Curved roof tiles vs flat
KhunLA replied to kwak250's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
I must be going deaf then, as not hearing it. Won't be because there's possibly more profit in tile. They'll also need more steel to hold the heavy tiles up. Or they simply don't do, as old school, which would concern me more. Good Luck. Maybe we'll have a good long downpour, and I can make a vid, inside to veranda to inside, then out to the carport. Carport of course you'll hear. When in the bedroom at night if a downpour, I'll ask, 'Is that rain ? That's how little I hear' Sometimes have to turn the AC off to hear it. Not the ding ding ding, you are imagining of water on tin roof, but massive amount of water on the roof, and sounds not much different, if any, than on a tile rood, IMHO -
That's before they had competition and steady sales. BYD took a big bite out of that, so now have reduced some models, ICEV & EVs. Surprised not the EP+ although was quite the bargain, till late. Don't think they've discounted the ES either, which is a bit overpriced IMHO. VS & HS, rarely discounted, and minimal. 2025 is going to be very interesting for new car shoppers. New options, specs, and a bit of a price war, I think. The auto show should be a trip

Woman Rides Electric Suitcase While Using Phone on Busy Bangkok Road
KhunLA replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
I can talk & look at the traffic at the same time. Even put it on speaker. Sometimes, I even talk to the wife next to me while driving. I am that good 😎 Texting, very rare, and on open roads, or gridlock. Speech to text as posted. I'd say the dog is the most distracting thing, as sits on my lap. If she hasn't caused me to have an accident in 10 yrs, I don't think the phone will. Texting is kind of silly while driving. If not a quick yes or no, or call you later, I'll simply call the person, and actually talk to them. Why text ? Probably because it's free, but seriously -
@jayboy Since you mentioned Cross, guessing you really don't need something as lart as a Fortuner. If you can charge at home, don't ignore BEVs. At least take a peek and test drive one. Before splashing out 1M baht or more. Posted this earlier, ignore the rant, and just look at the specs & price. I own and love the MG ZS EV. Also had the ICEV version, and loved that. Also on sale now for 599k I think. Though for same price, hard to not go with the BEV version. ICEV, do like the Corolla Cross, and looks quite nice. That's all I know about them, as see a lot of them when O&A. Definitely would get that instead of the Yaris Cross. But seriously, for the price 1M baht, do peek at MG & BYD offerings. Daughter has the BYD ATTO 3, a more stylish MG ZS, though not a fan of the driver's seat. Very nice though. Good luck with whatever you choice is. Oh yea, here's a thread on Charging Stations (CS), and TH has more than enough. Anyone stating differently, hasn't a clue what they are talking about.

Been re-educating myself over the last couple years. Never really followed the food pyramid, but know it. And now how ridiculous it is. Did listen to the lower fat, more carbs part of 'unhealthy eating' recommende, after decades eating right, their version of unhealthy. Blood work & #s always perfect. Only changed when I started eating their version of healthy. Luckily only for about 10-15 yrs of 67 yrs. 2 full years now of complete reversal. As posted, carbs & sugars getting cut down or out. Already make our own kefir & natto for K1 & K2. Big fan of garlic & cayenne pepper. Eat blueberries & strawberries, along with dark chocolate for my sweet tooth fix. Posted more than a few times, enjoy whole food, home cooking, and little to no processed foods. Really does make a difference. Never did live on junk food, thankfully. Another reason cut statins out, as they inhibit hormone and enzyme (CoQ10) production.

Yes & no. Though my last house (my 2nd), in 2011/12 was going to be the one I died in. So like @newnative we had it built with all the comforts, pool, huge tub (use 3X maybe in 5 yrs), 400m² under roof, 220m² walled in living space. All on 2 rai, a big mistake, as way too much lawn to maintain. 12 yrs ago, so 57. After 16/17 yrs in Udon Than, kid out of high school, I've had enough of the air pollution, congestion of town, when we actually went into for the evening. More so, being so far away from where we go for O&A, PKK and beyond. With daughter stet to go to Uni at Krung Thep.... bye bye UT. Built now, 3rd house, after 3 yr tester of the area. Actually build on land we bought back in 2015, I think, 5 yrs before contracting builder. This time, minimalistic. Though did buy small lot across for garden, since house takes up most of the 1/4 rai it sits on. For the OP, @Conan The Barbarian or whoever, if you know you're going to live there for at least 5 years, then I'd buy instead of renting, as should be able to sell without taking a loss. At worst, 5 yrs rent free. Which is why I build houses here. A bit of an outlay, but aside from profit, I've lived here rent free. If not a condo, and has land, then the more land, the more appreciation, and nice profit when you do sell. Profit & rent free ... win win. This house, as BritMan points out, knockin' on 70, so there's that, though feeling pretty healthy. The wife, knockin' on 48 soon, so she'll enjoy it for the rest of her time. Made for her w/Greenhouse & garden, and she has no intention of leaving after I crap out.

