But those things you aspire to are not in Thailand much e.g. environmental protection and social programs and safety nets. Thailand is certainly economically right wing with a veneer of buddhism to soften things up. Most thai people seem to wait for luck from buddha rather than government to help them get on their feet. Limited worker rights. Limited freedoms to speak up. Health and some schooling is ok but economically pretty damn right wing.

Could reverse your hypotheses and say when you return to Australia would you happy if they: lowered higher income income taxes got rid of or limited the social security for unemployed, the aged etc; got rid of medicare and introduced userpays health care; free schooling limited dramatically; less money spent on infrastructure, many more potholes, dodgy wiring, etc pollution in the air, dirty beaches and rubbish all over the place ridding of rules on controls on types of businesses - dodgy builders, electricians etc much more free to ply their trade, consumer protections much more limited, can't call out bad service. Often the right wingers like some forms of socialism and government control when they benefit.

So she'll be transferring land to the peasants and nationalising the banks as Lenin wanted. Should be interesting.

Probably been said but most posters I see here aren't that left wing at all... centerist on Australian terms .. just normal ... wanting normal things like schools and health etc paid for by taxes.. and looking for smart capable leaders who accept important norms like election results and therefore anti Trump. Comes from common sense rather than some extreme liberal ideology as some think.

How do you know as you were vaccinated at school. Remember that? When getting a vaccine was non controversial and sensible? If you're getting anti vaccine as a whole you know you've got to step away from the internets.

That's all good of course. I actually was impressed with him in the past as he seemed clever and direct. It's that now he's a VP proposition some of his views and policies are getting focused on and they are not all good and a Buttigieg strength is focusing on such in a fairly down to earth and sensible manner. His appearance on Fox recently nailed it too as has been discussed.

They'll treat you based on how you act. The passive - or the aloof - or showoffs - or those trying too hard to be nice or fit in - will be seen as such and some will take advantage of that. Others wont. Not sure thais do it more - maybe people with less money or with tough lives do it more.

A lot because of covid. You can dampen the world economy, travel, interaction and guess what those things are more likely to happen. All the spending and trade difficulties left a mess for the next guy.

I think covid was for some a nightmare scenario come true. To me it was handled ok with some definite mistakes - to you maybe a huge overreach. A lot more people would have died if nothing was done. We might differ on how much should have been done. I just can't see democrat policies that force you to shut up, or put you in jail for your thoughts, or don't pretty much let everyone do their thing. There may be individual lefties who get a bit full on but those on the right can be pretty bad too on pushing their agenda e.g. religious ideals. I think riots are bad and the protests at the Capitol were bad and both perpetrators should face justice. I just don't think the two are the same in terms of the potential impact on the country as a whole. A riot where there is mainly property damage is serious but attempting to stop the progression of the correct outcome in a US election is hugely serious and I think Trump did wrong and some of the protesters did wrong and should face legal consequences.

He's one of the braver democrats ..taking it up to the Trump supporters and enablers on Fox and telling it like it is.

But your assumption is that 'lefties' - presumably all people leaning towards Democrats - said this was the case. Some might have. Some who had a social media presence might have. The rest - likely 99 per cent - had no opinion either way. You might think lefties are an amorphous mass whereas the lefties you don't like maybe are a few on the extreme, more likely to be young, and some others.

Well according to the quote he did call him an idiot and reprehensible so I guess you now concede that. The Hitler thing that was as I noted above - that he might be America's Hitler. During the 2016 presidential election, Vance wrote that he goes “back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical a–hole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad and might even prove useful or that he’s America’s Hitler.” If you google it you'll see there's a fair bit more in written form including in tweets he liked.

I appreciate you don't love the so called mainstream media but you need something other than right wing media to get the full story. It will be sad if you don't post here. It was one of the best things on this site if not the best. Many seem to back your decision but I would note that if someone has controversial opinions - e.g. if children should take a particular vaccine or whether vaccines work at all - I think it is reasonable that such claims be backed up with evidence as they are potentially dangerous - even if the status quo opinion could be wrong - or the audience is relatively small and made up of older expats that are not likely to act on the advice. Other controversial topics you may cover, such as the reality of the moon landing, could have less control because it has no real world implications. You could be the family guy on this site and the searcher of the truth on more appropriate sites. Since both sites are owned by the same parties the outcome of your protest may have little real effect but to result in a smaller audience for your entertaining posts.
