RVing / CamperVaning in Thailand?
internationalism replied to JayBird's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
unless you travel with experienced campers, travel in a group, with thai people, I would be afraid of isolated places to stay alone because of common crime, as well as danger from wild animals. That's the main reason full campers are almost not-existent in thailand. scenic spots are within national parks, but entry is 300-500b. Car entry 30b. For pitching own tent they charge 30b per person, so probably similar for campers. There might be safe public parking and camping outside entrances, with free use of toilets, water or even hooking to electricity. There might be scenic spots (waterfalls, caves etc) close to national parks, with free parking and some facilities, but payed entry (or free with the dated ticket from a national park). Those earlier mentioned forest parks. I would rather sleep in a tent pitched just for the night, than inside caravan. Only in case of rain I would move inside, but preferably find the nearest guesthouse. All scenic spots, natural reserves would be on googlemaps as "tourist attractions". I would check all of them on my route. There might be disused buildings, thai salas, verandahs for common use. I have camped with a tent inside those places, just it's more convenient than on ground, and in case of rain. Start you camping adventure just with a tent in an estate car, 7 sitter or covered pick up. Might be just good enough. If you are in bangkok or central thailand do first Koh Chang. Or Kanchanaburi. Those routes are developed for weekend tourists. Because I have 3 dogs I try to travel self-sufficient and on budged. As to renting hotels, guesthouses - you might need them only to sleep there. There is not much to see in the scenic spot at nigh time. Those guesthouses in the countryside are still close to nature - by rivers, lakes, on the beach. You can still make a bonfire, cooking. -
Government Urged to Relax Travel Restrictions
internationalism replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News Headlines
if they cancel pre departure pcr it would be from 1st April. If fact some news reported that it's already cancelled. I think that would be very likely -
it's only 2-3 days for omicron to be detected. So they got it anytime between departure to thailand or shortly before 5th day test. Nobody can say when they got it, until contact tracing (person confirming positive results). In a sense, if not serious symptoms, good to have it and in this way boost immunity, as well as be protected for 90 days by recovery certificate. khasod english on the fb page some 2h ago: "The government on Friday announced that it will do away with mandatory RT-PCR tests 72 hours prior to entering Thailand starting April 1".

"One was fired at a simulated target set up by navy operatives from Sattahip. ... The torpedo was fired at a range of 2.5kms 53 meters under water. " maybe they have meant range 250km? But phangan is much further from sattahip, over 500km in a strait line. the Gulf is very shallow, average just 20m. That's why submarines, and very possible, large torpedoes, are easy to detect from above and destroy, before they get to their target. And what is significance of this exercise right now? Because the chinese submarines are postponed indefinitely?

Can they force me into hospital if i test positive?
internationalism replied to joeshmoe23's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
if hospital means you have serious symptoms and insurance will cover it (however, my insurance only covered medical part, for hospital room, food, cleaning etc I was billed). If you have a foreign insurance hospital asks for some 80k deposit (that is in Piyavate hospital). On admission they will give you to sign blank documents. They are covered in plastic, with just a small space to put signature in. Don't sign anything and they won't be able to charge you. They can call your insurance to sort out claim, even without any of your involvement. Most likely you end up in hospitel (they will move you from hotel to another one in the neighbourhood). Exit doors from the ward are locked, probably same at hospitel. Now they might even have lock on floor exits at T&G hotels. Looks, like they wised up, too many patients, guests doing a runner. But there is always emergency exit door -
Help Young Expat Hit with Stage 4 Cancer
internationalism replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
yes, people from around the world travel to the USA just to buy medicines and bring them back home for treatment. With airfare some $1k, visa and many other expenses it's still cheaper, than importing by official channels (which involves special permissions, VAT, duty tax and might take long time). The picture in the article started to puzzle me now - how asymptomatic patient has to have oxygen tubes in his nose? Nebulisation involves cover for nose and mouth. Strange that. Also stage 4 would have some symptoms for long already, as it develops over many years. How those symptoms were not checked early on, on onset? -
songkran going will full power of inter provincial travel in tens of millions, shopping malls, restaurants opened without any prevention measures, yet foreigners have to have 3 tests, quarantine and insurance, which doesn't cover hospitel. Seems a little bias against them. if they didn't cancel T&G in December and not introduced 5th day testing they would have hundreds of thousands more tourists by now

that censure debate was over a year ago. He was prevented from speaking at this debate, because Pheu Thai party used all time allocated to opposition, to stop him attack Prawit (taksin has a deal with Prawit to topple prayuth and allow taksin to come back) So he staged his speech outside of the parliament. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2020/02/28/pheu-thai-denies-conspiring-to-save-prawit-from-censure/ why criminal defamation is used after such long time? who brought it and when? By prawit himself? by public prosecutor? his background is here https://www.thaipbsworld.com/the-young-lawmaker-who-shatters-thailands-deepest-taboo/

those makro salmon bellies might be already smoked and ready to eat. I never had them here. Certainly in europe bellies are smoked (and dirt cheap, use to be e4 kg). As they are scrapes, small pieces, doing them in microwave would be fast. Once in tesco I got smoked bellies for some 100b/kg, that was at fish stall (not prepacked or frozen). That was one off, never seen again.

no, pandemic, insurance, tests and possible quarantine, only hinders tourism. For expats already living here and those planning to resettle here, travelling is not a big issue at all. Once fully vaxed, and with thailand pass since november, practically can move anywhere easily. But airfare is up within the last 3 weeks. I have just checked prices to europe for end of April and my favourite airlines and destinations are 30-100% up. That would certainly slow intercontinental air traffic. Would cut by half those planning for this year, unless prices drop to a reasonable level

RVing / CamperVaning in Thailand?
internationalism replied to JayBird's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
check for forest parks, only 60-70 in the whole country. They are under national parks, but free to enter. Ask for permission to camp. They have toilets, electricity. Most important, they are safe. There would be night guard. Also other campers. Before entrances to national parks there might be safe area for parking. With basic accommodation from some 250b for double, there is not much point investing in a good campervan. -
Medical check up for a 40-year-old man
internationalism replied to AventurasEnMadrid's topic in Bangkok
at the government hospitals below 5k. you can book date in advance and be at the heart clinic before registration at 8am, for a few h. Or walk in, around 6am, for registration at the main entrance - blood and urine samples. Come back in the evening for chest xray, ekg. Wait for dr consultation over 1h. check ups are recommended over 50. I don't think you need to do them biannually. Unless you have some symptoms or medical history, genetics -
that's 760b/kg with probably than less than 50% salmon. Macro frozen belly 200b/kg, mince 90b/kg
