  1. Sorry, I still don't get how he accessed your account. Even if he saw you typing in the pin number, he didn't have your card.

That's what I am thinking, and I made sure he did not see me typing in the PIN (as far as I know). The bank tells me that he could have had some sort of skimmer attachment. I think that's all so far fetched and not worth consideration. All I know is that I am 50 grand down, there was an odd incident the week before, and this is the first time I have experience such an incident and such a loss.

// and it's now obvious that the 1,000 baht 'left' was a distraction. Come on... how often does that happen to you KB.

Which Kasikorn ATM was that? Would like to avoid that one if it was a skimmer.

  2. I got angry this morning. Was riding the bike with the kid from Rawai to Kata, overtaking with a wide margin some of the ATV's riding there, when suddenly one of them decided to be funny and swerved all the way to the right, back to the left and again all the way back to the right. I was prepared so managed to avoid the guy, and the 'tourleader' of course did not notice anything.

When do they finally stop these guys illegally riding on the road there? No need for an answer to the question BTW.

  3. ^

Sorry Thailand I disagree, I see most foreigners driving in sane manners if not just a little in need of extra patience is all . The really bad drivers, the ones that My Pen Rai drive that maim and kill others- 99 % are Thai men.

That's a universal problem and not particular to Phuket. Here in Phuket drivers faff about in the outside lane then at the last minute turn left into a side road. Just makes no sense to me.

Or turning right from the middle of the road as if they need all that room to negotiate the turn. Just oblivious to natural laws pertaining to inertia IMO. Worst is just before the left turn, pulling wide to the right first as if they are driving a semi tractor trailer. It is a challenge to remain unscathed.

Don't forget that before starting to brake for the turn they have first overtaken you.

  4. I don't know much about bars, but I took a ride around Rawai and Nai Harn last night and it was DEAD! This is supposed to be "high season!" I use to go out to some bars a few years ago around here and there were some pretty busy places. The last thing I would be doing is opening another bar around here now, unless you just want to lose your money.

    Sunshine was packed.

  5. Great news indeed, although correct, the staff is going to need a heck of a lot of training to get them to change their previous bad habits. I get so tired of having to say over and over again, "one bag is enough" in Thai and explain to the cashier that too many bags are not good for the environment and scenic beauty. Some roll their eyes at me, others smile (condescendingly), rarely do I get them to say "good idea!" or "Thank you!"

Now if Tesco would stop selling sharkfin products I just may start shopping there on a regular basis.

Some years ago they were selling shark fins, so we petitioned their head quarters in the UK and they stopped selling them at the time. I hardly ever visit Tesco, but are they selling them again? Maybe you can start something again and stop it.

  6. Can't stand the drivers who pull up to the lights in the right hand lane and once the light igoes green they decide its time to use the indicator to turn right leaving the cars behind thinking it was going straight. this causes more bottlenecks than anything else in the island.

sounds to me your the kind of guy who keeps getting caught at the central festival junction when you try to be cool and cut traffic by the right lane.

I never put my indicator on that road exactly because of this. People who cut lines at lights by the right or left and dont intend to turn deserve to be pushed right back to the end of the queue or to get into an accident by cutting back into the moving cars

that lane is for going straight and turning right.

If the car in front indicates his intentions i wouldn't be in that lane in the first place.

It has nothing to do with cutting in or being cool, its about the flow of traffic and selfish drivers who deliberately don't indicate just shows the mentality of the drivers here.

At least you admit to being one of the selfish few.

It must make your day to create traffic bottlenecks.

The set up of the traffic lights there has changed some months ago. That lane used to be for going straight, but these days is only for turning right.

  7. Quite. The Sai Yuan junction is a nightmare - vehicles coming from Sai Yuan rarely bother checking traffic on the main road, they just turn left anyway expecting everyone to get out of their way.

I've found that the best way to approach this junction (from the main road) is to move into the 'fast lane'.

Coming from Sai Yuan traffic can go anyway, provided safe, so the lights really have nothing to do with this.

The would be going left from SaiYuna OK. Now as for the right turn fromk Sai Yuan into Vises that would be a different story.. Have a go at it on your honda jazz!

Yes, forgot to write 'turning left' but for any thinking reader that was obvious.

Turn right there sometimes, never any problems. Normally though I am coming from Rawai there, sometimes Sai Yuan, going direction Chalong. Quite ofteh also from Chalong to Rawai. I'm glad those traffic lights are not working at the moment.

  8. I find it very odd that the first photo shows a gun (I know it's a starting pistol) and the photo underneath is a group of young kids. A very strange juxtaposition. Not even sure why they have to even show the starting gun. Very odd ....

You just don't know with Thai and guns.

Somebody bought a present for a 3 year old. He wanted a gun (like lots of boys like to play with guns, so what did she buy? A BB gun with lots of bullets. For some reason I felt compelled to take it away.

  9. Just this morning, somebody, a foreigner, driving a sedan with around 50 km/h at the Villa Markt car park, by the looks of it using it as a short cut. Windows open, so when somebody shouts 'hey, easy', the answer, a raised middle finger, is clearly visible.

Not only bad driving habits but also bad manners.

  10. How do they know it had anything to do with Facebook??

It has been shown both here and overseas that sexual predators use facebook to groom victims, police in the U.K and in Australia have specialist teams that pose as children online to catch the predators.

Sorry, but that does not answer the question at all. Your answer only says that Facebook may have something to do with her disappearence.

I fail to understand your logic. IF it MAY have an influence on the case, then surely it is worth investigating. Every POSSIBLE avenue should be investigated either until exhausted, or the Girl, hopefully is found safe? Unless I have missed some hidden message in your post?

Agree it should be investigated. But the question was 'how do they know it had anything to do with facebook. An answer like' facebook is well known to ...' does not answer that question.
