How to tell if you're dealing with a MAGA folk?
HappyExpat57 replied to StandardIssue's topic in Political Soapbox
I wonder about the same thing about Nazi sympathizers in Germany. We all know they still exist, and among those who openly admit it, their numbers went from 25,000 registered right-wing extremists in 2010 to 33,300 in 2020. I hate to say, but this current poor excuse for a human being who plops his fat ass behind the resolute desk has emboldened them to crawl out from under the slimy rocks they've been hiding under for so long. This is a sad statement of the species that I don't think will leave any time soon. I've posted this once, I'll post it again: -
I've only had to renew mine once from Thailand. I used this outfit: https://thaivisa-express.com/ They caught a mistake made by the idiots at the photo shop - I had told them I needed US-sized photos, they gave me UK, and to the untrained eye they look very similar. That alone saved my months of wondering where in the world (literally) my passport was. They appear to do UK passports according to their website but they do US as well, maybe other countries. And the gals at the desk are very easy on the eyes. WELL worth the price.

How to tell if you're dealing with a MAGA folk?

Made in GYNA = China? About America being the greatest, I'd take issue with that. It USED to be the GOAT just after WW II, creating the most robust economy in the written history of the planet. A single earner could raise a family, send kids to nice schools, buy a car, etc. However, it's been going steadily downhill since. This decline has been accelerated with the SCOTUS decision to let dark money into politics, and now both sides of the aisle are more beholden to their corporate masters than their constituents. As a result we have entered A Golden Age 2.0. Can the US get back to a more fair and equitable state of being? Hope springs eternal but I wouldn't bet on it happening for at least two or three generations from now - if ever. The militarization of the police force (and this has been happening under Dems and Reps alike) has created an atmosphere of societal submission. Once in power, politicians are reluctant to let it go. Time will tell. -
The few items I buy (milk, a rice/meat quick meal, etc) are always the same price regardless of the 7/11 or the city they're in.

Thanks to the Elon stooges, US citizens need to get a subscription to lock down their social security numbers. Lifelock and Experian are two. About $10 USD/month. I use two US-based credit cards regularly. Both are 100% safe. I've had illegal charges made to both, and each time the companies dropped the charges. It DOES become a nuisance, a new card must be issued and forwarded to Thailand, but it happens so infrequently that it's tolerable. Part of the cost of living in LOS.

When was the last time that you spoke with a foreigner?
HappyExpat57 replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I had a house I was renting out in Washington State, owned it outright. I have a decent civil service pension, but when I considered moving back, looked at the costs of STILL having to pay property taxes and maintenance, then add to that it's Washington State (ick!), I'd have a slightly better than meager existence there. I sold that thing as soon as I saw where the US economy was heading for the next four years, and will now live in Thailand as a millionaire (and that's when being a millionaire meant something). -
Thai MOE National Testing
HappyExpat57 replied to HappyExpat57's topic in Teaching in Thailand Forum
There are PLENTY of practice tests available. I just want to know what sections to place the most emphasis. For example, (and these are all word problems), there are questions about map reading, graph reading, conversation, everyday situations, etc. -
Hi, looking for info for preparing my Grade 6 students for their Thai MOE national test, Foreign Language (English) section. I understand they have 50 minutes to complete the test. What is the breakdown? 10 minutes for conversation, 20 minutes for Grammar and Vocab, etc.?

I would bet my bottom dollar they make blades that will deteriorate within a specific time. If they made a blade that only needed replacing every 6 months, they'd go out of business.

I have to admit, teaching in Chanthaburi, I am about the only foreigner out here. I occasionally see a fellow farang at Big C, but we don't offer any kind of recognition. During school breaks, I travel to Jomtien/Pattaya and get together with my farang friends. I never feel lonely, I'm too damned busy for that. It works for me for now, and when it doesn't, I will change my situiation. -
A few years ago, I worked for a branch of the largest private school system in all Southeast Asia (if you know, you know). Every 5-7 years, the director would steal the teachers' retirement fund, blame it on the head financier at that branch who would mysteriously disappear for a few months. The financier would return with a promise to repay it at a rate of 50k baht/month, no jail time nor police intervention. Right ... And that was just one case of unbelievable corruption I saw there. It's just SO baked into the system that no one raises an eyebrow any more. Mai pen rai.

The post above already spoonfed you. I won't do that, do your OWN damned homework. -

I'm not gonna spoonfeed the intentionally ignorant. The class teaches you about the LAW that you are woefully ignorant about and refuse to learn so you can continue to spout nonsense. I'm done here. -

Rise out of your ignorance and learn some civics, particularly the emoluments clause. -

The tangerine traffic cone of treason listens to her, then rebroadcasts her nonsense. These are dangerous times, too many idiots that can't think for themselves. -

That's the problem - people LISTEN to that loon and take her garbage as gospel truth. -

Remember when he said "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?" This plane is nothing compared to that. NORMAL people understand how disgusting and illegal this is, but when it comes to his supporters, normal is an adjective that doesn't apply.- 223 replies

Also not a hobby. As a teacher, I have to maintain some level of decorum. Mon, Wed, Fri works well. Gillette foamy menthol is my go to, and I can only find it regularly on Lazada. Harry's razors have a nice heft to them, but blades have to be imported, so the Gillette Mach 3 is a decent substitute, then the Bic yellow disposables for under the nose.
