Paul Watson's Anti-Whaling Crusade Continues Behind Bars in Greenland
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
2 of the 3 species (Minke & Brryde's) they hunt definitely are not endangered The 3rd, (Sei) depends who talk to, and what hemisphere your thinking. May be endangered in the Southern Hemisphere. Though Japan being in the Northern hemisphere, (don't know where they hunt), may or may not be endangered, again, depends what 'agency' you reference. Along with a bit of controversy about the date IUCN used to list species as 'endangered', on their 'red list' -

Four routes under consideration for Koh Chang Bridge
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Eastern Thailand News
If they ever build these bridges, to Chang or Samui, I may even pop over for a visit. Not a fan of ferries, or either island. But if the made it easier ... might be worth the drive if in the neighborhood. Obvious choice would be one of the 6 km routes, vs 10 km bridge. -
Pickup Truck Tyre Blowout Causes Multiple Rolls: 1 Dead, 1 Injured
KhunLA replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
To add to this ... anyone driving at speed silly, should probably make sure their tires are made for higher speeds. Surely the manufacturer isn't putting high speed tires on new vehicles, since speed limits in TH are 90-120 kph. Guessing when most people replace said tires, simple state ... 'give me the same as what's on it now' or worst, go for a cheaper, less spec'd tire ... oops -
hmm ... will they ever tell what the cause was ... Owned by a 'vehicle collection company' .... hmm I guess if all the cars were insured, and totaled, that would be more profitable pay out that waiting for payment or processing selling once able to

Italian Tourist Locked in Office Over Visa Refund Dispute
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Why I didn't respond earlier. As I don't find the process of extending a hassle or time consuming, and that's probably Imm office dependent. But when someone posts ... " I use an agent because i don't want the hassle, bringing in the money and trying to navigate paperwork that I don't understand." Then I guess the agent has a customer for life, for those unwilling or unable to DIY it. Reckon the same people pay someone to do their taxes and need a bit of hand holding all through life. I actually enjoy being independent. Now if the agent would come to the house, pick up my PP and bring it back with a stamp in it for a reasonable price, then I might use agent. But $150 USD to jump a 1 hour Q, if that, then no, I don't think so. I can think of something else to spend the money on, that puts a much bigger smile on my face.- 64 replies

Second-hand tsunami: Used car flood drives Thai sellers to despair
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Definitely a buyer's market for vehicles now. Been that way for the past 4 years, since covid and economic turn down. Then along comes cheaper & better BEVs hitting the market with their own little price war. Been peeking locally on FB Marketplace, as I do, and locally, so many bargains on vehicles, and some really low prices on the ICEVs listed. Maybe jumping ship to a new BEV before the market completely collapses in 2nd hand ICEV sales. Quite a few seem to be ready to upgrade their BEVs also, as surprising numbers of 2022/2023s models on sale. Great time to be in the market for a new car. Not so good if selling an old one. Oh well, sh!t happens -
Italian Tourist Locked in Office Over Visa Refund Dispute
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Unless doing something illegal, all you're paying that agent for, is to jump the Q at Imm office. I can sit there reading the internet on my phone for an hour or less, and pay myself 5k baht & up. It might be different if I didn't have to be there at all, but since you do, and I've already done everything else, why would I pay an agent 5k baht / $150 USD, or more, just to jump the Q ?- 64 replies

Italian Tourist Locked in Office Over Visa Refund Dispute
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Got to love ... "just use an agent" advice given on the forum. She really screwed herself & agency, maybe. That's going to cost a few baht to disappear. Hopefully not, and they get shut down, though doubtful. Do what ever you want, but don't hit the news.- 64 replies

Pickup Truck Tyre Blowout Causes Multiple Rolls: 1 Dead, 1 Injured
KhunLA replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
Speed kills ... even at 90 kph, a rear blow out should be easy enough to control. You might lose it & crash, bur rolling over, not once but a few times Oh well, lesson learned, a bit late. R I P -
WW 3 will never happen Western world, most of world, already ruled by fascist hitlers. The sky is always falling, if you fall for the BS. They already got us buying water, next they'll charge you for the air you breathe, although with the carbon tax, aren't they doing that already. Can't imagine living under their oppression, and amazed I lasted as long as I did. Thailand being a breath of fresh air ... cough couch, a couple months a year

As long as we're getting 8-10 yrs or lifetime warranties, the tech advances & price depreciation really doesn't matter much. Especially if only paying 700k or less. You still have very usable vehicle if battery & motor life are even close to expectations, and in 8-10 yrs, they'll all be worth pocket change anyway. And if you're buying one of the higher spec'd, higher end EV's, do you really care how much it will cost to replace, if you going to anyway. If I'm still around in 6 more year, when warranty expires, or if they come out with a reasonably priced van or pick up, that I can turn into a camper, then I'll keep the present MG ZS for local, and maybe pick up a new toy for playing nomadic, self contained tourist playing. I really do need a new project, hobby

A slight bump in the exchange rate, in our favor. Losing side crying about how unfair the election was, and how we're all doomed, again
-
Another fine example and reason not to buy an ICEV, when this PHEV is available. Better spec'd & priced than so many legacy models.
-
Yea, I think so, as they are really nice, and well spec'd.

So it's not so much that you don't trust technology, you simply don't understand it, or know how to use it. Not an Apple fan myself, and if you knew more about Apple, you may not have bought it. They have a small market share for a reason. YouTube will teach you anything you need to know. Including how to use your phone.

Meghan Markle’s Regrets and Isolation After Royal Exit
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yes, must suck being worth only 10s or millions. One I replied to, seems to think, they are poor, and can't afford private security -
I don't, as there is no lie for predators of society. Anyone is allowed to be an idiot, but prey on people, sorry, no, not sorry ... you don't deserve to be walking among us.
-
Not really concerned with their punishment, more about ridding them from society. Total waste of money & resources keeping them alive for 10-20-30-40-50 yrs. All for prisons and death penalty for that reason. Rarely does it rehabilitate or stop crime, obviously, as the system in USA now is simply a revolving, money making door. House them for as long as possible in private facilities, make money, let 'em out, rinse & repeat. Actually more in favor of a penal colony. Some hell hole island, and just drop them off, and they are on their own. That would be a crime deterrent. F'em all. If you can't play nice, you're not allowed on the playground

I'll guess that's rhetorical, or you need to read up about on 'his' family, present & past. Not a family I'd want to belong to, IMHO ... well, except for their finances, which Meghan & Harry don't need -
