Expats angry at huge concessions in latest Thai visa announcements
Mr Meeseeks replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The point is, is that in the end, it was nothing but a swindle by the Thais. It started off with good intentions and worthwhile privileges, but then quickly turned into another typical Thai boondoggle. -

Sure, and I wish him luck. Reckon he'll get a couple of border runs in before he's stopped and asked if he is working or refused entry on arrival. -

Foreigner Caught on Video Urinating on Busy Phuket Street - video
Mr Meeseeks replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
I see this almost daily on my way to work in Laem Chabang. When you gotta go you gotta go. They must really hate foreigners in Phuket if this makes the news. -
British Driver Arrested in Wichit for Reckless Driving- VIDEO

If they are arresting people for these types of offences, the jails will be overflowing within a week. Luckily, it is only foreigners they target for these types of petty crimes, to extort and make themselves feel superior. -

He also stopped all the visa agencies and immigration agents from issuing visas for foreigners in Thailand. Passports used to be sent abroad while the applicant remained in Thailand. Not strictly legal but very common and widespread. He started the process of limiting the abilities of Honourary Consulates in Western countries to issue visas on their own recognisance. Neighbouring countries were instructed not to issue visas for Westerners staying longer term in Thailand. Overstay fines increased from 200 to 500 per day. Limit increased to 20,000thb. Arrests for overstay increased. Airport tax rose from 500 to 700thb. There are probably many other changes that I have forgotten. It got much more expensive and more difficult to stay longer term within a short period of time. And don't get me started on how he began the systematic destruction of Bangkok's nightlife with his fascist sidekick, Purachai. Dirty little Chinese gangsters that they are. -

20 years ago they started the visa clampdowns. Around 2002 and earlier you didn't need to leave the country to get any type of visa you needed. -

A Non-Immigrant visa allows you to open bank accounts, obtain a driving licence and other privileges that the 60 day stamps and DTV don't support. Also, you don't qualify for the DTV, because you are a retiree, and that is not a category that it supports.- 454 replies

We have a couple of foreign employees who are in and out of the country every month. Both on Non-B with BOI work permits. They have been told by Immigration at Jomtien, that a TM-30 must be done every time they re-enter the country. Just to coroborate what has already been posted. According to Immigration in Jomtien, the Thai person still has to deliver the online report in person, even if you are registering foreign guests online. The whole system is farcical.

30 Cars Stolen in UK Traced to Thailand, Returned to Owners
Mr Meeseeks replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This has been a thing in Thailand since the 90's. Now and again we get a press release about it. Just remember, nothing would have happened without pressure from the British Police and the Embassy. There are hundreds, possibly thousands of luxury cars and supercars in storage at Laem Chabang Port. This is just the tip of the iceberg. -

Good on the Thais for being vigilant, arresting, and locking up illegals without any concerns whatsoever. Deport at the criminal's own expense, if not, they rot in a cell in the IDC. Meanwhile, in the UK, these criminals are free to stay and do whatever they want without fear of punishment. -
