Detection Dog Stops Tourist from Smuggling in Smoked Bats
chalawaan replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
And why, do tell us, would anyone bring narcotics into Thailand via Bangkok in a suitcase, when they can bring a boat or truckload in at a thousand places on the border? Yes, there are idiots from South America, but they get caught without dogs, because they're idiots. There are other breeds anyway, that find drugs and explosives better than Beagles, who specialise in edible contraband. -
Anybody loading up on BTC on this dip?
chalawaan replied to In Full Agreement's topic in Cryptocurrency News
I always said it's going to sub 10K And maybe even the low hundreds. If it recovers, and when... Well that will be interesting, because, clearly, it's not a store of value against fiat right now! I'm not saying it may never go to the moon, but when I said it would likely ruin millions of sworn HODLers, on the way there, I was laughed at. Few imagined these lows, and now they're here, new lows are not the impossibility they seemed this time last year! Plenty people are now realising they can't NOT sell or they'll be ruined. What happens after that, who knows? But the frenzy couldn't last. -
No word on them about the horrific daily road roll, often as high as the daily Covid death toll back in the dark ages. Absolutely shameless and clueless imbeciles who most likely paid their way into the medical profession.

One killed and five injured in 4-vehicle crash in Chonburi
chalawaan replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Where are the top doctors demanding western style road safety changes? Oh yeah, too busy panicking about a handful of kids who might ingest weed once accidentally, or it's horrific effects on national security or some such utter garbage. Deaths from Cannabis worldwide? Zero. Deaths from traffic in Thailand this morning? Double digits. Media outrage by Thailand's top doctors? Zero. Where's that "worlds gone mad" gang on here when you need em? -
Has the world gone woke or mad
chalawaan replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Why is it that right wingers, without fail, can't spell and/or differentiate between similar sounding words in their native language? Maybe answer that before tackling the more complex social issues of our society. -
Is PTSD real or only weak people?
chalawaan replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
What is "weak" to us isn't necessarily seen that way by them. And you're forgetting that almost all entertainment these days be it sexual or graphic violence, would never have passed the censor 50 years ago. Did that make "us" the weak ones? All you are witnessing, is the never-ending advance of humanity. Plato in ancient Greece, is on record whining about the youth of his time. Proving that not everything changes, but most things do. -
Is PTSD real or only weak people?

Strange, one does tend to notice the headache goes away after the assailant stops banging your head against the pavement. Who woulda thunk it! -
Is PTSD real or only weak people?

What sort of mentality seeks to discredit almost any idea or concept, that is developed at any time after the year they were born? Asking for the rational among us. -
Has the world gone woke or mad
chalawaan replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yet another "world gone mad" post. You know what was really world gone mad? The 1914-18 war. Stop whining about the inevitable you cannot change, and enjoy the few months you have left. Maybe even do something nice for someone you never met? Wow, kindness, what a radical concept eh? -
You can guarantee these clowns, including big white Bill, will make every wrong decision in the book, luring tourists back. Add-on taxes (exempting Thais but not resident foriegners) keep stupid archaic drug and alcohol laws, keep forgoing the vast revenue to be gained from legalising and sensibly taxing gambling, vaping, and prostitution, sensibly taxing imports, including duty-free goods and alcohol. Missing a perfect opportunity to capitalise on the fall of Hong Kong. They're beyond clueless.

They're medical dinosaurs who should be ignored. One surefire way to expose children to drugs is to criminalise the drugs. Regulated drugs such as alcohol, are much less likely to find their way into young hands. They ignore common sense drug regulation because they're brainwashed hypocrites addicted to power over others choices.

Since the Thai/US/UK news cycle wasn't outrageous enough this morning, let's find something utterly pointless to have a grumpy old bitch-thread about until I can find my glasses and/or hearing aids, and head out to my favourite dive bar to spout lame pick-up lines that never fail, grab a few tip-based fondles and <deleted> away my pension on the worlds worst local beers. Sad.

Apples and Oranges much? There's plenty to do in CM at night, and before the global paranoia, craic could be found all night, especially if your imagination stretched beyond that of a superannuated sex-seeker. Age is a question of attitude. Needing to consort with women your granddaughters age is not every retirees idea of great nightlife.

Is "Bar 1" aka "Belgian Beer CNX" still closed? Not cheap, but not a hooker bar, and was a firm favourite for many a non-touristy NYE party, and a gutsy speakeasy during the Covid paranoia years. It's tucked away in the Soi on the right once you pass most of the girly joints, but before the small bridge that goes over the khlong on Loi Kroh.

Let's be realistic. If we're 50 or 60 we're not going to get or even like "nightlife" anywhere in the world, unless we are prepared to pay the premium that provides that specific blend of our era music, live or otherwise, with our cultural background TV channels, and with attentive exotic women in thier twenties. The alternative is to get your Thai wife/LTR to take you out with her own group of friends to venues such as White House on the Ping River. Which is a great night out, as it's a venue that does nothing but Classic Thai Rock. The craic there is strong, but don't expect to meet anyone new, much less anyone under 30. You have to BYO company.

79-year-old grandma tragically murdered by her drug-crazed grandson
chalawaan replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
They are drug crazed because the doses are not pharmacy standard. Unregulated alcohol makes them crazy too. The dose is the poison. Prohibition is the PROBLEM not the solution! It's all <deleted> backwards. -
Strict Control Intensified on Speed Pill Precursors
chalawaan replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They'll never win until they control distribution. I mean the drugs, not the precursors, or the borders or any other expensive failures. The people will get high no matter what. Controlled legal safer doses is the only answer. Just like booze, and I will never stop saying it. -
Pattaya: Operators say they don't pay bribes to police and higher-ups
chalawaan replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Yeah, nah. So who remembers the Headline: "There is no prostitution in Walking Street" ???????????????????????????????????? -
Except he doesn't. The one Thai cop who truly went after the Army and those above him is now in exile in Melbourne. BJ was a part of that, and got cold feet. He still did time demoted to a back office to think about his ways, and his car was shot up. It was all mentioned on this site. There's a documentary about the brave cop on YouTube for anyone who wants to know more, made by the East101 program.

Singaporean man arrested in Thailand in possession of “Happy Water” drug
chalawaan replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The dose is the poison. In all things no, exceptions. It's humanly possible to die from an overdose of fresh drinking water, and I don't mean by drowning in it. Thes drugs don't "evade" the law, the law just bans them without any interest in harm studies or possible benefits. if it's fun, we can't have that! Only some clowns that know nothing about fun and are addicted to power over others shall decide, what we, as adults can ingest, in our own time -and homes. -
lost retirement visa, now on overstay
chalawaan replied to Joinaman's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That embassy visa will force him to do criminal and health checks in his own country? What a situation to get yourself into just by not keeping the rules about retirement here front and center. -
"Big Joke" is just a big joke until he brings in a corrupt Army kingpin, I'm talking someone way above his pay grade. Big Joke got himself an unexplained inactive post a few years ago to contemplate just who those unusually rich soldiers are... It's all just: A. Smoke and mirrors. B. A crime boss reshuffle at the very top. Anyone who thinks otherwise is naively misled.
