  1. Great. i hope they can't do it to an international driving licence from abroad
  2. there is another drug approved earlier by fda in the USA. But might give serious side affects, so might not become widely available https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/treatments/aducanumab
  3. why they have stopped their work in January 2020, if there was time to increase their research into coronavirus infection treatment
  4. here is today's article in english explaining in details this new law. It would benefit all large parties. All those micro-parties, which are part of the present governing coalition, would not qualify even for 1 seat. It's easy to buy off such parties into government and many were formed just before election for the soul purpose of using this loophole to support Prayuth and also to take easy seats from the dreaded by an establishment future forward. That change in law came from collusion of pheua thai and palang pracharath, which are the biggest parties and there are rumours they will form a coalition after the general elections. That would work against move forward and the other medium size parties. Prayuth will not have support from palang pracharath and from those microparties. https://prachatai.com/english/node/10123
  5. Deltacron was around already at the beginning of year, so surprising so few recorded infections. I have read it's common in Philippines now.
  6. Her rants and antics, even on Parliament floor, got her reputation of foul mouthed opinionated fool. She cant be prosecuted for what she said within parliament sessions. But for social media posts, which is the case, she can be sued. That guy from khon khen is member of "end it within our generation" anti-feudalist group, part of pro democracy youth movement. So it's surprising that court gave that sentence. i could't find any details on the net what she said, but english translations of this case will appear today. Interesting, that a thai politician, who accompanied pareena, was sentenced for fraud in criminal case and lost his seat in 2021. He was unlawfully elected in 2019 because he hide his past conviction. If that is support, which pareena was able to muster, it would be better off without this questionable politician.
  7. "fairer, easier-to-understand and more transparent voting and counting process." So why it would benefit pheua thai, but not the other, more democratic and more progressive parties? Future forward springs to mind, as a grass root organisation. I would like to hear opinions of those 2 opposition parties, rather than unknown entity party, which probably objected this law and forwarded complain to constitutional court.
  8. but you are not likely having chinese passport, so their excuse is a smokescreen. Maybe malicious tip off from some neighbour who doesn't like you. Immi might visit any extension time, but they haven't bothered with me for the last 3 years (I think they are very busy around October for the last 3 years, that coming from covid amnesty (or whatever they have called it)
  9. coincidentally sinovac was the major vax available in thailand at the beginning, over 50mln were delivered. But not likely that the other popular covid vaccinations act in a similar way. There are experiments with mRNA technology for cancer treatment, possible even for cancer prevention. Would be nice to have covid vaccination with yearly boosters and protecting from a specific cancer or all cancers. https://memoinoncology.com/articles/mrna-vaccines-a-new-era-in-cancer-treatment/
  10. what was a reason for his arrest? not wearing a mask, which is probably compulsory there? I think china didn't have a serious national lock down, like some other countries had, for example australia. At the very beginning of pandemic they closed tourist attractions (that included the great wall), cinemas, concerts, sport competitions. I think it was only for short time, a month or two. Industry started to get back to work in March 2020, That is around time nothern italian wave appeared. And the first lock down in Thailand. They had and still have draconian measures at particular cities and provinces. The Wuhan lock down was dramatic, shocking, but contained spread within China. A year ago they had Hong Kong delta wave, which overwhelmed their hospitals. Recently they had relaxed slightly international travel - shorter quarantine and only one test. So they are still behind phuket sandbox and Test&Go models (both of them had drawbacks because coinciding with delta and omictron). They did not follow swedish model. Very few other countries have also tried that (the UK, USA, Brasil) but reversed them after being hit hard with waves. So china now, under social pressure, has their chance to try swedish model. It might work somehow, because their population now are vaccinated and covid specific antivirals are available (albeit expensive). But timing might be wrong, winter in nothern hemisphere usually triggers waves. I am not sure what role Xi plays in covid measures, but I don't think he was made a czar of covid, as Prayuth was since April 2021 (I don't know when his tenure has ended, probably October 2022). As to those covid protests - they are unprecedented in china, but were spreading in Europe from Summer 2020 (germany, UK), when police was using water cannons. Those protests had also political context, with right-wing groups participation
