  1. This half explains my transfer problem of yesterday, Wise to Bangkok Bank, started with statement of "will take seconds", as soon as I pressed the confirm button jumped to 5 hours, half an hour later e-mail received saying cannot complete transfer until Monday.
  2. I tried to use mine in the bank when I went to deposit money in my children's accounts, they wanted proof of depositor, was told not acceptable must be passport for foreigner.
  3. So that means he can "vacate the office", during which he remains PM, and take 10 years to find a suitable (acceptable to him) replacement.
  4. hope the ground doesn't hit back it's b##### hard
  5. Don't remember exactly how long my first card was valid for think 10 years, but my card got damaged (number wearing off) went for a replacement (no charge) when I was 64 it is now valid for life. My number was issued in Lom Sak, Phetchabun, back in 2001, it starts with a 6 and ends in 8, whatever that implies/means.
  6. I've been in the House Book since 2001, and using it for address verification since 2005 and had a Pink Card since about 2017 (wouldn't issue them here unless you had a work permit).
  7. Attempted to use Pink Card at my last renewal, my local DLT said "not possible for farang must be Passport Number". Have 5 years left on DL, passport 6 years, so will have to renew DL then again 1 year later to change passport number, unless they change their mind.
  8. No wonder the beer was expensive, maybe he missed the restaurant and was in a printers shop
  9. You need to get the Yellow House Book first and if your over 60 your pink card does not have an expiry date either, so no need to renew.
  10. He's going to be elsewhere, so won't impact him
  11. True, this Thailand though and no need to change them until the canvas shows all round. In saying that I've changed mine at an average of 55,000-60,000, does depend a lot on your driving standard and the type of surface you regularly drive on.
  12. No, I don't understand, however in my 16 years of renewals, all wanted proof of address, mixture of Marriage extensions, Non-B and now Retirement. Bangkok pre CW - Wifes ID & Blue book (Amphoe error I was in there too) Nong Khai - Yellow Book accepted as proof of address Chiang Khan - Yellow Book Tak (Mae Sot) - Yellow Book Phitsanulok - Yellow Book Phetchabun - Initially Yellow Book last 2 years Book and TM30 receipt (must admit not tried without Yellow Book)
  13. I always stick to the sizes installed on the car by the manufacturer (in my case 265-70R16) and always stick to brand names I recognize first change stuck with Bridgestone later changed to Firestone as they were a good bit cheaper. 10 months ago cost 4,000B per tire.
  14. and predicting the lottery numbers but he's not doing too good a job of either
  15. 9 am 19th 42.13
  16. Immigration when doing annual extension, proof of residence. Ditto Bank when opening an account.
  17. sure it's not a pickup
  18. Years ago I asked a Thai teacher, who had just been given a 200B fine yet again for not wearing a helmet, why didn't he get one the answer was to the effect that they don't have checkpoints every day and a 200B fine is cheaper than buying a helmet. I tried to point out to him that as a teacher he should be showing a good example to the pupils by wearing one, the reply was it's up to me, and they'll do what they want. The police don't help, today I saw one on a motorcycle pushing his way through traffic with his red lights flashing wearing only a standard uniform cap. He stopped 100 yards up the road to take photos/video of the policeman that was directing traffic.
  19. Did you get a Mastercard or Visa debit card from them when you opened your account, if so just use it, it will work the same as a credit card in shops and online, except that you are limited to how much you have in your account. There was a report here of somebody getting a credit card from a Thai Institution and they had to make a "security deposit" for the card which became the credit limit on their card.
  20. Is that phrase allowed in this gender identity crisis period, shouldn't it be.... "LBGT+ Hooters" especially since there a lot of opposition nowadays to being identified as he or she
  21. Probably wouldn't work around our Soi as our electrical supply varies all the time every day from lights that dim and fans that go slow to complete shut down for maybe 1-2 seconds. Forget full blackouts (or is that no longer an acceptable phrase in the current woke era)
  22. Maybe he owned them and refused to pay the police "bar fine"
