Body of Russian tourist hit by speed boat at Koh Larn recovered
Woof999 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Yes, and the amount of SangSom they have to drink to be able to pass is not as easily achieved as you might think! -
I read "even some iPhones or iWatches from Apple have burst" as something along the lines of "even some of the best can have failures" rather than "Apple is one of the worst for failures". In other words, it was a positive for Apple. As someone who doesn't eat Apples, I didn't find that easy to write.

Lost in translation: Thai road sign riddle baffles tourists
Woof999 replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I have now updated the spelling of my thoughts on this story to "I don't give a fork". -
Russell Brand: BBC and Channel 4 investigate allegations
Woof999 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Except when they are not. Bud Light. Gilette. Both companies have faced a significant backlash and calls for boycotting from many who would consider themselves right (of centre, not in ideology) because of the use of a transgender in an advert. -

Would take approx 5 trips in a full sized road tanker. They hold in the region of 40k litres. Sad knowledge from one of my first part time jobs way back when. -

Where is the domestic departures @ suvarnabhumi airport?
Woof999 replied to sanook 1's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Same terminal. Concourse A I believe, which is the far right as you're coming out of arrivals. Far left if you're entering the terminal from outside. -
"Health does not come in a needle." from the first page is what you wrote and what I was referring to. However, thanks for not taking my post too personally. That in itself deserves some respect on this forum.

It's becoming clearer that COVID did have some quite major effects on you without you noticing. It gave you 20/20 hindsight and the ability to believe you know more about medicine than those that have studied for a lifetime. If your refusal to vaccinate for COVID was based on something like the speed in which the vaccine was approved then I could understand, but the almost total eradication of polio, in great part due to vaccinations (and there are many other examples) means that your blanket disdain for vaccinations is well past the line of stupidity. Your ability to decide for the world who or what is worthy of respect is just laughable.

I just spit out my tea.

I used it as an example, so consider that example only for territories that cover most medical issues out of a shared pot. The UK for example. If not, ignore that example and think of another. I wasn't, but now that I come to think about it... putting on a seatbelt is typically a much faster, simpler, single task than curing an eating disorder or a lifetime of unhealthy living. I'd also say that using the excuse of "it's OK that I don't do this because other people don't do that" is a pretty poor argument. Out of interest, why do you choose not to wear a seatbelt? The benefits of it for the vast majority are unquestionable and we're living in a country with a far higher than norm accident rate.

Why? That sounds like the cry of someone who denounces the "woke" movement while also proclaiming cancel culture. If a trans man is taking testosterone then they have just as much need to use a shaver as any other man. Should a black man add Braun to their "do not buy" list because they used a white model?

Thai monk-on-the-run: Holy man in ‘fur-ocious’ trouble for abusing animals
Woof999 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Actually it's the dog that's in trouble. Performing a job reserved only for Thai dogs. -
Not sure I can answer the question without being labelled anti Thai by some (I choose to live in Thailand and I'm marries to a Thai, so I can't be that anti Thai, but anyway....). I just wish that in England it would be possible to talk about Englishness, to put the needs of the English above all else, to discriminate against anyone not English. It's not though. In that regard, I think Thailand has it spot on.

Suvarnabhumi Immigration Ensures 20-Min Wait or Less for Tourists
Woof999 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
My home country includes such border entry efficient location such as Heathrow and Manchester, so I'm in no position to criticise Thai immigration on this one. At least they are giving some thought beforehand, which doesn't seem to happen here all that much. -
Some laws aren't just there to protect yourself from self harm .They also exist to protect social infrastructure. For example, driving without a seat belt. If you're in an accident and not wearing a seat belt, the chances or serious injury (ignoring death) are far greater. That puts an unnecessary load on the health service. Other laws are in place because people often don't have any manners or fail to give a monkey's about what affect their actions have on others. Noise making during the hours of darkness, for example. Many of us don't need to be told what to do, but without a legal framework in place, there would be no mechanism to stop those that just don't give a shi'ite.

Russell Brand: BBC and Channel 4 investigate allegations
Woof999 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I can't say that I'm surprised by the allegations, for two reasons: 1.) I could easily believe them 2.) I could easily believe someone could decide to change their consent 20 years after the fact. In other words, not a clue, but let the legal process follow its course. Until then, he's innocent. I do have to say though, I thought he was brilliant in the movie remake of Arthur, as was Helen Mirren. The original was great, the remake also. -
Alcoholism and sobriety are two extremes on a black an white scale. As with most things, consumption of alcohol and your need to do so is on a far more analog scale (with infinite points along the path). TLDR; once someone becomes alcohol dependent, becoming tee-total might be the sensible (or only) safe option, but there are a myriad of ways to enjoy alcohol without becoming either.
