Putin will not attend the APEC leader’s meeting
internationalism replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
not sure about pussy, but those pectoralis major are rather not from gynaecomastia. How many politicians do have balls to publish their holiday pictures? We don't know yet why he changed his mind. A month ago he declared his presence. Ill health might be one of them. -
it's traditional medicine used in thailand forever, even during the last some 50 years, when it was banned under the usa pressure. I do suspect those doctors are politically motivated, no any other reason. As to those opposition politicians - they will be losing popular support. Strange, they don't realise, they are playing against younger generations

Putin will not attend the APEC leader’s meeting
internationalism replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
looks, like Xi will be at those 3 summits, biden at 2, putin non. There was a chance for biden-putin meeting in jakarta. Biden said in september he is not going to speak to putin about war. At the very same speech he used "Armageddon" expression which in context of sound more like a threat . A confused senile man. Nuclear disarmament talks suppose to start within weeks at yet undisclosed location. They both had chance to start them already now face to face and at the top level and at neutral Asian setting. Those clandestine negotiations are on the low level and take time for approval and discussions at the higher lever. -
It's over for pandemic, but covid will stay forever, as flu and common cold. It mutates constantly and future strains can be as dangerous as delta. So vacces should be constantly developed, as for season flu. Offered for elderly and those with underlying conditions. But pharma doesn't care much about new generation doses. Governments still have large surplus and won't be ordering more, so there is no any pressure on pharmaceutical companies to run research and new production lines.

There was never action on such scale. what prompted it? And what is real purpose? almost 10k arrests on outstanding arrest warrants is impressive. Were those criminals known earlier to police and followed in some way, to be busted at the same time? That would be serious problem for courts to process that many cases

Gen Prayut Can Move to Another Party – Gen Prawit
internationalism replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
no, they are still generals, no harm for them. Likely they have their own "an elephant ticket" scheme, as police do. They are being kept as useful tools for a time. That before time for another military coup. For example electoral defeat and advance of move forward. But they are doomed. An article published just a month ago: "2022 Military reshuffle: King’s soldiers rise, generals turned politicians fade" https://prachatai.com/english/node/10035 -
That internal rift in palang pracharath also means poor election results for them. On leaving that party prayuth can take away the remaining supporters. Prayuth is not worse than Prawit or any other carrier politician coming from army. Both of them are better than Apirat, the unstable emotionally madman. That was also a drift within the army within the last few years, with queens guards losing in process. They are even worse because they are less independent

It's not even public holiday. Everybody will be celebrating but I don't see how they would spend 1900b on mainly food, evening meal. It's not an extended weekend, it's just a normal working day. Why would they spend more this year than in the previous 10 years, when economy, social life and entertainment were on larger scale? That"s not logical.

Gen Prayut Can Move to Another Party – Gen Prawit
internationalism replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Looks, like prayuth is left without party, unless he brakes the PPP. That party was braking for over a year, when flower minister thammanat tried to backstab prayuth during censure debate in september 2021. Thammanat was prawit protege at that time. Thammant was forced to leave, but in the aftermath many top executives left to set up parties backing prayuth as the PM candidate. Prawit made a deal with thaksin for future coalition government with pheua thai. Just the last week thammanat went to dubai, probably to cement this deal. unfortunately for prayuth now not many parties are interested. Opinion polls show some 90% want him to disappear. The aforementioned party stated just 4 days ago, that they are not extending their invitation -
PM wants to see safe Loy Krathong celebrations
internationalism replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Prayuth is overdoing his diligence to pretty trivial, one off issues, which are of small risk to public, to show his caring face, but it shows his militaristic and bureaucratic mindset. He still feels he rules country by decrees and daily command of current issues like on a battlefield. But it's not how country should be run by a competent prime minister. He doesn't see a bigger picture because he doesn't have time to think about it. How officials can inspect and improve piers within just a few hours left to celebrations? Public safety is very important and should be an ongoing improvement, that includes education. But scaring people with warning of stampede or pier collapsing is overkill. -
Thailand’s Interior Ministry considers tighter gun controls
internationalism replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So for driving licence (including for motorcycle) there is health certificate needed, that also includes neurological test, but for owning a gun applicants just need competency certificate. Would this new requirement screen also 6mln gun licence owners? Also if driving licence is only for up to 5 years, would it not be prudent to limit gun licence to certain time? as to stopping proliferation of guns, police should stop selling brand new guns (so not from their surplus) to officers. Those guns are untaxed and well below market price. After 3 years officer is allowed to sell to public, and make a large profit margin. That procedure is done on a large scale, probably in hundreds of thousands every year. -
not as if Democrats ever cared about health. They are conservatives and on a moral crusade. Their move is ideologically and also politically motivated. Some people might end up in emergency after they indulge the first time. They are minor ailments, which will sort out by themselves within a few hours. Nobody is running to hospital after binge drinking - unless they are losing eye sight from home made metyl. Nothing can stop kids from smoking ganja, as much as from cigarettes, alcohol or even yaba. They are readily available to everyone despite all legal obstacles. Ganja will gradually replace all the other substances simply because it's much less harmful, more fun and cheaper (it's grown everywhere now). Kids know it and they will grow up to know more.

