Last time I checked an ED visa with all extensions cost around 60,000+bt per year, involved at least 3 trips to immigration each year and flying out the country at least one time per year. The 20 year Elite visa at the old rate of 1m baht worked out at a similar price for much more convenience and peace of mind. Even a 5 year visa at 600,000bt was a tempting alternative.... Around twice as much per year than the ED visa for an undisputably genuine visa with none of the additional hassle involved. Plus the chance to upgrade to the 20 year visa without any financial penalty. At 900,000 for the 5 year option it becomes a lot less attractive for the ED/Voulenteer crowd. The additional 80,000 or so per year could just as easily pay for a nice little 2 month break outside the country each year. But, then, I guess that isn't the target market for the Thai Elite.

Does anybody have any info on the discontinuation of the Honda Click 160 abs model? I went to a number of shops and was told that the model is no longer in production due to "problems", and that if I wanted to buy a new one I would have to wait until next year. I' interested in what these "problems" are. If it's just a parts sourcing/manufacturing issue, I may consider looking for a "nearly new" 2nd hand model. However if the discontinuation was, for example, a safety recall, I'd obviously want to avoid that option. I can't seem to find any English language information on the issue online.

Okay so you were being thankful for the advice. Fair enough. Yes that does make a lot more sense now I re-read it.

PM to look into extending tourist visas to 90 days
JayClay replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You need to arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure in each direction. Plus you need to travel to the airport in the USA, from the airport in Thailand to your destination, back from your destination in Thailand to the airport, and back from the airport in the USA to your home. Depending on how far you live from the airport in the US, and where you are staying in Thailand, all that added together could easily add up to another day or two, especially if you're not able to fly direct. -
There's nothing about owning/renting a condo which precludes somebody from also getting a cancellable Agoda reservation... I wouldn't count those particular chickens.... Every time the government issue an announcement that seems to be beneficial to long-term stayers, people get excited. Then a bit later the full details emerge and disappointment creeps in. The METV visa itself was a case in point. People were extremely happy that a long-term, multiple entry visa was becoming available again after ghe cancelled of the double and triple entry visas. A few weeks later the details were announced and it came with both the financial requirements, and the requirement to apply from your country of residence, making it far less useful than it originally seemed. 90 day visa exempt stamps sound nice, but who knows what additional "tweaks" may be applied at the same time? Maybe they'll also decide that 1 visa exempt entry per year is enough for any holiday maker so bring in that restriction at the same time...

Well it's either a reading comprehension issue on my part or, alternatively, you failed to properly explain what exactly your issue was. I'll tell you what, I'll do you a deal.... If you have another attempt at explaining, I'll have another crack at trying to understand. Can't say fairer than that.

The waitress pointed out a local regulation, presumably so as to prevent either you or the establishment having an issue with the police... And this upset you? And how does wanting to buy a pad krapaow turn into "ding, dong farrang"? Were you intending to pay significantly more for your krapow than a local?

Lonely Planet Thailand Guide -back in the day.

I used it quite heavily on my first trip. I bought an updated edition for my second trip but didn't use it as much. I always remember when meeting people if they wanted to recommend a beach, restaurant or some other attraction you could always just ask "is it in the book?" and they'd know which book you were referring to. -
How to meet genius girls in Thailand
JayClay replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
On the contrary, you should absolutely look for a girl "beneath" you. You clearly have a belief that you are some kind of supreme intellect and even a mildly intelligent girl, never mind a genius, would eat you for breakfast and spit you out. The only way to keep up your illusion is to date down.- 181 replies

Was the embassy built from imported materials? If so, it was a bad example. Sorry about that. It was an example that I picked out on-the-spot. Choose another embasy that was built from local materials and apply the same rule, then.

wise ... problem credit card ?
JayClay replied to ifmu's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
There's nothing in the post you quoted which indicates this is a wise-specific issue. It looks like generic credit card fraud. -
I'm saying that a restaurant selling western food is not a Thai restaurant, regardless of where it's located or where it sources it's ingredients from. And if you cook a pizza from food sourced here, it is not a Thai meal. In very much the same way that the Australian Embassy in Bangkok is not a "Thai embassy".

Go into advanced hotspot settings. If broadcast frequency is set to 5g, then switch it to 2.4g and then your older device should be able to connect.

Not necessarily, no. What a strange question.

What is the point of your post? Somebody had a credit card fraudulently used? That in itself is hardly news. -

He "singled out" married Thai women as that's the subject of the thread. It would have seemed a bit strange to say "[all] people need to grow, even lesbian mechanics" when the OP isn't married to a mechanic, lesbian or otherwise. -
How should I deal with a very persistent Thai male?
JayClay replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Doesn't seem much of a con. Bob doesn't fancy his wife. He does, apparently, fancy this guy's wife. So a wife swap would seem to be a perfect situation for Bob. As long as we're all ignoring the elephant in the room, of course... -
I don't know the science so I'll have to assume that's correct.
