  1. History of bad temper according to the village manager and security guards.
  2. Farang probably had enough of the passive-aggressive nonsense from the Thai manager and security guards and snapped. There's definitely previous between them though, as the article alludes to. The problem is as soon as we do this as foreigners they win.
  3. There has been previous here, as the article states, “He is known among the security guards as a hot-headed person who frequently causes disturbances”.
  4. Some of these insecure and inadequate Thai men just can't wait to have a go at farang. In this instance, it looks like the farang had enough.
  5. On a related note, does anyone remember the flower seller in Bangkok that used to support Newcastle United? He would greet you with 'Haway the Lads' and always wore a Newcastle shirt! Unfortunately, he died a few years back. If you were out in Bangkok on mid to lower Sukhumvit in the 2000's and early 2010s you would see him every night. He worked hard and managed to send his daughter to a decent school and uni. Over in Laem Chabang, these flower sellers are young women in their 20's and come from Vietnam, and the local Thais can't stand them.
  6. It was a few Aussie MC gangs including the HAs and the Rebels. Also, it was far from isolated incidents like this one, it was major organised crime. I remember around 2005, the raids on the MC clubhouses and arrests of the leaders on all channels on Thai TV. One of the top boys used to occasionally drink in our bar in Bangkok.
  7. Forensics are so advanced here, they can tell if there was foul play from the victim's tattoos.
  8. Not condoning the Brits actions but unprovoked? Looks like the village manager went over and was asking for it.
  9. When the Soi 6 guards go to jail for using knuckle dusters and kicking tourists in the head, so should this bloke go to jail for punching the village manager.
  10. That's all Thailand is and ever will be. If you start to assume different, then good luck and God bless.
  11. It's already at that level and arguably worse. It's just better at pretending.
  12. Abusing animals for profit. Kicking people in the face. Jail this disgusting wretch.
  13. Allowing them to use the underpasses would mean they would use it as a shelter when it rains.
  14. It's not mandatory, but it is encouraged.
  15. Indeed. Remember the fable about the scorpion and the frog. Ironically, it is a Russian fable.
  16. The reason many bikes don't have rear lights is so that ghosts can't follow them. True story, told me by a Thai.
  17. There's loads of spit roasts in Pattaya.
  18. I don't fly on them longer than a couple of hours, unless I absolutely have no other option i.e. Sao Paulo to Rio. BKK-KUL or BKK-SIN are the limits of my endurance on them and even then there are other options on bigger aircraft e.g. Thai Airways whihc means better business class.
  19. The driver is still guilty of manslaughter though.
  20. The legal definition of defamation varies from country to country. From Wikipedia. On civil defamation: In practice, defamation law in Thailand has been found by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to be facilitate hostile and vexatious litigation by business interests seeking to suppress criticism. On criminal defamation: Criminal defamation charges in Thailand under Section 326 of the Criminal Code are frequently used to censor journalists and activists critical of human rights circumstances for workers in the country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defamation
  21. This is proper Third World stuff this. Of course he did. Wonder who tipped him off?
  22. But there is a lot of support for reform, which was my point.
  23. Business class short hauls on 737, A319, A320 and equivalent are a waste of time really.
