Thoughts on the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics
GammaGlobulin replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
What are they celebrating in this image.... Halloween? When I was young, and in the USA, this would have been the very last thing you might have expected to see...ANYWHERE. All this holier-than-thou holy rolling? Such antics would have us rolling on the floor with utter mirth. What young people do not understand about religion, these days, is that it was NEVER so Over-The-Top, mid-century, as it is now. Are these people praying for something? And what are they praying for? A win for their side? A Whopper at Burger-King with everything on it? This type of behavior would not have been tolerated in the world of my youth, in America. Back in the day, the zaniest we got was to think that we could cross our legs and levitate... And, we could! -
Elderly Man Dies in Phuket after Falling from Bike
GammaGlobulin replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Sounds like he died suddenly from some type of infarction. Therefore, this death was most likely utterly unrelated to biking, unlike that other guy, recently reported. No doubt, I would say, that he had a broken thrombosis. This is often true in such cases. And, what about his liver? Alcohol causes all of this, including infarcts. Let's wait for the update on his postmortem. I just hope that he gets a qualified/talented doctor, this time, to perform his autopsy. Sounds like, while alive, he may not have received all that the medical profession is able to provide in these modern times. -
My qualifications? I'm with Elon.

Had a house in Naples. Used to row from near Tin City, where I launched the Alden single-shell, then south and out through the channel to the Gulf, and then up past Port Royal, and then past and through Naples Pier, and then further north to around 7th Ave North, where I carried/portaged the shell to a waiting motorized vehicle. That is a very long row, believe me, when done in the hot sun, starting at NOON. That was in 1990. Naples was still livable then.... But NOT now, for sure. Naples, comparatively, these days is a dump. A shame...really.
-
Just as I thought. I would guess that you are from Naples, Florida.

No harm down, as usual.

Even I as an American can see that my error is one of logic and not really an error in grammar. I am impressed that you noticed this error which I don't consider to be too glaring. But then, as I just stated, you are probably from the UK, and at schools in the UK many of the teachers teach English, unlike most of the teachers in North America. I am enjoying this new Quiz Game on TV, already!
-
If you are from the UK, then I must defer to your better judgment on this finer point. The reason I do is that I am an American, and we all know about the Americans. Why does the average writer living in the UK write better than the average writer residing in North America? Are you able to answer this question, too?
-
OK, Sir. I will do my very best. But, I must tell you that there are actually TWO ways to score very well on any multiple choice test. method a: Score 100-percent by choosing answers that are 100-percent correct. method b; Score 100-percent by choosing answers that are 100-percent incorrect. Either way, due to probability theory, method A and method B will NOT be so easy. Not easy.

BOTH the USA and the UK are facing what one might call "browning" issues. Both the USA and the UK are getting browner. As demographics continue to change, some people will not want to adjust. And, it's even possible that entire societies will be unable to adjust so quickly. We knew that the browning is happening, decades ago, and we did not prepare ourselves for this certainty, psychologically. Now, those who had not been doing the research, wonder what has suddenly come upon the world. There were many articles that one could have read, many decades ago. Demographic changes are UNSTOPPABLE. Even in authoritarian countries such as China, demographic change seems to have a mind of its own. For example: https://www.npr.org/2016/10/12/497529936/how-the-browning-of-america-is-upending-both-political-parties Fortunately, for some of us, we did our research early, decades ago, like FOUR decades ago, or MORE. In my case, I realized that the browning of America was unstoppable. I knew that this would cause great instability, politically and socially. And so... I Got Out of Dodge and traveled to, and lived in, countries which were ALREADY BROWN! It worked for me. I love living in Asia, where everything is either Brown or Golden Brown Speaking of Golden Brown.... I also love this song about loving Golden Brown... From my perspective, I am, personally, ALREADY BROWN myself, too.

More like the trivia police, I guess. Anyway, this is about quizzes, and the question of Trivial Pursuit may crop up from time to time. I just want us all to be prepared. And, speaking of preparation, do you think the graders of these quizzes will penalize test-takers for guessing wrong answers? This happens on some multiple-choice tests, but not on others. Just asking.

