  1. When you speak of the heat you are experiencing as being "pain", then how can this be beneficial in any way, even for good health? Maybe you should read this from the Mayo Clinic? https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/understanding-effects-of-heat-on-mental-health/
  2. Being one of the intellectuals that do not often, if ever, ask this question that you thought we may ask, I have other questions: a. What is your purpose in abstaining from the health benefits of using the AC? b. We know that using an AC can improve health in various ways. c. Therefore, is it your intention to abstain from using AC for the purpose of harming your health? Additionally, I purchased an AC for my bedroom. The recommended AC capacity for my bedroom is a bit less than 18,000 BTU. This is why I purchased a new AC with a maximum capacity of 24,000 BTU. Why? I know from the studies I have read that humans sleep better at temps below 21 degrees C. I sleep, usually, at 19 degrees C. But, sometimes, just for the fun of it, I set the temp at 16 degrees C, which is the lowest setting on my AC's remote control. When I do this, I find it very difficult to get out of bed, from under the covers, in the middle of the night, or in the morning. Yet, I sleep better at temps between 20 and 16. No need to take my word for it, but there are many validated sleep studies bandied about. Just google a few. I keep my other rooms at about 23 degrees C, during the day. Why? I enjoy going outside in the hot sun, during the Hot Season, the hotter the better, and 44 degrees C is a rarity that I enjoy, most. But, when I return home, I prefer to enter a house that is really cool, around 22. This is the way I like to live my life. And, I am just so grateful that I am blessed with ACs that are powerful enough for me. If I wanted to endure the "pain" of extreme heat, as you seem to enjoy, then I would head for India where the WET BULB TEMPS are so high that people die. Also, your ambition is bound to fail. The body gets stressed, significantly, when the WET BULB TEMPs rise above a certain level. If you really want pain, then why not experiment with heat stroke, and see how you like it.
  3. So here is the price for this board in Taiwan, at ShunFa.... ShunFa, as you know if you have lived in Taiwan, is a good place to buy computer components. I used to shop there many years ago. The prices are OK. But, in this case, Amazon USA beats ShunFa by a bit. Still, this is a good price, at NTD8490. So then, why is the price quoted on Advice... Bt.11,900 ????? Is there a reason for this huge price difference? Now, I wish I were in Taipei, for a day...... (Maybe mainboards are just more expensive in Thailand? But why?) Taipei is a good place to shop for computer components. But, parking is very difficult.
  4. By the way, earlier today, a member on the forum mentioned ADVICE for finding deals. But, look at this from Advice..... Way too high in Thailand! Price in Thailand vs Price on Amazon in USA. Like, almost double here. Why? What a ripoff!
  5. I do not care about the heat of Thailand. I have ACs running 24/7/365. I keep my rooms at about 20 degrees C. Why? Because, I spent a few years in HK. If you have ever been to HK, then you will know that guys in HK like their living spaces super cold during the hottest times of the year. I have a 24,000 BTU AC in my bedroom. I like to sleep at 18 degrees C during the months of March, April and May. When not asleep, I just have the temps set at 22. I am not worried about heat.
  6. Why is this ASUS mainboard so expensive at JIB (Thailand)??? I really want this MoBo for my Intel i5, BUT, I will NOT pay almost double in Thailand, or at JIB, to get it. What to do? This is the MoBo for me. But, why is the price so crazy high in Thailand, anyway? Any thoughts? (Also, the JIB board is not even the DDR5 version. What is going on with JIB, these days? How could import duty be so high as to cause this huge price difference??? I wonder.....) But, no worries...because.... I have Old Friends in China who can help me get the newest boards from China, at the lowest cost, and hand-carry them to me here in CM. I am so lucky to have Old Friends in China who appreciate this Old Ham......
  7. I, too, am looking for some way to seal my bedroom windows in order to minimize incursion of dust, as well as noise. I had thought of the 3M Tape solution. But, I am still looking for a better solution which I can apply from within, and not from without. I do not want to have unsightly tape visible from the exterior. (My windows are those wooden ones that "open out" and pull closed. They always leave open "cracks" which let dust and noise in.)
  8. a. It might possibly be an installation issue. b. My belief is that it is a manufacturing defect issue, and production QC issue with the fan manufacturer, and the testing of the fan before assembly in Malaysia with the AC, on the production line. c. One commenter has already stated that this noise issue is not as intended in the original design of the machine. Therefore, the fan needs to be replaced, I guess. However, how to communicate this to the importer of the ACs manufactured in Malaysia? I do not know. As I have stated: This multinational has a large group in Thailand, and a manufacturing site in Malaysia where the ACs are built. Trying to communicate with these groups, and also trying to communicate with the local designated service center, which is not part of the multinational, is very difficult. Also, another compounding factor seems to be lack of adequate understanding and poor communications due to lack of English language skills, even though, as we know, a multinational should realize that the English language is sort of the Lingua Franca for conducting international business. Welcome to the Kafkaesque world of HVAC in Thailand, I guess....BIG TIME.
  9. I have never had any problems setting up a Gmail account. Personally, I have over 25 separate Gmail accounts which I have set up over the past 11 years. Important Note: The new policy is to delete these accounts if not used during a 2-year period of time. At least, this is my understanding. I like to sometimes use creative names for my Gmail accounts. Sometimes, I even use obscene names for my Gmail account. And, Google never becomes, in the least, flustered when I do. I am sure that someone here on TV knows about some of my creative names for my Gmail accounts, but not ALL of them. In short, setting up a Gmail account is just as easy as it has ever been. This is the closest thing we will ever get to a Free Lunch, maybe....
