I try to avoid networking in my work as it's a minefield. I did have to study networking as part of my university course and as I work in related industries I still unfortunately have to deal with network issues on a semi-regular basis. I hope you have an assistant in your role at work.

Why do you think they would have a server on site that had anything to do with interacting with customer data? Are you confusing "server" with "router"?
-
0 is equivalent to 1, is it? And you're dishing out network policy advice???
-
(edit: misquote) The bank would have 0 servers at the branch.

It's highly probable that the person you spoke to (being counter staff, as opposed to qualified system technicians...) didn't have all the details of what exactly the problem was and was just relaying the only information they had been given. To try and extrapolate from such an experience that the bank in question has a weak IT set-up is quite absurd.

There's a different between a source being fake, and having any actual scientific merit. Your "sources" are a bunch of people's apparent recollection of things. I 100% believe that these people believe they had such experiences. Just as most people who think they've seen a ghost, or been abducted by aliens, or that the earth is flat, believe what they say. You do know that, even when fully conscious, we don't have a clear recollection of what has genuinely happened in our past, right? Your default conclusion from hearing that somebody basically appearing to have a weird dream, that includes some recollection of real world events, is that that it must be something to do with an afterlife. Mine is that the brain is just doing what the brain does. If you don't have the critical thinking skills to understand the difference between a good scientific study and a weak one, then it's not a surprise that you're going to be to kind of person who believes in such nonsense. My advice to you is to not going around saying that there's evidence that can't be dismissed when there clearly isn't. If there really was any kind of genuine scientific evidence for something as hugely important as an alternate dimension (or whatever it is you actually believe in) then there'd be funding allocated to research it. That fact that there's not, leads us to conclude (conspiracy theories aside..) that nothing has been found to justify such funding.

@eisfeld has already dealt with the issues pretty well but I'd like to add some thoughts about the resuscitation... I don't see why people wouldn't be able to describe what was happening while being resuscitated, because they obviously actually regain concisness through the process. And once you have regained consciousness, you are aware of what's actually happening. The brain is pretty good at filling in gaps so it's probably quite plausible for somebody to be able to "remember" what happened to them. As for what happened while they were still unconscious.... Is there any scientific proof that we shouldn't be able to remember things happening just because we're not conscious? I honestly don't know but I don't see why your brain wouldn't be able to notice being prodded and pulled about by doctors; between the motivion, noise, possible lighting changes etc there's enough of the body's sensors being triggered that surely some of that could register as a memory?

Last time I checked, which was a few years ago, there was 1 train per day, very early in the morning, and the scheduled journey time was about 4 or 5 hours. The station is not anywhere near as convenient as Hua Hin, but I'm sure there will be the standard selection of taxis and wins when arriving; and of course these days there's always Bolt/Grab.

What will you be giving the Wife or Partner for Christmas?
JayClay replied to Keeps's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think everybody would, if asked, opt for money. I personally like figuring out something I think my girl might like and then buying it for her. The complaints when it isn't what she wanted can be a bit difficult to bear though 😁 Interesting. In all my years here I have never met a Thai who celebrates Christmas who isn't either a Christian, or married to a westerner. New Years Day is generally the day Thais reserve for friends and family gift giving. -
Your generation (yes I do know what it is), the richest generation in history, the first generation to be more wealthy than their descendants, have riped the world lf it's resources, and are continuing to spread hatred. Peace my fruiting arz. I have no idea what the current generation will do. There's certainly a lot of fixing to be done. Will they manage it? Who knows. Because for now you guys are still in charge, still trying to bleed the earth dry for every last drop of anything left. I agree that the current generation aren't likely to achieve much, even if they ever get given a chance. There's not much left for them to be getting on with.

Putin admits heavy losses as EU to open membership talks with Kyiv
JayClay replied to CharlieH's topic in The War in Ukraine
There is actually a proposal to create a two-teir system within the EU. And if anything every comes from it, it very well could be the first point of reentry for the UK. Probably best not to get off topic on that side of things, though... The second-teir of course could also be used to accelerate Ukraine's entry. But I'm sure it would still exclude countries currently at war. https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2022/05/11/what-do-we-know-about-macron-s-idea-for-a-two-tier-europe -
I mean I always take a paper copy of everything as a backup, but I also make sure I never run out of battery on my electronic devices. There are multiple ways to be prepared. However I seem to recall that the evisa document I received specifically said that it does needed to be printed.

Putin admits heavy losses as EU to open membership talks with Kyiv
JayClay replied to CharlieH's topic in The War in Ukraine
So are you saying that member states actually do have a democratic say in the operation of the European Union? It's almost as if the EU isn't actually the undemocratic, dictatorial regime that it's detracors claim, then, wouldn't you say? -
Really?
