Shinzo Abe, former Japanese prime minister, assassinated during campaign speech
Saanim replied to Scott's topic in World News
They surely will be some within 1.4 B of Chinese population celebrating this action, considering the atrocities and the millions of Chinese victims in WW2 (14 - 50M?). -
Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
Saanim replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
Did the Russians learn from Ukrainians? https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-army-russia-prisoners-jail-b2024985.html Not sure whether this source is so reliable as the one about the Russian prisoners... -
Perhaps they will learn once the baby milk formula gets run out...

Seems you have mixed me with somebody else. I did not compare the wars, I just reacted on your remark to the Soviet war in Afghanistan. Perhaps you should read a bit more about that, it's really not a black-and-white story. Interesting the Brezinski's role and his famous interview he later allegedly denied., however, many sources mentioning that.

It seems you have mixed the wars. My comment was directed on your remark: "Remember that's when Americans aided the indigenous people to defeat the Soviet machine." And the "indigenous people" were organized by Bin Laden years ago not against USA but along USA in their generous war "to defeat the Soviet machine". Perhaps you should learn a bit more about that, e.g. from The Independent:

"Indigenous people"? Under a leadership of certain Osama Bin Laden? Anyway, not even Wikipedia will present it so. E.g. the one of Zbigniew Brezinski speaks about an "Afghan Trap" (described in his book The Grand Chessboard). And about his interview with a French journalist that however was later denied...

Yes I maintain the pool myself. It is a constant battle to maintain the correct pH. The cost of chemicals is just part of the problem... the main problem for me is the amount of time I have to spend cleaning it... 2 or 3 times a week... more, if it has been raining. Perhaps, the trees are overly blamed for the problems of the water, obviously the algae protection has not been effective enough. If it is only by the chlorine dosage and the pH has not been always properly maintained? Yes, the pH care costs a lot and the level fluctuates very often. I too have trees overhanging, also teak with its blossoms and large leaves dropping while in the middle of huge vegetation around. However, no such troubles with a handful of copper sulphate once a month and a handful of simple chlorine once a week while no bothering to maintain the pH.

There are also countries where they lay bricks or other cheap plates on top of the cables.

In my painless case performed through a catheter I do not see any much reduction of my sexual activity, despite my advanced old age. Of course, the ejaculation is discharged inside the bladder.

Actually, a topic belonging to swimming pools: Once your swimming pool has at least one longer side with overflow, there is no such hassle you are mentioning. Then, watching what new has grown up and how the birds and butterflies enjoy the flowers along the pool side makes the daily long-time swimming not so boring as it would be in a hermetically enclosed pool.

In case of erection of walls with cavity a suitable construction material should be selected allowing load-bearing walls without having to construct concrete columns and beams what saves hundreds of thousands Baht and 2 -3 months construction time. Then only problem is to persuade the Thai builders to do it so. Then the house design is very easy, allowing any possible layout, doors, windows placed anywhere. The wall cavity is very essential for the thermal insulation, with whatever material it's realized. With the relative smaller temperature gradient to achieve (10 - 15 C) the quality characteristics of the blocks/bricks do not make such difference as in northern countries where we have to calculate with some 35 - 45 C difference (from -20C to +25C), and wind contribution. The local bricks and cinder blocks are very cheap in comparison with the light blocks. And the cement, sand and workmanship is cheap either. Essential for the thermal calculations are large windows, whether tinted, double glazed, their thermal contribution overrides the wall quality.

Knowing that the general attitude of majority TV members is rather negative to anything of Thai conditions and Thainess anyway, I would recommend rather a personal sightseeing tour and a 1st-hand experience. Then, I could introduce you (with help of my wife) to few lead physicians in an up-country hospital, they would be happy and quite proud to present their facilities and procedures. A report of such tour would be very useful for TV members having to live here and suffer for rest of their life.

Perhaps you had your own experience when a up-country hospital performed a prostate surgery on you? Please disclose it to us. My experience was a painless medical intervention - I do not know whether it was a TURP or another miraculous surgery - the details I trustfully leave to the attending physician). When I woke up laying prepared in the queue for the theater, asking when I will be on, I was said that was made already, knowing nothing, neither days afterwards. So far, another 7 years knowing nothing, thinking on the troubles I had had the years before, hurrying few times after midnight for a urgent catheter inserted by a nice nurse, hearing scaring stories about surgeries. And yes, the state hospital is not affiliated to a university, however, assuming that the medical personal get surely some knowledge from a university as usually the case of physicians is. And that good experience with a state hospital has been also with others - not always so easy - medical interventions on me when I was always wondering how with such case I would fare in another world. Quite surprised by your strong statement about up-country hospitals. Where did you get your knowledge about them? Hope that not from some falangs forums similar like this one?

I strongly disagree...

If the PVC glue was applied correctly, i.e. prior to glueing to clean it by fine sand paper and the glue applied on both connection, it will held properly at least 20 years. The white tape does not need always to be so strong throughout the full length of thread, just to gradually increase at the end to form quasi a ring, washer.

Metal sheets - that are now in Thailand increasingly used for roofing - are obtainable with attached insulation underneath, also with various decorative surface that can serve as ceiling. The local factories - spread up on the country - usually provide any required length and accessories.

Was the fence wall (shown on the picture) also piled? And the house foundation? If not, why to do it for a kitchen in such narrow area?