  10. I used Express VPN in China...for about a year. GuangZhou ChengDu I received quite good support. Maybe you can just contact Express VPN, and ask? Also, as far as I know, these guys at Express VPN are located on a beautiful tropical island. I forget which one, at the moment. My Chinese friend uses Express VPN anytime he returns home, behind the Bamboo Curtain. I would continue to use Express VPN, for sure, if I needed to return to China. Hopefully, I will not need to, not until the demise of Xi.
  11. No Simon! There is a time and place for everything, under heaven. This is my time for a very serious post. These AC issues are driving me CRAZY. I am unable to communicate with the local service people in any adequate way. They just do not get anything! They look at me with vacant stares....and it's unnerving; please believe me. Am I in the Twilight Zone? It is the VERY RARE times like these that I wish I were back in Taiwan, where the technicians were from planet Earth, and not from Neptune. Anyway, Simon.... At my wits end, I am now even thinking of buying some type of premium aftermarket fan, of identical specs, and installing it myself, just to prove my point to these local service guys, and even to the company itself...because.... This machine is manufactured in Malaysia. When you call the local multi-national office/company headquarters in BKK, they seem to know NOTHING. In fact, for any technical question, the BKK guys must send emails to Malaysia just to get a reply about any simple technical issue. So, in truth, the BKK office is nothing more than a sales and importing group, and not a technical/manufacturing group. They tell you that they will contact the manufacturer in Malaysia, their manufacturing site. And then, you need to wait for a reply, from Malaysia, passed through the guys in BKK. It's like.... It's like a game of CHINESE WHISPERS: It seems that most of the manufacturing/tech people have been moved out of Thailand. This company stopped producing ACs in Thailand, several years ago, according to my understanding. So, Simon.... Thank you for your reply.....! (Also, here on TV, I will not name the manufacturer. There is no point or benefit in doing so.)
  12. Yes. This could happen with an AC that is not an inverter unit. However, the reason I pointed out that this is an inverter unit is because.... With an inverter unit, the fan speed progresses in very many "steps" from lowest RPM to highest RPM. And so, the lower range of RPM speeds are not a problem The higher range of RPM speeds are not a problem. It is only the mid-range of RPM speeds which are loud and noisy and "rattling". Also, the machine will often just stay at the mid-range RPM speeds, and this becomes unacceptable, in a very short time.
  13. a. The best solution would be to solve the fan problem. b. The next potential "solution" might be to move the compressor unit about 10 meters from the window of the room in which the indoor evaporator unit is located. c. However, it is my understanding that there might be some loss in efficiency by extending the length of copper pipe from the evaporator unit to the condenser unit, due to heat loss from the extended coolant pipe. (maybe only marginal efficiency loss, but IDK) Try explaining this, in Thai, to your local AC service person, why don't you? This will really put hair on your chest.
  14. a. I think it might not be good for me to mention the brand/manufacturer. b. The outdoor unit, the compressor unit, is sitting on adequate rubber feet. This is not the problem. In fact, the machine is quite heavy. And, the "outer case" of the outdoor unit is rock steady, and does not vibrate. c. The only vibration, or noise, seems to be coming solely from the compressor unit fan. AND, the compressor sound is quite normal. The issue is not the compressor. d. I would provide photos, if needed. But...then...photos of what? I would need to open the case of the outdoor unit to take a photo of the fan. e. The AC was purchased new, about four months ago. f. This AC brand is similar to the premium brands, such as Hitachi. But, this is NOT a Hitachi. Neither is it a Daikin. And, neither is it Mitsubishi. Perhaps Important: This machine was manufactured in Malaysia.
  15. Thank you. YES, I agree this might very much involve harmonic resonance induced noise/vibration. However, the sound, the "high-pitched" rattling sound, makes me think that there is something more to this than just harmonic vibration, or resonance.... Anyway, thank you. If you might have any further thoughts..then...please add if you have time. (As stated above: Two out of three of these ACs have had this problem of excessive vibration, and excessive noise, at only certain RPM. However, just try to explain this to some local technician. This is an almost impossible proposition. I wish I could just swap out the fan on the new AC for another fan, and then test to see what happens. But, how to get the locals to do this, is not going to be easy.)
  16. One thing I will always recall is that.... We once had an extremely nice lady who did the cleaning and managing of our building. Then, I left for China. When I returned, she was no longer working at the building. I asked if she had retired. The owner told me that she had not retired. She had, instead, been killed. She had been run down by a pickup truck, while riding on her tiny motorbike. She was such a nice person. So kind. Always a smile Hard to forget this. And that was over eight years ago.....
  17. Such a nice sentiment. Trump is definitely a Strong Man, if there ever was one. Xi is also a Strong Man, if there ever was one. They both come from the ends of the earth. They both stood face to face, and they knew they were the same. And, what is a strongman? Xi is the only one who can solve China's many problems, even though he, himself, is the problem Trump may, in the end, solve all of the world's problems, in one fell swoop, or one full sweep. Beware the strongmen....
  18. Just terrible! Please stop riding here, Folks! This is not the place for worry-free riding. I know a few, personally, who have died in this way. NG!
  19. Absolutely, I do not pay any attention to Trump. What would be the point of doing so? Trump can do his thing. I will do my thing. I will take the high road. Trump will take the low road. And, never the twain shall meet. This guy just must be a Trump Man! Don't you just HATE country bumpkins!? And, there is no accord between Trump and the rest of the world, and there never was. Trump appeals most to the country bumpkins of America, IMHO.... \ But...even though I will never return to America... I would gladly go to Scotland or Ireland.... Much more preferably....
  20. There are no cretins on TV, in my honest opinion. (Maybe only a few misunderstood individuals....)