EGGS, too. I eat an average of 8.5 eggs per day. 0.8 mg of iron per egg, is my estimate... TUNA, too. 1.5 cans of tuna, 150 grams tuna per can, 2.5 mg iron per can, approx BINGO: 10.6 mg intake...approx Requirement: 8 mg But Wait, There's MORE! It's always best not to obsess about one's dietary intake of just about anything.... SABAI, SABAI..... Try not to worry about the iron thing. But, it sounds like a bad idea to hand out iron, willy-nilly, in such an uncontrolled setting. I would not do it. Remain calm, and Carry on...

Chinese tourists accused of killing kitten with luggage
GammaGlobulin replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Cruelty toward animals is a SURE SIGN, and an EARLY SIGN, of Psychopathic Personality Disorder, and Sociopathy. Under a Socialist Government, almost anyone can easily become a Sociopathist. It's a given. The cruelty of the State filters down....to the People. Just as in the USA the wealth of the SuperRich trickles down to the have-nots. This is just Economics 101 and Psychology 101, combined into One. -
Maybe because, throughout your entire life, you were playing the wrong game, trivia pursuit, instead of Trivial Pursuit?
-
On this quiz, with five questions and five answer choices per question, if a member were to pick answers at random, then what might be the probability of scoring 20/100? And, what might be the probability of scoring 0/100? Thank you.
-
Did you abort before completion? Otherwise, 2 seconds is hardly believable. The only other possibility is hacking of the quiz.
-
That's because,... not only did he attend school in Canada, but he also excelled at school in Philly. Peterson, by contrast, is a complete AIRHEAD. Maybe too much Xanax in past years......

I just completed this quiz. My Score 0/100 My Time 65 seconds
-
I have yet to complete this quiz. My Predicted Score: 0/100 My Predicted Time: Infinite The only US History I have ever read is the history behind Taft's Bathtub. I know a LOT about Taft and His Bathtub. But, this is the absolute limit of my US-History knowledge.

Sounds like you have a .... Good Wife, or a Very Good Wife.... Maybe you should remember, even more often, to bring her flowers, each day, when you return to your castle.

Outrage Sparked in Thailand Over Apple's 'Out of Office' Advert
GammaGlobulin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I agree with you. APPLE is GARBAGE Apple OS is garbage. User control is at minimum. Instead, use Linux Apple air/mac is garbage. User has no control, or not as much with Linux or even Windows OS. Apple phone is GARBAGE.... Samsung MUCH BETTER for price and user experience and no wasted money on apps, as with Apple store. So, A is a Ripoff, compared to Samsung and Google PlayStore. SAMSUNG Every Time, as you correctly state!!! -
Seriously? (This I cannot say for sure. However, when I purchased the Electrolux 56 Liter oven, two girls that I know did not have a clue what it was used for. They were afraid to turn the heat up to 250 degrees C, with nothing in it, and feared the oven might get too hot. So, yes, it might be true that most people here do not have experience with electric ovens, other than microwave ovens. But, they do know how to cook chicken on the grill, by the side of the road....And in this they are EXPERTS.!!!)
-
I beg to differ: a. I found the NC-60301 at a deep discount. So, I will buy at this price. The reason I found this oven is DUE TO THE FACT that the OP posted this Topic. This caused me to do a search to find what is available in Thailand, CHEAP. And, I found the item I will buy today, at the store, and not online. So, NOT Garbage Out, on this point. b. I stated that I would get one of those Halogen ovens, the type with the large glass bowl. I used these in Taiwan for many years. The problem is that the heating mechanisms used to "burn out" after a year of heavy use. But, this is OK with me now...because.... I am relatively WEALTHY now, and I can afford to throw my money around on a Bt.1000 oven these days. In past decades, in Taiwan, this same Bt.1000 oven would cost over double. And, at the time, I thought it was not worth that much. So, on this point, I know you will agree that this is NOT ...... GARBAGE Out... c. I like to cook 54 chicken-breast halves ALL AT ONE GO. This saves on heating up the kitchen more than once per month. I have previously explained my logic in prior posted comments and Topics. This also saves Energy and reduces my contribution to Global Warming. So, on this point...NOT....GARBAGE Out.....!!!! No harm done, though. I understand how you might have misunderstood my logic... Many people do. People on TV, some of them, say I am weird. I agree. But... The question is.... Am I not only weird, but garbage, TOO???? No. I am DUST. Specifically....STARDUST. And... So are you. Here is the PROOF of this statement, and NOT...GARBAGE, by any means....: STARDUST! NOT Garbage!
