  1. "Apparently"? Either they did, or they didn't. And is that really a "law"? Please feel free to point us towards the statute. They did. The emergency decree that is still in force covers the Covid-related regulations and restrictions. Please feel free to research it yourself.
  2. Can you quote just one actual current example of any of that? Extortion? What?
  3. Have you called Bangkok Bank to ask then the answer to this serious question or are you going to rely on guesswork from anonymous forum members, many of whom didn't even read your OP properly? Whatever "answers" you receive here you are going to have to confirm with the bank so why not just ask BBL direct? BBL's call centre has English-speaking staff available during and outside of normal business hours...+662 645 5555. Listen carefully to the options and be prepared to hold until staff are available, sometimes patience is needed. Due to the Songkran holiday you may need to wait until next week.
  4. Hardly. Drink driving punishments in Thailand go to a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and B200,000 fine.
  5. Based on the legally enforceable emergency decree that is still in force.
  6. "Murder often nets less time". Got a couple of examples of those sentences of less than two years that are "often" given for murder?
  7. A maximum penalty, not mandatory and, so far, no one has received that punishment. LO 'kin L.
  8. Well, thats it... End of thread. Never happened to Liverpool Lou everyone.... so those who encounter a poor taxi experience must be telling lies !!! "Well, thats it... End of thread". Your words, not mine. I just recounted my experience of years of Bangkok taxis, if you don't like it, tough.
  9. How do you justify not paying the flag fall after you accept a ride when it's part of the fare? If the fare was B37 would you refuse to pay that or just give him B2?
  10. Huh? How does that work for a taxi hailed on the street? Who do you contact and who makes the refund!?
  11. I never use Grab and have never had the problems that the OP alleges.
  12. "...he started driving over 100mph" The taxi was being driven at over 160kph?
  13. They're not commercially available for consumers' cars and won't be for years, when they are, they will be legal, obviously.
  14. Try a belt shop or a shoe repairer or buy a hole punch for a few baht.
  15. What we know is that he turned in front of an oncoming vehicle. Exactly, that's all. Not enough for blame to be apportioned, especially not by this forum's members.
  16. What is a "gov. dentist" and where is one, accessible to foreigners, to be found? How are they distinguished from normal private dentists?
  17. Tell me more, what's your interpretation of the report. Do you believe Somchai? OK, inspector, case closed, let's take Somchai's word what happened. Sadly, we'll never know the truth, 2 young women are dead. Why interpret the report any way other than as stated unless you have a very good reason (not available to the rest of us) to blame the truck driver? I have no reason to disbelieve him and I doubt that you have either. What makes you think that "the truth will never be known"? The article specifically stated that there is an investigation going on right now.
  18. That's your interpretation, it is not what was reported as actually happening.
  19. The reason is dog c_rap. The only exercise most dog owners want their mutts to partake in is bowel exercise...well away from their own homes.
