This is from the UK.GOV report Safety & Security in Thailand -- ROAD TRAVEL: Motorcycles or scooters for hire in beach resorts are often unregistered and can’t be used legally on a public road. Before you hire a vehicle, make sure you’re covered by your travel insurance and check the small print of the lease agreement. Don’t hand over your passport as a guarantee against returning a motorcycle or scooter. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand/safety-and-security Note: It says to check the small print on your vehicle lease agreement. It doesn't say to check the small print on your travel insurance.

So when you say: * i reckon insurers as soon as someone makes a claim they run around the office trying to find an undiagnosed pre-existing condition, it's an easy get out and high 5s all round the office were you actually in the office and observed the high 5s all around or do you just reckon? * https://aseannow.com/topic/1286249-medical-insurance-…wr-life……for-70-plus……your-experiencerecommendations/?do=findComment&comment=17898101

You mean from Bangkok Hospital/Bangkok and Bumrungrad? You bet.

I notice that you have used the phrase "I reckon" in several of your posts. Reckon is very widely used in British English. It has the same meaning as ‘to think’. 'I reckon it will rain tomorrow.’ https://www.ecenglish.com/learnenglish/do-you-speak-british-english-10-new-vocab-words To a Yank, what you reckon and what really is are not necessarily the same thing.

Well Bangkok Hospital may be pricey, but it's less than Bumrungrad https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/packages/open-initial-inguinal-hernia-repair-unilat-gp

I agreed to open as it was small enough and caught early and recovery time would have hardly been different.

Sometimes this 'fine print' notion i think gets overplayed. Whether it is the case in this instance or not, it would seem to me that some of the young motorbike hirers on the prime tourist spots might be fully aware that their insurance will not cover a motorbike accident but go ahead and ride one anyway because it certainly is not going to happen to them.

To add to the above from same source: Motorcycles or scooters for hire in beach resorts are often unregistered and can’t be used legally on a public road. Just to note from the crowd funder: Ruby was riding a motorbike in Thailand when another motorbike travelling in the opposite direction went to overtake on the wrong side of the road and ploughed into her. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rubyspry And from the DailyMail linked article: But ahead of taking up the offer <Costa Rica> she had wanted to see Thailand and was on a Thai island when the crash occurred on February 9.

I was just looking at RL and the Lobster Lab for my next trrip to Bangkok from the Isaan hinterlands. 2 tidbits: My late father was a golfing buddy of one of the original RL founders at the original RL from Lakeland FL. One of the best places I had to eat lobster was Denver, CO. If there was a bumper lobster crop, the wholesalers would often send the excess away from the US east coast as to not depress the prices there. Then 'cheap as chips' in Denver.
