  1. I think you'll find most of us are quite relaxed. Your post is obvious to anyone with an IQ above 10. What concerns us is when and how the Thai government accepts the covid reality. Until that time, I think the Thai government will limit the tourist numbers by various means. They are scared of the Thai health care system being overwhelmed.
  2. https://www.pattayamail.com/news/the-future-of-pattayas-walking-street-is-high-walls-and-security-patrols-374503 Who's right here? Not the first article by Barry Kenyon, that states that Walking Street is to be bulldozed. Yet, Adam Judd of the Pattaya News, who i would think is the part owner of both publications, says this is nonsense and it will be business as usual for Walking Street. I also noted that Adam Judd said it was people outside Thailand spreading the rumours about the end of Walking Street. It's not, it's in his sister publication.
  3. You forget the very wealthy sponsors in the background who are investing in new premises. One of Nick Dean's latest danders down Soi Chatapom, shows three shops knocked into one. It's going to be a gentleman's club/ night club. Totally gutted and remodelled. It's called High Rollers. Pattaya in 2019 had hardly enough patrons to make Soi Chatapom work, let alone gentlemen's clubs. The triangle bar was packed every night to be fair. Either money to burn, waste, right off against tax or launder, Pattaya always has someone waiting to have a go. I wouldn't concern yourself with Nick Dean, someone will make sure he gets through. Even if there are very few tourists, i would think expats will keep the place ticking over to next year. The future of Pattaya will depend on how quickly Thailand allows a stamp on your passport in BKK.
  4. It should be, it started six months ago. If it's receding, it's doing it very slowly indeed. The UK's covid surveillance of the general population means it can pinpoint exact outbreaks and trends immediately. Thailand is a shambolic basket in comparison.
  5. Who needs Crossroads, Emmerdale or Neighbours when you've got these clowns bringing their show to town.
  6. You won't get an answer. Grabbing at straws and misinterpreting data is all part of his daily posting routine. Thanks for taking the time to highlight the inconsistencies.
  7. With only a pitiful 40,000 tests a day, it's surprising anyone takes any figures Thailand publishes seriously. From testing to vaccine procurement Thailand has been next to useless.
  8. The UK does 1 million tests per day. Thailand does about 40,000 tests. UK is highly vaccinated, Thailand isn't. Life is back to normal in the UK, you can't even get a beer with a meal in Thailand.
  9. Thailand's vaccination progress is pathetic. Nearly a year after vaccines where discovered and they only have about 30% of the population fully vaccinated. Even that figure is most likely incorrect because many people got the BOGOF vaccine from big brother. The West said months ago that herd immunity would be impossible but as usual it takes months for that to be computed by Thai's.
  10. Weather is perfect in Thailand, how can this have happened? I forgot you need a canoe to get around Pattaya. No electricity as well. That's third world infrastructure for you. I believe this inclement weather has been going on for a month? Ah well, makes a nice change from hot, humid and clammy.
  11. No condos will be well managed with very few renters/booking.com/airbandb coming to Pattaya anytime soon. With a lot of expats leaving or stuck abroad, i doubt management fees are being paid. Anyone who invested in a condo in Pattaya might as well have flushed their money down a toilet. UK property capital values increasing at 10% plus per year. Pattaya condos unsellable and unrentable.
  12. China won't be doing anything about Taiwan. China's all fur coat and no knickers. They know the world is losing patience with them, so i think you might see the odious fascist CCP settle down and begin to play nicely with the other children.
  13. Going nowhere fast. Like wading in treacle. I doubt bars and nightlife will be opening anytime soon.
  14. Looks like anything, covid related, manufactured in China ends up being binned or slowly got rid off.
  15. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/thai-residents-turn-to-phuket-sandbox-scheme-for-a-quarantine-free-route-home I can't be bothered wasting my time with you.
  16. There's always one. It's just it's always the same one apologising and making excuses for the Thai government now having to tax tourists for there own incompetence. If this was a 1000 baht surcharge to cover automatic covid health insurance then, for the sake of simplicity, everyone would applaud it. As @Bkk Brian has pointed out, the contradiction of Thailand wanting tourists back with the one hand, but putting the other in their pockets, has not gone unnoticed.
  17. I would think that the restrictions and lack of testing are what's having an effect on the numbers. With the reality that herd immunity is not reachable, Thailand has a long way to go to get back to normality. Especially with a completely clueless government in charge. Vaccine pace seems to be dropping as well, so even their hoped for figure of 70% fully jabbed by end of year seems doubtful now.
  18. Your so funny Harry. The best you can always do is the UK's 'dark and cold'. I don't know what part you always visit because my bit has been dry and bright. A beautiful time of year in Autumn. Just in case you've been on another planet Harry, Thailand has had heavy monsoon rains and flooding for a month. You would have needed a canoe instead of a car to get about Pattaya. Suppose that makes a nice change from unbearably hot or unbearably hot, sticky and raining. 68,000 people attended the Antony Joshua fight in London rhe other weekend, so i'll leave other people to judge whether the UK is open or not. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/16225835/anthony-joshua-boxing-fame-spurs-stadium-big-crowds-return/ And no Harry it's not a competition because that would indicate you would have a fighting chance.
  19. Hint :You mean China is an uninvestable Communist state? Run by a totalitarian gang of brutal overlords? Determined to "bang the head of any enemy off a wall of steel until it's bloodied." Difficult too know exactly what you mean because it's a bunch of riddles. If your busy at work feel free to not reply, I don't want you getting in trouble with "big boss." https://citywire.co.uk/wealth-manager/news/fundsmith-we-ve-been-proved-right-on-chinese-burn-fears/a1561031?assetClassID=1
  20. Just like Koh Samui has https://bangkokherald.com/thailand/koh-samui/failed-samui-plus-scheme-drew-only-786-tourists-in-2-months/
  21. Oh dear. The boards loyal band of CCP apologists will be along soon to put a spin on this. A country and economy built on sand. Evergrande set to raise more cash from partial sale of its property services unit https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/04/evergrande-set-to-sell-part-of-stake-in-property-services-unit.html?__source=androidappshare
  22. The only figures that matter are the current ones. Those figures relate to the Delta variant, the effects of restrictions and a slowing vaccination campaign by the looks of it. Covid was a game of two halves for Thailand. Only the most knaive or gullible of posters would fail to understand or comprend that.
  23. Ventilator numbers are hardly budging. Just shows the effort, time and resources put into these patients. These unfortunate people are who jam up a countries healthcare care system. Thailand won't be encouraging unrestricted mass tourism for along time to come.
  24. No, but the possibility of testing positive and incarcerated in a hospital for 2 weeks might be a tad inconvenient. Plus the possibility of your insurer not paying up for you being asymptomatic. 76 provinces with 76 different decision makers opening or closing at a whim doesn't inspire confidence. Just like Koh Tao did.
