  1. there is a contradiction in reporting - a skull is not a brain: "pierced the officer’s helmet and became embedded in the skull ..., to remove the bullet from his brain" At 1 am there were not any protest. Police went inside apartment block and searching all doors. They were doing it for hours, probably from 9pm onward. Probably upset a lot of residents who couldn't sleep half of the night. Those who fired were not protesters, but residents. Yes, they all hate police operations as much, hate police those protesters. The next day cops went in and arrested 18 residents for interrogation. Probably they have also searched for the gun
  2. he went there to inspect how much money is there to grease his palms. A larger effect on flood situation would be dredging that canal and all other canals in bangkok, to increase flow and their holding capacity. My canals wasn't dredged for 7 years now, probably has now a half meter of residue. Bangkok needs properly designed dredgers, not just floating platforms (even not barges) with diggers on undercarriage. I have never seen dredgers on rivers and canals, only on sea off Pattaya and Jomtien. The work should be done constantly through all year. Dry season should be the best time to do, so they can exactly see the job. I have also never seen dredging of city canals along roads.
  3. no, if you have a very good and expensive medical insurance, covering $100k, you don't need covid insurance. For an upgrade from my existing basic insurance with PP to one over $100k I was quoted 61k baht. Probably they would deduct some 10k from cancelling my existing one, but it would be still a large money to fork out, as I don't need such large cover. Covid insurance you can get from 1500b month, depending from which country you are entering. Some consulates require 3 months, some others only 1 months, even if your visa and extension is longer. Many expats are now extending their stay for 1 year, so if they travel abroad this year, they would need 1 year covid insurance. It's probably worth to get one for 15k for year, because thailand might be facing more waves
  4. on thai yellow pass there are no watermarks, but it's not easy to forge. They use special printer which engraves paper. You can see print and dent on the other side of page. You can even see even indent on the next page. Probably only immigration officers will know about it and use magnifying glass to check it. Pages have also intricate stitch, which can't be easily forged
  5. it's easy to pre-register in online forms, sending email or calling. Waiting time around 1h. In the afternoon (after lunch break) at 1pm is less people, than in the morning. Were you able to convert this yellow pass into european green pass from within thailand or you had to travel to europe? Did you get any proof from consulate?
  6. my consulate wrote to me, that it's not possible to convert thai vax certificate to green pass or even certify authenticity of my thai vax by consulate. They said they don't have anything to do with thai jabs. I have tried to trace requirements for some countries in europe - switzerland, belgium, austria do allow entry without obligatory isolation 5 days, if transiting for 48-96h. They would accept for entry pcr, positive antibody 90 days, certificate of covid 180 days. I have registered for Johnson in my home country, because it's 1 shot it would allow me to travel easily the next time. But I can't enter without isolation. Please post a link to some details
  7. it's only $100k, not 1mln. The cheapest you can get is for 1 year 15k baht. The other ones are charging 1500-2500b month (that depending from which country you are entering). Travel insurance is not required to enter thailand. If you are going to stay in thailand for 6 months probably cheaper would be health insurance bought in thailand.
  8. vax certificate is available only after the 2nd shot. If record still not found tell them exact time, show them any records of communication (sms, mail or even received phone call), maybe even pictures of being jabbed (some people do it for their social media). If all fails do register again for vax but at some large hospital, preferably this which you have already health record
  9. I have registered strait after being second jabbed and getting paper with login details. While waiting 30 minutes I have asked receptionist for little help. That was 2 weeks ago. Keep trying to register, must be just temporary glitch. Try to scan QR code to see your record.
  10. so now it's a choice between 80b per the very same ATK (which I have bought already at bulk at large pharmacy) and 2500-3000 baht for PCR test at health clinics. Those ATK's I can afford to have every few days, so far I am doing them every 4-5 days. Those PCR I won't ever do, before my ATK shows positive and if I feel under the weather. Too expensive to do them at will. Insurance doesn't cover it, unless positive. PCR's in thailand are most probably also made in china, as well as antibody tests (the same company, Lupu, makes them), just for different purpose, and certainly different price. ATK's suppose to be for personal, home use. In the West they are free to everybody 2 per week, or more, if needed. They are good enough as they are. If positive often needs PCR confirmation. But in thailand they are good for starting isolation, treatment and even hospitalisation. For hospital use, for medical personel, probably there should be other, more reliable tests. Most probably there is a choice
  11. I think all internation planes from thailand need pcr test. Vax is about entry to another country - without one quarantine is likely. Some countries do allow entry just with pcr, atk, as well as antibody test positive within 90 days and proof of covid within 180 days
  12. I would test now for antibodies - positive will give you 90 days of entry to many countries in the world, if you need to travel. Those tests are cheapish 700-1500b. A positive pcr will give you 180 days of travel, and very unlikely you will be told to hospitalise or get into hospitel, because it's the end of a mild infection. Those documents would also allow you within thailand, if there are further waves, lock downs. Your illness protects you more than your vaxes, for longer and for many strains. What brand of tests turned negative and positive? I felt sick (and still do) after full day spend at cheng wattana air conditioning and with many hundreds people around. I fall sick 2 days later with very unusual gastric problem (but clearly not related to food) and temperature, sweating, strong headaches lasting for almost a day at each time (but not nigh time, so I was able to sleep well), lose of appetite, enlarged lymphatic nodes on the neck. So I bought ATK's (Lepu brand), both times negatives. Possible that was reaction for the second pfizer, which I had just 5 days before going to CW. But I would count myself lucky, if I really had covid and with only those little symptoms. So I can travel to europe without much hassle and I would claim my large insurance as a bonus (they pay on turning positive).
