  1. Why didn't she bite the bullet and simply disappear, we have one in our family at the moment I told her as there's no kids involved just throw your gear into a bag, go to work and don't return. She may have to change her job etc but if she ever takes a chill pill she will be forever grateful for my advice. Incidentally her mother inlaw is a real piece of work. There's no chill pills in Thailand and when something happens they over react never thinking about the consequences before they strike.
  2. The current price of Thai gold amazes me. I was married in outer Bangkok on May 19 2004 when the price of gold was 7,500 baht.
  3. Hi there, I happened to lose my Krungsri ATM card over the Christmas period, 1st time in 22 years. I instantly blocked the card online when I realised I'd lost it. What is the procedure to get a new one. This card was lost in Pattaya and the account was first opened in Bangkok. Thanks.
  4. How can Thais expect to receive a pension when they did go to work none of them paid tax.
  5. One of the problems is that Thai women can't keep their mouths shut. I've seen this first hand even with my wife who must tell her kids how to live even though they're both in their 40's and have kids of their own. So now they don't talk to her but they still talk to me when I see them when I'm shopping. Everyone has a limit and I told my wife repeatedly to mind her own business. In other words STFU. It's stretches ones patience when a person is constantly in your face.
  6. Hi there, I've lived in Thailand for the past 22 years and it's only now that I've come across this dry skin problem. I get it behind my ears and around my face including my nose. I do have fair skin but being a plumber I worked for 50 years outside for most of the time where temperatures were at times 40C plus. I've tried several creams and a lot of different soaps all to no avail. Thanks.
  7. I don't understand why I need to show my residential address at Jomtien Immigration office. Considering I've used this address for the past 8 years when applying for one year visas and also 90 days reports. It has to be on their data base.
  8. To apply for a Thai one year visa you must have at least one full year left on your passport. If I were you I would re apply for a passport renewal immediately.
  9. If I were to go to the Jomtien Office for a residency certificate what documentation would I require? My registered address is my condo in Pattaya but this property is in my Thai wifes name. Given all the comments here it maybe best to use an agent. One other thing when a residency certificate is issued how long is it valid for?
  10. It appears that many new traffic signs have been installed in Pattaya in recent months. When I go for my daily 2 hours walk commencing at 6.15 am I've never noticed one sign that's ever observed. This is mainly in the Wongamat area where people seem to think that they aren't being noticed. Cars, motorbikes and even tour buses only know one speed, flat out. Don't worry many farangs copy the Thai way.
  11. You may see more pressure on the Torys if election days were on a Saturday and make voting compulsory. This is would really play havoc with the Torys as their majority would be severely reduced. No worker is going to take a day off work and vote for the opposition.
  12. Thanks for that rwill, your comments are worth considering. I will get more info from him. If it's the same as the one year visa procedure, that is give the agent the details required and 900 baht and return to his shop a few days later to pick up my new drivers license. I'll go along with that if it keeps me out of the DLT office.
  13. I called into my visa agent of 10 years and he said he can get the job done for 900 baht. So I then asked him how can he get the job done considering he made my current one year visa for me and also does my 90 days reports with no certificate of residency. His reply was typical Thai, he told me he's very important. Next visa renewal I'll be changing agents. Another smart ass Thai who's shot himself in the foot.
  14. Hi all, I need to renew my Thai drivers license next February. After living in Thailand for 22 years, married to a Thai for 20 years do I still need a residency certificate. I've owned 2 cars, I have 4 different bank accounts and I'm a current one year Thai visa holder. After looking through my files I'm sure I've never been requested this before. So much for the 90 days reporting.
  15. Can some one please explain what traditional practices are?
  16. My Isarn wife has told me that a tomboy is a non practicing lesbian
  17. My 2 hour morning walk around the Wongamart area starts at 6am every morning. Believe me I see every road law broken continually. Even most of the tourist bus drivers drive with a Thai motor cyclists mentality when off the main roads. My main concern is when Thai motor cyclists turn left and cross your path they must cross in front of you. So as they're coming from behind you can walk straight into them. If they were to pass you from the rear then you'd be walking away from them. Another thing when motor cyclists turn right they cut of to the wrong side of the road and cut the corner, best of luck if you're coming the other way.
  18. As I walked through the car park of Lotus Pattaya Nua the other day a taxi driver tried to force me to use his taxi. Just out of curiosity I asked him how much and he replied 500 baht for a distance I regularly walk in 15 minutes. Of course I copped the mandatory snarl when I refused. As for the Pattaya and Phuket taxi operators if they travelled in an app based taxi they may learn what service and servility with a smile is all about. If farangs are residents in tourists areas they are all presumed tourists and are ripped off accordingly.
  19. The person who throws the garbage from where it comes from.
  20. That's the last thing I'd do. Obviously you don't keep up with Thai news. Thais have been known to kill for less than that.
  21. In our village the home owners are issued with gate passes to scan the boom gates. If a person is in arrears the pass doesn't work. That's fine on paper but the lame brain security people just leave the boom gates open.
  22. I didn't think that criminal activity in others countries really mattered here, or is that only come election time.
  23. Will this make any changes for people who use a visa agent for their 90 days reports?
