to cover any sharp pointed object with a scabbard or sheath.
  17. Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Land Rover etc. Yachts? Sunseeker, Princess, Fairline etc. So yeh, Brits do know a bit about luxury probably more than most nations, especially the colonials.
  18. Buriram mafia are now going to feel the wrath of Thaksin's revenge for stabbing him in the back in 2008.
  19. They are often the worst. Thankfully, one more nutter off the road for the foreseeable future.
  20. Shame the 23 poor souls who were killed in the explosion were unable to take that advice.
  21. Interestingly dedicated to a man who's nicknames were 'slippery eel' and 'Mr. ATM'.
  22. Hard to assign blame, as a lack of competence is across the board here. They don't know about right of way and that is often where the problems begin.
