  1. No one is making a claim on her house, it is not part of the deceased's estate.
  2. You really think that valid wills are never successfully contested in the UK?
  3. If he was her widower (a man cannot be a widow) he would be entitled under Thai law to inheritance.
  4. Huh? Foreigners can own houses. Fine lawyer you'd be.
  5. By applying for it and qualifying for it, presumably. Why shouldn't she have been granted one?
  6. No, he won't, neither will anyone else, there has been no telegram service for over 30 years.
  7. He could travel to his own country.
  8. No, we cannot leave. We can stop posting and re-register under a new name, breaking the rules. but we remain members under the original account. Of course, I could be wrong and if I am someone will describe the resignation/leaving procedure to cancel a membership.
  9. How does that work, "resigning" from AN, I mean? Membership can be voluntarily cancelled by the member? I don't think so. We can check out but we can never leave!
  10. Many people are unaware of the AN forum, the handful of regular posters being a minority of foreign visitors and being here for many years does not mean that they should be aware of it or join as a member. Reading the forum does not require membership and there is no need to be a member unless one wants to post!
  11. You're saying that he's 'L', 'G', 'B' or 'T'?
  12. I have a company phone (don't use a private one) and do my personal banking with it. Might be a big deal, haven't heard anything yet though. I believe that you'd benefit from one of the exemptions to (re)registering. The move is to prevent scams, not to make life difficult for legitimate users who have genuine reasons for the anomaly.
  13. take those rose colored glasses off, you'll see alot better. lol Take the Thai-bashing attitude off your shoulders and you'll feel a lot better.
  14. Wasn't it reported that the Nigerian was the "cheating scammer"?
  15. Maybe he'll be wearing a suitably large placard around his neck announcing that he is noble and special because he has PR and will demand appropriate recognition?
  16. "...it translates as a foreign transaction..." Hardly a Translate issue as that is exactly what the transfer was.
  17. Certain SIM's are only available if you are a Thai national or "hold a work permit" (standard line from DTAC/True/AIS customer services officer). So, the foreigner has a SIM in a trusted Thai friend's / partner's name for convenience. You could have asked politely but instead you asked in a condescending interrogative manner as ever. Could you tone it down? You're referring to post-paid accounts? I'd guess that most foreigners don't use those accounts, they buy pre-paid SIMs to which the OP refers. Your interpretation of my perfectly normal, non-condescending, non-interrogative question is wrong. Could you please tone down your rude assertions?
  18. "At the end", in this case your assertion is 100% wrong.
  19. Still, it may be a bit more complicated than what you think. Without acting fraudulently. You think? What could be so complicated about registering one's own SIM card?
  20. I think there are gaps to this story and a huge touch of exaggeration and fantasy to extract a payday from the Daily Mail.
  21. You couldn't make this stuff up! But they do.
  22. Just salacious gossip or truth, who knows?
  23. Yes, it is a chain of events designed to make a good story for the Mail.
  24. Can't imagine why anyone would want to "get out of" these rules, it's no big deal.
