I was just replying to the post above that Trump never-heard-of Project 2025. JD Vance wrote the Foreward to the 2023 version: Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, praised the vision of Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts in the foreword of a forthcoming book that could conflict with the Trump campaign’s effort to distance itself from Heritage’s Project 2025 transition effort. https://apnews.com/article/jd-vance-foreword-heritage-foundation-project-2025-a34d091fd401056c938c8897c1ebabd6 However the current version on the Heritage Foundation website has a forward by Kevin Roberts with no mention of Vance, anywhere.

Trump claims not to know who is behind Project 2025. A CNN review found at least 140 people who worked for him are involved Updated 2:45 PM EDT, Thu July 11, 2024 Donald Trump has lately made clear he wants little to do with Project 2025, the conservative blueprint for the next Republican president that has attracted considerable blowback in his race for the White House. “I have no idea who is behind it,” the former president recently claimed on social media. Many people Trump knows quite well are behind it. Six of his former Cabinet secretaries helped write or collaborated on the 900-page playbook for a second Trump term published by the Heritage Foundation. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/07/11/politics/trump-allies-project-2025/index.html

One can say that there are "sore losers" on here some only by their absence. But there is also a term "gracious winner" and not too many of those on here either.

More than 200 Bush, McCain, Romney aides endorse Harris

Well you never can tell -- Cabinet officials and a lot of other positions require Senate confirmation and, even with a Republican majority, the Senate may not be willing to confirm (i.e. rubber stamp) some of his desired but lesser qualified appointments -

You are right -- "It's the economy, stupid" seemed to override any of the concerns expressed by those former Republican officials. We will see if those who saw those economic issues to be the most important voting decision factors get what they wanted. -

The NY State fraud trial against Trump was a civil case -- there was no grand jury. And he was found liable for damages -- not "convicted" as in a criminal trial. -

REDUX Posted Thursday at 09:28 AM (edited) My first vote for President was 1972. I've live through Nixon Ford, Reagan, 2x Bush and 1 previous term for Trump. I'll deal with this one maybe like this ('cept I don't drink):

Fine. You can do the worrying about it for me.

Yes and according to the linked Newsweek article it might even happen as early as 10 year from now.

Updated Nov 07, 2024 at 2:13 PM EST -- One chief concern throughout the election campaign has been Social Security, which currently faces a funding crisis that would see benefits slashed by roughly 20 percent by as early as 2035. https://www.newsweek.com/what-donald-trump-win-means-social-security-funding-crisis-no-cuts-pledge-1978310

So maybe you're hoping under Trump there will be cutbacks in ObamaCare and Medicare so that "claim denied" (will be) likely and common.

What Americans Want and why Democrats Failed
jerrymahoney replied to NickyLouie's topic in Political Soapbox
Reagan in the 1980 debate with then President Jimmy Carter famously asked: “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?” He didn't ask are other people better off, he asked about YOU. I realize, as James Carville said in 1992 "It's the economy, stupid" and that may be the single best reason why the Dems lost this week. Whether Trump can make happy those people who feel disenfranchised and disillusioned with their current economic straits, I guess we will find out later. -

I have no control over what he does or doesn't do so I'll just wait and see what happens, if anything. ********************* One chief concern throughout the election campaign has been Social Security, which currently faces a funding crisis that would see benefits slashed by roughly 20 percent by as early as 2035. Trump has been vocal in his pledge not to cut any Social Security benefits once he becomes president. "I will not cut one penny from Social Security or Medicare," Trump said at a campaign rally in Florida this July. "And I will not raise the retirement age by one day." https://www.newsweek.com/what-donald-trump-win-means-social-security-funding-crisis-no-cuts-pledge-1978310 -

I am a 70+ years old guy in NE Thailand. I have and have never had any immediate family wives or children in USofA (e.g. the guy whose daughter comes to visit him in Thailand and she is older than his current Thai wife). As far as MY connection to the US, what matters to me are these concerns: The US Stock market The money/bond market Social Security Medicare (if needed) The USD to Thai baht exchange rate to the extent influenced by the US economy And for me, personally, as long as those things stay copacetic I don't really care who is US President. -
Biden was not going to resign at any point. But if he withdrew his nomination JAN1, there would've been time for a mini primary. At JUL 23, none of those who would be considered as viable candidates in addition to Harris were interested in that short order.
-
If Joe Biden had withdrawn his nomination January 1, 2024 instead of July 21, 2024, this whole thing might of been different.

Whatever might be the liberal melt-down on here, I am glad that AN provides a space for the MAGA melt-up (if that's a word) rather than my being back in Florida in a county that went 80+ % for Trump this election and having some guy in line at WalMart ask me: So whodja vote for? And where I live in the Isaan boondocks ain't anyone gonna ask Whodja vote for. And in the "When given lemons, make lemonade" department, at least for now, today's NY Times headline: ** Stocks Set Records and Dollar Soars After Trump Election Win **

REDUX posted October 1, 2024 Pre-Covid maybe 2019 I was in a BigC when I had a brief chat with an older Brit. He asked me what I thought of then President Trump. I said I didn't vote for him in 2016 and won't vote for him in 2020. But he IS the President for now and, wishing him any failure for political gain, is for fools. So I hope Trump is not again elected, but, if he is, I will just as above hope for the best for the country. https://aseannow.com/topic/1338486-i-love-donald-trump/?do=findComment&comment=19272706

jerrymahoney Posted October 25 I want Ms. Harris to win. But if it is Mr. Trump again, per the song 'Mockingbird' from 1963: I might rise above, I might go below Ride with the tide and go with the flow ************* and from 1888: Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright, The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light; And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout, But there is no joy in Mudville—mighty Casey has struck out.