Already stopped taking them / statin a while ago. Also added magnesium to my multi vit & C supplement. Get plenty of vit D from the sun. That's the only supplements I take. Just started the magnesium, and notice a major difference, all for the good. Give it another couple months, then check cholesterol again. Should be fine, and HDL/trig ratio a bit better, than before statin. BP is in perfect range. Blood sugar lower, but still in the higher range of normal, but better than earlier test. Really cut back on non fibrous carbs & sugar. Also a noticeable difference. Differences being ... ... more energy ... better sleeping ... sleeping - full 6-8 hrs, without need to P at all. Wouldn't be surprised if my prostate has shrunken back a bit, as urges are no longer there. Never was a stream problem, just bladder pressure (expanding out) and feeling of being full. Now P less often, but quite a bit more volume. Yea, I know, sharing is so fun. Ditching another med soon, as cut the dose back to once a day, instead of 2X. Kept the morning dose, as with me all during active day, then cut evening dose, as really don't do much, except TV/movies & sleep. Haven't noticed anything different since. Did the same about 6 or 9 months ago, and did notice a difference, some discomfort later in the evening. Diet change & magnesium, only differences, and one dose seems sufficient now. I'll cut that in a couple months, and see how it goes. Since cut the dose, have a wee bit more here than I need. I lost complete faith / trust in govt, FDA, CDC, NIH, all health advisory folks. That false A$$ food pyramid, what they call healthy, seems to be the exact opposite. What a racket, IMHO. Tell you to eat unhealthy, then sell meds to heal you (supposedly) when you start feeling the effects of their earlier advice ALL FOR PROFITS

Someone, anyone, point out a better car, ICEV at these or close to these 2 price points. I can't think of one. These are real prices, and are available now at MG dealers. Confirmed in person today at MG. MSRP 949k with rolling sale price 829k. Prices below, while supplies last. Guess getting rid of stock before 2025s arrive. MG ZS EV ... LFP Battery chemistry, 177 hp / 280 Nm torque 👍 Don't want a SUV (BYDs also available, too lazy to look) Prefer a Hybrid (HEV) although PHEV a better choice IMHO

Curved roof tiles vs flat
KhunLA replied to kwak250's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Start peeking at roofs while out & about driving, and you notice a lot of steel roofs about. People moving away from the 'traditional' look, as simply too practical, with added plus of better & cheaper. And looks just fine, not that people actually pay attention to one's roof. ours ... some local ones ... -

The 599k & 699k advert is accurate, and available a MG dealer, while supplies last. And if past sales #s are any indication, they have more than few sitting around. Wife is at MG dealer now, and she asked about the advert, as my link showed. 599k is pretty hard to beat. I can't think of any ICEV, 'made in TH', I'd even consider at 800k, for top end sometimes even more, over the ZS EV, at 599-699-829 or 949K. 599k or 699k takes any pause for thought away. You really got to be an idiot (yea, name calling) to buy some other ICEV, when you can have the ZS for those prices. MG4 promo is 699k, I think, or 709K now. Lucky to get AT at those price with ICEV offerings here. Unless budget challenges and going for some 400k baht POS. -

We don't really hear the rain, any extra anyway, unless we go outside, then hear it on the veranda or carport. Carport mostly, as not insulated, though would probably hear anyway, and the veranda has a ceiling. Thickest insulation BlueScope offered, plus the ceiling has rolled insulation (R+37 ?) on it. Both for heat, not sound. -
Don't know what to call this, except damn tasty 😎 Wife cooked up some veggies for her eggs/omelet this morning, and we always do extra, while at it. I added them to my ground beef with gravy & spiced it all up a bit. Turned out better than expected. Ate as is, but would go fine on rice, pasta, noodles or even mashed potatoes. Avoiding all those, staying as keto-ish as I can. Actually kind of easy, as long as I don't make bread.