from where you got an impression that the vast majority of mp's are against? Bhumjaithai and the PPP will be voting for. Democrats and pheua thai, as well as some medics, started to voice their objection after ganja was decriminalised. They were surprised by popularity of change. As to medics, there is a petition from the chula uni, signed by some 1k. There are some 60k doctors in thailand, so only very few are strongly motivated. There was also an opposition from within the ministry of health, from the department of traditional medicine, which is responsible for permit's registration - looks like they wanted to boost application process. Those 1mln already registered are growing ganja, as many are growing without permit. Some 1mln were given by the government, not enough for all interested. So there was a large market for seeds and clones. Flowers and rest of plants will be ready shortly, prices will fall and popular support will be even further boosted. Some will be support from international tourists, even from those coming from Malaysia. That would make parliamentarians to think twice about voting against - they will be aware of risk at the general elections. If the bill is voted down, there is certain it would become again centre point policy of bhumjathai and give them more votes (at cost of democrat and pheua voters)

What about those mass graves at the malaysian border with some 2000 rohingya smuggled by thai army and then murdered if families did not pay ransom? Out of some 800 suspects in the beginning of investigation only 80 faced music. The main police investigator had to do runner to australia and claim political refugee status, because prawit gave him transfer order from safe bangkok to songhla province at malaysian border, for certain death. That was just a few years ago. Prawit was responsible for ministry of interior.

Articles title is not correct. It's extended families who are taking care of kids, not just grandparents. That would be siblings of parents, aunties and other relatives. Some would be childless and happy to help. Some would have their own kids but getting another one or two kids to their doesnt burden them. The more kids together the easier to take care of them. Kids will also take care of each other. In towns it would be neighbours, friends, sharing care of kids by several families. I think the motive for this research was not about grandparents, because situation is known and stable for always, but about covid influence on kids and families. That is a new factor which changed a lot, have a big impact. I think covid enhanced family life, with more time spend together. Locked down schools and many workplaces forced a better family life. Also work from home. That allowed for socialising and home schooling, quality time together. Same goes for rural areas. Young generation was forced to go back to villages so they reunited with their kids abandoned there. Of course, financial hardship and work desperation are the drawbacks but people have survived. Covid was a reset for thinking about families as moral support. Possibly had a positive impact on demographic with some more kids being conceived during curfew. Alcohol prohibition also had a good impact on family life. That poll was conducted at the end of devastating delta wave, so pollers were under health duress. But from perspective of over 1 year things look not as bad as perceived at time.

I am familiar with thonburi only as for emergency. As to siriraj they have a private wing. Will be slightly cheaper than thonburi. Might have better equipment and care. https://www.siphhospital.com/th/home But even at their general part of hospital they can do emergency operations at weekends - at additional cost, say 50k. I think you should initiate discussion with your doctor about those options. Just to have a better picture

Thailand Follows Gastro-Tourism Trend
internationalism replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
made up need for tourists. Who is going to fall for rice and garlic from a specific location. If they go for fame do ganja theme menu. Punters coming not for food itself but for novelty, new experience -
the only documents required now are passport and boarding card (can be also on application, in email). There is no airplane taking 800 passengers. Max is some 615 on a380 (only 15 such big capacity has emirates), but usually around 400-500, depending on seating. And very rarely airplanes are completely full

Government claims its liquor policy is in the public interest
internationalism replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Looks like Move Forward would make alcohol bill as part of their election policy and will push it at next parliament. Good summary of the governmental order and the voted down bill: "Despite allowing individuals to brew for non-commercial purposes, removing minimum authorised capital requirements, and reducing minimum production amounts for home brewing, factory-scale minimum distillation quantities remain at the same rate. Non-commercial brewers are also required to register with the authorities and provide detailed information about ingredients, brewing methods, and tools used for brewing, unlike the Progressive Liquor bill that had no similar regulations. ... Taopiphop argued that the Ministerial Regulations would still make it difficult for SMEs to find a place in the beverage industry as many procedures still depend on officials in many agencies to authorise licences." https://prachatai.com/english/node/10071
