Australian Aged Pension
Fat is a type of crazy replied to VOICEOVER's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
I think this discussion has been had - I have posted a thing before - can find it if wanted - that appears to say there is nothing in the Double Tax Agreement to exclude the age pension being taxed by Thailand. You seem to be saying that the Age Pension is paid to residents by definition - and if you live in Thailand but are not a citizen of Thailand - you are excluded. If you can point to something that says that it might be helpful. -
Trump vs. Taylor Swift: A Battle He’s Bound to Lose
Fat is a type of crazy replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I don't know. There may be some normal swing voters out there who hear about this and think - maybe not Trump as the leader of the free world. -

I hope after you've watched them you read reviews that dispute their contents and then ask yourself if the claims amount to something worthwhile. -

Funny. First time he's gone down that track and you praise him as if that's the norm. You naughty troll.

This is a perfect example where you need to think things through. As I have mentioned in other posts targetted tariffs where say China is assisting exporters so that the sale price in the US is not fair can be a reasonable retaliation by the US. But a blanket tariff as Trump has proposed is straight out protectionism and isn't consistent with the age old Republicans mantra of a free market. It can lead to significant inflation and a distorted market. Has Harris copied this. Of course not.

Tariffs and foreign policy are 2 examples that have been criticised by me and others regularly. Best not say things in absolutes like 'never'. How is Australia falling apart by the way. I agree Americas's economy is stronger than the UK and Australia and Biden gets to take credit for that.

You brought up election fraud though. It is pretty central to Trump's whole presidency too. Thanks for the links I saw them posted now. It's not about being inept in searching - every election will have an issue here and there - it's to be in a position to be able to say these issues really - and in fact verifiably statistically likely - had the capacity to result in a different winner.

But there either is verifiable evidence or not. If not really ask yourself why not. Others have explained the lengths gone to prove it and they came to nothing. Don't be like that pillow guy years later carrying on about fraud and the evidence will be out shortly kind of thing. It doesn't end well nor do much for credibility.

You the man Lou. If there's a trivial point to be made you'll find it and make it. -
Honest Question: How is Trump a 'threat to Democracy'?
Fat is a type of crazy replied to diceman's topic in Political Soapbox
Lots of reasons not to like Trump. The threat to democracy comes from: his lack of acceptance of the outcome of last election culminating in January 6 and the other pending court matters e.g. Georgia. If someone doesn't accept when they lose is that not a sign something is up and very wrong. He still apparently doesn't accept it; the sense that he and those closest were actually to dumb and lame to find an effective pathway to being dictator last time e.g. fake electors but this time he is likely to take further steps to attempt it if necessary. The Project 2025 is a concern - too many Trump people involved to ignore it e.g. replacing many government workers with those who pledge allegiance to Trump. He says not involved - I believe him - he's not smart enough to come up with such stuff - but those who have his ear likely are; his approach to dictators who don't believe in free and fair elections. That's a start. But there are many other things I don't like about Trump e.g. he simply isn't smart in terms of policy.- 239 replies

One of my favourite lies of all time was straight after the debate when he talked to reporters and started saying how polls showed he won and he started pulling numbers who said he won from nowhere 90, 62, 70. Funny. Almost cute. Sad.

Be interesting to see how much additional supply he could muster given significant increases of production under Biden's watch, then there's the lead time for production, and the fact that this is one input only in the cost of a good. I have noted before he's talked of making interest rate policy less independent - keeping them low - this could lead to inflation . Then there's the tariffs too.

Be nice for you to expand on this with a link and such.

They are paid for by the importer and likely passed on to consumers. They do raise money for the US government. As you say though I can understand specific tariffs where an imported product receives unfair govt support from their country - so they can sell below a reasonable cost - but such a broad based tariff seems odd and likely lead to significant inflation.

Before July 1 2017 you could claim the reasonable costs of visiting a rental property overseas. That was pretty good. I never had one but it would've been a good gig now to buy an apartment somewhere and claim part of the cost of visits overseas. If you could show there was a course in innovative ways of cleaning that would clearly result in much higher income as say a sole trader you might have a chance. But no.

But this is a perfect example of bad politics. They are trying to write laws with a bit of subtlety to deal with rare and difficult situations with some discretion for a reasonable common sense solution. So Trump being Trump summaries it by saying babies can be executed after birth and his supporters say yeah Democrats bad.