3-4M baht should get you 40+m², if that's enough for you. Maybe larger if older and further out of the main. That location location location thingy. Check the property listing sites for ballpark ideas & location w/prices. Filter where (even near BTS/MRT stations), price, size: No recs , as never peeked or had real desire to live at Bangkok. Peeked for daughter though, not recently, but, you should find something nice in your budget.

I think you need to adjust those numbers to -0- years, as BEV cost same as ICEV at the moment. -
This answers that question. Why would anyone buy a ICEV SUV, sedan, hatchback or whatever car, 'made in TH', when you could have one of these. 599k or 699k baht, when you can't even get a 1.5L, AT, ICEV for that price. Mind boggling @Yellowtail I think you need to adjust your ROI #s to -0- years

I would never use roof tiles. Rolled steel for us. Step into the 21st century. Rolled steel, insulated, stronger, cheaper, lighter, can walk on and simply all around better. -

I don't need or want to go that fast. But I can get to 100 kph in ~8 secs, and pass slower cars using much less road than in our ICE version. Beats the hell out of ~12 seconds in our ICE version of the same. Don't need to get to 100 kph any faster than 12 seconds, let alone 8 seconds, unless passing, then quite handy. Again, speed limits, 90 & 120 kph. We could have got the X model of our MG ZS EV, instead of D model, for a mere 70k baht. Actually quite the bargain for the extra electronics & sunroof for that price. But we didn't want or need, or would use, so why bother. Who the hell needs to go faster than 120 kph, especially if living in TH ? i rarely drove faster than that in the USA, unless out playin on my scooters. That's an expensive ticket in the USA, and I lost my license enough times for speeding in USA ... -

You're a bit behind, as I already posted. Hydo cars around for 30 years already with plenty of R&D, and still nothing, except failed experiment in Calif, USA. We'll see flying BEVs, and cows & pigs before we see Hydo cars mass produced and on the roads with a topping up network. -

Can't speed of all manufacturers, but MG info is spot on, and most testing is done by 3rd party, so would think most are accurate ... BUT ... read the tests, speed and conditions of. Our MG ZS is rated ... NEDC 403 kms (Not Even Damn Close), for 'normal' driving, but saying that, I have actually exceeded a possible 403 kms range, during short distances. WLTP 320 kms, which we consistently exceed, even at highway speeds. Actually rare we get 320 kms from full charge. Not that we would ever take it down that low. We top up after 3-4 hrs on Thai roads, if not sooner, as that is long enough for use to be in the car at any one time. The average range is <400 kms, because most people don't need or want to pay for more. Simple enough. In TH, I've yet to have range anxiety, as more than enough CS, and I've yet the need to Q up at any, and I've driven during long weekends. Your lack of knowledge & experience in mind boggling, but continue to repeat yourself, as I always need a chuckle. -
Diarrhea Frequency & Treatment in SE Asia

How is that confusing. Just common sense. If an expat, you've been here long enough and should know, what & where to eat by now. If a tourist, and not used to lots of fruits & veggies in you diet, or spicy food, then go easy, very easy first couple weeks in SEA, and let you system adjust, as high levels of those, will act as a laxative to your system if not used to it. The rest is simply choosing wisely what & where you eat. AVOID BUFFETS -

Now you're just getting ridiculous. Again, our 2 yr old BEV has top speed of 170+kph, and gets there faster than most ICEVs. Speed limits in TH, are 90 & 120 kph and good luck with that. -

KhunLA replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You really have no clue about BEVs. A little research and or a test drive would change your mind. Even my 2 yr old BEV has more power than I'll ever need. Topping up takes less than 1 minute. Pull into carport, plug in, Unplug when done, at a fraction of the cost of petrol. Fast topping up is only an issue when O&A, only when 100s of kms away from the house. In TH, most don't do that too often. But happy to Q up every week or so for 10 mins with their ICEV. Oops, did you not add all the time topping up, to the equation. Faster charging & range improves almost monthly as new models released. Range is definitely not an issue any more, as 500+ kms is real now. -

I rarely get, almost never, although I'm usually careful with what & where I eat.