  13. I see many female seniors on hua hin beach walking alone or small groups. I would think many are alone, without husbands, widows. There are many estates for Scandinavian's, where they can feel secure and have companionship. Some of those larger estates might have carers, a paramedic, nurse on standby. I have also seen social gatherings in the restaurants, with 20-30 participants, so there is a community to give support.
  14. by private transport you can go anywhere. by air might be problematic coming back from bkk - probably vax certificate, minimum atk test. not sure about buses and trains, but I would not rely on them either. Rent as car on lpg, easy, fast, cheap and secure travel
  15. I got today this pass at ministry of health. some 1h wait. I got pass numbered 75k, so not that many people got it so far. There were also many thai getting this pass, I have seen only 2 foreigners. There is no watermark or any serious security, but pages have some intricate sawing stitch, as well as deep print which also engraves on the next page - this can't be forged on any home printer. Probably it's an unintentional future, but if any health or immigration officer in the world is smart enough he can see it's a genuine certificate
  16. so how can arrest and charge 3 people, if only one bomb was thrown. Possibly they were riding on 2, up to 4 motorbikes. Doesn't say anything about protest. Can be from local criminal gang watching their area to revenge at that particular officer for some his policing work (or abandoning his duties - like belonging to a rival gang)
  17. that's look as a shotgun in a residential building. This technique is for serious arrests of mafia members, murderers etc. Should not be used to random search of private homes and without arrest or searched warrant. Existing state of emergency does not allow for it. That's introducing marshal law to the area, must be justified and legalised by court
  18. try different browser. probably temporary glitch
  19. yes, activate it with 13 digit number and your phone number as a password
  20. Pfizer was the usa gift, so not planned by anybody. If not of that very few foreigners would be vaxed. Another unplanned gift was AZ 400k from the UK, which british chamber of commerce helped to distribute all many foreigners. That is why so many desperate people payed for the first lot of moderna. That's why i have payed for the second generation moderna, because the government hasn't planned very little, and for me absolutely nothing. still, those moderna should be kept as a back up. Nobody knows what the next variant would be and how each vax will protect against each one of them. i also do think there would be millions of thai wishing to pay 1650b for a booster, than waiting for their government to plan it for them. those boosters being done now are very limited quantity and for those, who had sinovac starting from march. So time for them
  21. In the news section moderna in november, not october. It will be limited. Some 9mln waiting for 2mln doses this year. yes, some foreigners got their pfizer and will sell off. But as well make arragements with hospital to defer to next year, after 6 months from the last pfizer, so the second batch of 2mln. The government has ordered also 5.4mln for the next year, most probably as a booster for sinovac, sinopharm and az. The best to get now any available vax. Order moderna for next year second generation for 1650b per dose.
  22. tests on some airplanes, other public means also not necessarily safe and sure. Drive
  23. the only checkpoint is at phuket bridge. Just in case take with you some atk tests and do them on the spot. I would do one just before leaving, just to be sure you are clean and don't end up as asymptomatic in a private hospital. Take the very same test with you, write date and time on it, make dated picture of it. In theory there is an online application for inter provincial travel, to be filled on the day of travel. For the sake of it you can do it - just a minute of your time
  24. yes, some 7 sha hotels in bkk and same in pattaya. Possibly there are few more, not listed in that post. But even 10x or more is not enough. Probably there are some rules on max hotel occupancy, allowing for spacing in common areas (staircases, lifts, restaurants, pool, gym, lobby, hotel spa), for proper cleaning, ventilating rooms. In phuket they have sha+ - some upgrade from the basic one. All those ASQ and ALQ can partially open to sandboxers, as they are already sha ready and they will have very few guests just for one floor. It's only matter they are rather upscale, so not for a budget traveller. SHA+ in phuket start from 8k for 14 day, just from 600b/day. I just read in the same mentioned by you thread, that in CM the whole old town and surroundings will be designated for sandbox. I would think similar model everywhere - in the most attractive, touristy part of town (so beach fronts, khaosan, lower sukhumwit and many others in bangkok). In pattaya it might be beachfront up to 2nd road, later Bukhao and then 3rd rd, and similar in jomtien. Probably that would be just enough at the beginning, with every month including further areas, if there is demand.
  25. I am not sure that after 1st november (or when sandbox starts) there would be sha+ hotels and obligation to book them in advance for coe (if that one will also be carried out after opening pattaya). I would think there would be certain area, probably close to the seafront, where you can book to any hotel. But so far I wasn't following this subject, just became interested, because I need to travel out and come back. Would you post or send me a link to that mentioned by you discussion. I can't find it. Thanx
