So almost half the voters are stupid, and the other half are total idiots Why I don't vote, and distance myself from both groups

Don't sell the rest of the western world short on stupidity. Look at the countries that followed the USA to war in Vietnam, Iraq Afghanistan and other silly conflicts. Not sure who is more stupid, the one who initiates wars, or the lap dogs that follow

Thailand raises retirement age to 65 for all sectors

If born this year. By the time those born this year reach 60/65, the goal post may be moved again, to what ... 80/85 -
Anyone else struggling with loud sleep farts?
KhunLA replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I found putting a small piece of garden hose in my butt, vents the gas all night, so a very sound sleep. Can't say the same about the dog busting loose while sleeping. OK as long as aimed away from my head -
Thailand raises retirement age to 65 for all sectors
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know more than a few, that didn't make to 30 yrs old. Wife's brother died at 21 yrs old. One of 8 siblings, so brings the average life expectancy of the family down a bit. It's an average life expectancy. Posted before (off topic), but my life expectancy, born 1954 (USA) is 67 I think, and coincidentally, I had a med oops 2 yrs ago, that potentially could have killed, without intervention, maybe. Would have been right on time, sort of, as USA Soc Sec starts at 66 for folks born in 1954. I know many family and peers, that didn't make 30-40-50 or 60 years old. A few didn't even make 20 yrs old. And then there is my cousin (Mother's side) who just passed yesterday, @ 84 yrs old, I think 👍 Gives me 14 more years. Although, I thought I'd beat the odds on long retirement, and did it 24 yrs ago ... JIC -
People who don't know the words they use
KhunLA replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I ignore them, as if that stupid, no sense in having a discussion with them. I just wish they could understand what they were reading when I post. Tired of pointed out I didn't state that, or they didn't understand anything, or added so much more meaning to it. As they usually just repeat what they replied, and tell me, I was wrong I've given up replying to idiots & trolls 20k posts of mine, and probably 19k+ were wasted on the brain dead -
Non-DIY Solar installation
KhunLA replied to BasketCase's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
That's how I sized mine, and it was almost perfect. Why I suggested adding 20%, as there are a few days, I wish I had a bit more. Though I also didn't have 3 BEVs when sizing the system, or as many electric appliances. Made sense for more electric powered crap, after having solar. -
Thailand raises retirement age to 65 for all sectors

Moving the goal posts ... 5 yrs is a big jump. A bit irrelevant, as the average life expectancy of someone born 65 yrs ago is only ~54 years old Born 60 yrs ago, and it's ~57 yrs old -

Renewed ins. w/Roojai TTL loss value ฿560k @ ฿13,434 Not much difference that what many ins. carriers charge for ICE version of MG ZS Y'all want to spit ball the depreciations % ... mythical ฿599k - almost none ... Purchase price ฿949k = ~41% (~14% (3 yo) or ~20 (2 yo) ... New sales price ฿829K = ~32% ... or 11% per year, this time next year (3 yo), or 16% now per year. Irrelevant for us, as stated, will never sell, and worth much more repurposed to the solar system, in hopefully 10-15-20 yrs, if ever. When ICE version of most cars will be worth -0-, the BEV battery pack will still be worth one to a few ฿100k Don't forget the ฿40-฿50k save with every 20k kms driven, depending if buying electrons from PEA, or FREE from solar. Times 10 - 20 years ... yea, why would anyone buy a BEV -

The war mongering, oil lobbyist is at it again ... anything for never ending high oil prices. -
2 thoughts ... ... scam ... treating symptoms instead of causes And people believe or endorse this crap. I'm seeing a new carbon tax to finance the silliness. Knew they would eventually find a way to charge you for the air you breathe. FFS, they already charge you for water, the most abundant resource on the planet. Amazing how stupid people are.

Didn't survey all the pool bars, (Phuket) but frequent yearly visitor to one, and same gent was there for years. Must be getting some kind of incentive to remain on the job. Great mixologist, proper Long Island Iced Tea, even during happy hour.