  11. Yes, there are other donated winter clothing. The original post mentions only about 30k from the UK. Canada donated on 12.10 some $15mln for buying 400k pieces of winter clothing and 100k pieces from army stock. That is for 50-100k full gear. on november 16th they donated additional $10mln for winter equipment, but not for clothing. "https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/campaigns/canadian-military-support-to-ukraine.html russia was trying to buy 500k winter clothing and 200k bulletproof vests from third countries. Turkey refused to sell and informed ukrainians about that, that according to ukrainian spokesman. So they had shortage before winter. It also means that they are trying to equip some 220k mobilised, which they will shortly put on battlefield. Temperatures are still around zero C, with rains and wind. Both sides can still dig up trenches and winter shelters. Winter is coming late for europe
  12. if russians are freezing than equally same ukrainians are suffering, Night temperatures are still above 0 C. Very few would get hypothermia, if wet. They fully recover within days. those 5k warm uniforms from the UK are only just coming to ukraine, probably still not on the front. The other 25k arctic ones would come later. Canadians also promised 50k, but again will take time. That's total 80k, for some 700k ukrainian army. They are not to be used in positive Celsius conditions. Russia has also these arctic clothing. Those on pictures might be drunk, drugged, injured. If they are incapacitated they should not be attacked and killed, that is war crime zone. That can also be staged pictures
  13. Not the case with thaksin associated parties, which were winning all elections for over 20 years. as to palang pracharath leader is gen prawit. I dont know when he retired from army, but certainly he is not civilian, in any sense. If such party nominates a military coup leader for the PM, that party is military owned
  14. from March 2022 patients have to pay for tests, medical care if they feel sick but below 39C or below 25 breaths per minute and they are not in a risk group. So they stay home and are rushed to hospital, when their illness is advanced. That's one of the reason why they are many empty beds since then. Even if some of them have private insurance, it doesn't cover them for less than severe cases. I think their policy should be flexible and if they have space on covid wards, they should keep some patients below those requirements.
  15. Cancellation of NY is out of question, but at any time there can be limits on large gatherings. Each province governor can impose them at his own right if there are hotspots under his jurisdiction. They might do it at the last moment citing security, rather than covid, as not to scare incoming tourists. People were celebrating NY even 2 years ago by going away from bangkok to smaller cities where restaurants and bars were opened and even serving alcohol and partying.
  16. Good detailed article, but they forgot to mention, that smog comes partly with nothern monsoon from over china. Thats why there are cases of record pollution in the countryside, far away from bangkok and cities, with no burning fields. As china is ending it's covid pause and as they are going to use more dirty fuels, because of energy prices, problem will grow for years. For domestic heating chinese will burn waste, including plastic. Use of cars is constant throughout the year, it's just cold and dry air traps pollution near ground, not allowing it to escape into space and dissipate over oceans.
  17. Plus extortion by torture, to double his income. That way he didn't have to run lengthy investigation to trace drug money And also likely selling back drugs confiscated from dealers, which would make him more than 30% of trophy. Not sure how far investigation went in his case. He was charged only with murder and sentenced very fast, within months. If investigators wanted to work harder and take longer they look into his background
  18. It's enough that they will further liberalise ganja laws and hard drugs problem will solve itself over time. But it looks like new laws go the other direction. Ganja would be next to free, as in the past, if people can grow it by themselves. A natural medicine and traditional relaxant used for thousands years. High age limit for ganja use, which is now 20, pushes youngsters into hands of hard drug peddlers. Yaba price fall to record levels and dealers will cease their work if there is not much profit and big risk of serious sentences. They would be smuggling to countries where they can make large profits.
