  1. It can be but, depending on the context, it is not always intended to be.
  2. same as a Thai Arrested for murder they are released on bail most of the time Amazing Thailand Some may be (as in other countries), "Thais arrested for murder are released on bail"? As a generalisation, not so much.
  3. One of the rangers, who seemed to be doing most of the talking spoke excellent English, and the Italian spoke reasonably good English with an excellent knowledge of English profanity.
  4. Years ago. Were unendangered barrel sponges protected all those decades ago; are they protected now?
  5. Do their snorkels and the reaction of the Rangers not suggest that maybe they were diving?
  6. They were taken there by a third party?
  7. No, we do not, you speak for yourself. You are no official representative of anyone here.
  8. The OP doesn't report that, was it reported somewhere else?
  9. Thailand does not have an "open border" policy.
  10. Please explain how your gratuitous Thai-bashing comment makes any sense in relation to this incident.
  11. One Thai. Strange how you don't post that reaction to the frequent reports of Thai nominees "aiding and abetting" foreigners illegally owning Thai property and businesses.
  12. If this is true, and he cannot be let out on bail, then overstay of this length is not worth it, and ill-advised. It would not make any sense for an arrested overstayer, subject to deportation, to be released on bail!
  13. You mean he has been incarcerated? If so, then that is penalty aplenty. It's not the money. It's being in the monkey cage that becomes the main deterrent. I meant what I posted. He has been arrested so yes, obviously, he is being detained somewhere pending deportation.
  14. Why would there be further penalties in excess of the maximum?
  15. and how do you know that!! just full of it He had been supported by his family until his arrest, no reason to presume that they won't help him out.
  16. No, he will not be jailed as a penalty but he will be detained in IDC only for as long as it takes to arrange his deportation.
  17. Maximum means what it says on the tin! I think it's 20K. When he appears in court, which he will as he has been arrested and charged, it is likely that he will not be fined that maximum as that is how courts work with guilty pleas in overstay cases.
  18. He was, as the link posted earlier confirmed.
  19. In some circumstances such as disability...yes they can👍 It is not the norm, I am aware that there are exemptions which do not apply to the vast majority.
  20. Only if they can provide specific required evidence, something that you are, conveniently, not mentioning.
  21. The UK is making it more difficult by extending the required term! It is not as cut and dried as you make it seem!... "New 20-year requirement: Individuals must now demonstrate 20 years of continuous residence in the UK to apply for ILR through the long residence route. Continuous residence is crucial: This means there cannot be significant breaks in their stay in the UK during the 20-year period. Proof required: Applicants will need to provide substantial evidence to support their claim of long-term residence, such as utility bills, employment records, and tenancy agreements"
  22. That is right , dont only paste PART OF THE POST that is against Forum rules DUH No, partially quoting a comment is not a contravention of forum rules unless doing so alters the context of the post. You specifically stated, as a stand-alone sentence that "The right to respect for family life is protected by human rights, and includes the right to not be separated from family members. This right applies to a variety of family relationships, including parents and children, siblings, and unmarried partners". That is false, unless you can quote specifically where that protection is legislated. If you can, I will gladly admit my error.