Non-DIY Solar installation
KhunLA replied to BasketCase's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Sizing is simple, as your PEA bill will have your units/kWh used on all bills, along with 6 month history down the bottom. Pick your highest usage, add 20%, and I'd price a system to handle that amount. It's going to be a large, expensive system, if running all those ACs in the non sun/solar producing hours. That's about 14 hrs overnight, 1800 to 0800 hrs There's only 2 of us, and we only run 1 (13k BTU) overnight, and have 20kWh of ESS/battery. Use 40% of that most nights, and our system cost ฿445k. If we were running the other AC (24K BTU), then TBH, our system wouldn't really be enough. I wouldn't want to take the ESS down to 30% or less every night. How many people in the house, during daytime and or nighttime, along with running the ACs. We can use 1000kWh during March, April, May, and that's just 2 of us, and just those two ACs (13&24k BTU). Bedroom on 24 hrs, and larger one on, only 10 hrs, if that. We have BEVs, but our local driving is minimal, and not that much of a drain keeping them charged up. Plenty of excess to keep them charged. Along with more than a few days, where the solar is barely enough to supply the house, and recharge the batteries for overnight. ~40% of our system cost, was the ESS/battery, 20kWh @ ฿185k of that ฿445k. -
Some advice/opinions please on moving to Hua Hin
KhunLA replied to delgarcon's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
Agree, and later years, when overnighting in HH, usually stayed at Ibis (pet friendly), and about as far North we'd go, is simply to Bluport Mall, or to Market Village, if wanting something actually there. Spent most time on Southern end also. First 15 ish years here, quite the opposite, and stayed sort of central off main road from RR station to Centara (soi 61). Cheaper & quieter than the main area, with easy access to everything. Way less tourist (and cheaper) than now, and we stopped going to the area for that reason. Along with favorites closed up (suspect rent hikes) and everything else, catering to tourist's taste (crap), with higher pricing. Really lost interest in HH, especially after Heineken stopped sponsoring the Jazz Festival, as regularly attended, think ~8 years in a row, since it's start. As stated earlier, not really a fan of HH now. -

Some advice/opinions please on moving to Hua Hin
KhunLA replied to delgarcon's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
On the rains ... we're still getting rain here, like right now, and a bit of a downpour, which will be short. Wish that was a daily thing. Past couple years, seems 'Climate Change' has arrived Notice the rains seem to be starting later, late May, instead of late April. Along with extending into late Oct, instead of end of Sept. Nice now, but really makes late Feb, March, April and most of May, damn hot ... brutally hot. So if not a hot & humid weather person, think hard about living in PKK province, as one of the drier provinces = hot, damn hot, at times. Longer than I'd prefer. If big fan of AC, it will run you PEA bill up, if not having solar. Common sense as always, rent for a year or 2 before buying in any where. -

KhunLA replied to delgarcon's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
We get 2-4 months of AQI 50-100 where we are, 1.5 hrs / 100 kms away from Hua Hin. As stated, most would be bored here, especially if wanting, needing what @spidermike007 has mentioned (pluses of HH). Between here / Muang, PKK, and Chumphon, you have Bang Saphans (yai/noi), and I never warmed up to them. Ban Krut is great, but even I'd be bored there ... nuff said. I like Chumphon, though don't desire, need anything (expats & nightlife) that SpiderMike mentioned. Just give me decent food and good views (not city views), which Chumphon has. Also has a bit more rain, as getting into the rainy South. Chumphon, Phang Nga & Surat Thani (not Samui) seem to be green all year long, so air just gets better, and probably 3 of the better province for that, clean air. As coconut, rubber and palm farms are predominate vs rice, sugar & corn. Nakhon Si Thammarat, & Krabi (non touristy) are good choices also I personally would go further south, on the Gulf coast, and I really have explored Phatthalung & Satun that much to have an opinion. Definitely scratch Ranong if not a fan of rain. -

(Not) paying tax for my motorcycle - consequences?

Your insurance is probably useless, as illegal to drive an 'unregistered' MB. Way too easy for them to deny a claim. UP2U Not a fan of ins or taxes, but really is inexpensive, and protects you if you do hurt someone. Whether your fault of not. Sh!t happens -
Jimmy Kimble & anti Yank vid ... big surprise. USA still the 'land of opportunity' ... ... IF you apply yourself and have some common sense, and can actually think for yourself. I retired early, solely because of the opportunities in the USA, once I realized you can't depend on anything or anyone. That applies worldwide, usually. USA is simply a location, and you simply have to live with your choices.

I didn't have much trust to begin with, but now, I really don't believe anything they (govt & health advisors, all acronyms) state anymore. If covid didn't prove that to the world, then there really are some really stupid MF'ers out there. Really is no other way to state it, and the stupidity goes way beyond ignorance. I'm seriously starting to believe their goal is to depopulate, while making billions of $$$ along the way ... IMHO

Our ICE version of ZS cost about ฿1600 to fill up (91), and 600 kms range (14kpL). About ฿50k a year for our average 20k kms a year That alone was reason enough to go BEV. Added performance was a nice plus.

@eddysacc Also, if & when PEA/MEA start paying a decent rate for buyback excess solar, the 5kW Deye inverter is on their approved inverter list. Two 5kw inverters give you redundancy also, if one does have an oops. If sticking with PowMr, then two 5kW might be the way to go. We also use Deye, an 8kW inverter, 2 yrs running, flawlessly, and only regret is not going with two 5kW inverters, for the extra juice & redundancy. Big price difference though, so if budget is a concern. PowMr seems decent along with @BritManToo having good experience using 👍