  19. That airport where aircraft was impounded is a military airport. For his last flight it took from don muang military base, which is next to DMK. That was reported the last week. Drug dealing on a large scale, money laundering is not grey economy, it's serious crime, beyond black economy. "Slap with charges" sounds as those charges were light, a reprimand, warning, suspended sentence. But he well might get very long sentence, possibly life. If secretary of minister of justice talks about that case it means, that this case has political background. It's not an ordinary criminal case. That arrest coincided with several other ethic chinese dealers, so they might be connected and organised crime carries harsher sentences Possibly that widespread action was under diplomatic request from chinese embassy. And might point to smuggling drugs to china.
  20. ok, so that wave might be already attributed to international tourism, but thai sources don't mention it at all. They talk about an ongoing domestic tourism. That tourism started this year earlier, because no rain since the beginning of October and moderate temperatures from the second part of that month. In that case wave will last well after touristy season ends around March, so well into April. There would be supply of fresh covid cases from winterly europe, the usa and russia. I have checked jomtien beach hotels - still some 20 small hotels in range 450-700b. My favourite hotels are just 150b more expensive since I stayed there the last time, so they are still still half-empty
  21. vatican pushes for a diplomatic solution, offering help with mediation. Even more so after escalation to nuclear threats. That article is from 3 days ago, editorial from an official vatican paper https://www.laciviltacattolica.com/the-nuclear-threat-and-the-war-in-ukraine/ what I wanted to show is an example, that kiev is not into tolerating even pope's small remark about killing of moscow journalist. It unnecessarily strains relations with vatican. But also such actions strain relations with the USA, showing ukraine as a rogue country https://edition.cnn.com/2022/10/05/politics/us-intelligence-ukraine-dugina-assassination/index.html
  22. That dr did not explain why he thinks wave would subside after the new year, and reason why it appeared now. From earlier articles they contribute it to holiday time, winter in thailand is when people travel more for pleasure due to lower temperatures. They stay at hotels, socialise in restaurants, bars, tourist attractions. In the past it coincided with tourist season from abroad, but looks that is not the case now. But still a risk of some new strain and wave developing with some delay of 1-2 months, so around January. Likely small covid waves will come every half year or so and that would be time for boosters. Possibly some masking in selected areas of out brakes, at province governors rights to impose them. I think it would be customary in thailand for many years to wear mask at hospitals, pharmacies and public transport with closed windows. Thermometers were useless, but alcohol disinfectants and some forms of social distancing are good measures to stop spread of different germs. They should be maintained. There are still thermo cameras with large display screens at entrance to some supermarkets, more as a deterrent for seriously sick to enter and secondary as a security measure, reminding potential thieves that their face was recorded at close distance.
  23. since october vatican is spooked by nuclear threat, armageddon in Biden's speech and calls for ceasefire and offers mediation. In yesterday's open letter pope asks kiev again for concessions to get peace deal. For vatican it's now beyond who provoked the war. Points to lives Ukraine is losing and economical damage. That article is from reuters, just they have it behind paywall, so full text from another website https://www.channelnewsasia.com/world/ukraine-needs-be-far-sighted-secure-peace-pope-says-3101661 but kiev is not having any of it. Calls vatican embassador in kiev for pope's remark, that assassination of a journalist Daria Dugina done by death squat in Moscow, was a senseless act on an innocent person. https://www.thedailybeast.com/ukraine-summons-vatican-envoy-over-pope-francis-remarks-about-darya-dugina-being-innocent It looks like kiev doesn't want diplomatic solution and they believe they can win on battlefield. There was a peace deal at the very beginning of April, which was allegedly torpedoed by boris johnson's secret visit to kiev. https://responsiblestatecraft.org/2022/09/02/diplomacy-watch-why-did-the-west-stop-a-peace-deal-in-ukraine/
  24. since the original post, are there any new herbal libido enhancers for men, as well as for women? Rather brand name, from a large reputable herbal company, in form of tea or pills/capsules rather than fluid
