  1. neither have i, but, frankly mate, we're hardly her target audience, so it's not that surprising is it? unless i've got you wrong and you are an avid listener to thai teenage pop music, and haven't heard of her, in which case you have a point.
  2. looking forward to taking this train. it's a pity there's been such a lack of investment in the railway infrastructure over the years.
  3. A group of Indian tourists sparked outrage online from Thai netizenw after being caught littering into the sea pot. kettle. black.
  4. Instead, they put the money in their daughter’s account, believing she wouldn’t touch it as she was a well-behaved girl who rarely left home or socialised. how well do any parents really know their children? my parents certainly had very little idea about what i was up to as a teenager.😁
  5. agree. on the other hand to get so wound up about such an insignificant thing probably means the rest of the OPs life is pretty goo
  6. i was on a train from ayutaya to bkk, we stopped on the outskirts of bkk, after about 20 mins people were just sitting there, no announcements, i decided to get off and have a look. a quick inspection of the front of the train highlighted the problem, the engine had gone. clearly we would be sitting there in ignorance for a while, so i grabbed my stuff and jumped in a passing taxi.
  7. couldn't agree more, state pensions are pretty much the minimum someone needs to survive in later life. there is plenty advice during ones working life on the importance of making adequate financial preparations and plans for retirement, some people take notice, some don;t.
  8. awful rate mate, i'm getting 5.2% fixed rate set up last year, and 4.6% on one set up this year, in the uk though 😁
  9. there are trained, experienced, reliable and competent plumbers in thailand, the knack is sorting the wheat from the chaff. this would be fairly easy back home, but potentially more difficult here, depending on your awareness of thai language and culture. though, as a local, your thai partner really should be able to find an appropriate tradesman/woman. i mean, if you were back home and needed a plumber you would't expect your thai partner to find one, you'd do it yourself because the understand what's going on!
  10. well, yes, should be easy to check the flow from house to septic tank, then the problem is locating the leak. have a house in the countryside in the uk, was so happy to get rid of the septic tank when mains sewerage came the the village 10 years ago.
  11. depends what you mean by earn; turnover or profit or paying yourself a salary... all very different things
  12. Thailand, with its stunning beaches, warm climate, and unique culture, stunning beaches? my sister lives in australia where even the most bog standard beach knocks anything i've seen in thailand right out of the park, only someone who has never been to a decent beach would call thai beaches stunning. isn't every culture unique?
  13. you need to be on them straight away and challenge them if they don;t use the meter, if they create a fuss i just get out at the soonest opportunity, admittedly possibly not an option in your current situation.
  14. The gratuitous offers of advice of "caveat emptor" always seems to appear in hindsight. sure, often, but not exclusively, and this is because issues appear after the fact, so it is in hindsight.
  15. there were 3 or 4 different nationalities taken hostage in the iranian embassy siege, the rescue of the hostages was absolutely not dependent on their nationality.
  16. how do you know the bar is profitable? turnover is vanity, profit is sanity.
  17. it's not a start because they are relying on the, already discredited, check and enforcement process and protocols, what is needed is root and branch reform, but that's not going to happen. in fact once the news cycle has moved on from this story absolutely nothing will change. it's all about optics.
  18. too worried about popularity. a few years ago the govt, very sensibly, stopped the dangerous practice of carrying people in the back of pick ups, people complained and the govt u turned. pathetic.
  19. there are, i've used them
  20. anything over 50K you have to declare. though suggest you check thai govt web sites. google is your friend.
  21. how do you know she knew that she had an STD?
  22. true, my parents had no idea of about 90% of the stuff i got up to when i was a teenager. more effective policing and enforcement of existing legislation would go someway to changing what is a dreadful behavioral cultural on thai roads, and i include foreigners as well as locals in this.
  23. so, you're unable to process basic information and navigate an airport, thanks for letting us know.
  24. the whole QR code payment system is unnecessarily convoluted and prone to error, other more user friendly and efficient systems exist, cashless payments are so much quicker and more accurate in the uk.
  25. long haul flights from reputable international airlines land in thailand, are you saying thailand does not conform to international airline/aviation safety standards?
