Proof of life for American Social Security
KhunLA replied to Felton Jarvis's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
We'll just have to A2D, and since I've been audited by IRS since being here, I'm leaning towards me being correct. -

Did you appreciate living in the 70s, 80s and 90s?
KhunLA replied to thaibeachlovers's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
So true. Considering that stretch of time, it's nice just be here in the 20's and healthy, and still able to get our freak on. With the same aged partners of the 70's, if that's your choice ???? -
Electric car fire: Week-old million baht vehicle ignites in Udon Thani mall
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Yes, salt water is a whole new level of conductivity and corrosion. And the water part isn't the problem, as pure water, won't conduct electricity. Salt is the issue. -
Yes, I peeked at the MG3 when it first got here, and didn't even bother with a test drive, as it met my negative expectations, just on the showroom floor. They certainly turned that around. So glad I took another peek, few years later, MG3 still didn't do much for me, as wanting to move up from the Mazda 2, instead of the same. But the ZS in the other corner of the showroom impressed for ride, price point & value.

Past couple days, noticed my range per full charge. The other day, no surprise, and our usually 360 kms per full charge. Beating the WLTP range rating of 320. Which we get on the highway, using cruise control @ 90kph, when possible. Today a surprise, unexpected, and surpassed the NEDC rating of 403 kms. Short trip to the surf, and rare, but happens, 409 kms. Would be nice if consistent, but no, that's not going to happen in the real world. long winded post of same But 360 kms per charge, we get that consistently around town, driving quite normal, 30-60-90 kph. On that, and calculated savings, repeat from another thread for those interested. We own/owned both MG ZSs. Comparing MG ZS EV vs ICEV version EV - ฿208 per 360 kms (฿4.5/kWh (46.3kWh) ICEV - ฿1015 per 360 kms (฿39.5/L (14kpL) EV - 20k kms @ ฿11,555 ICEV - 20k kms @ ฿56,388 Battery warranty for 8 yrs ICEV petrol cost for 8 yrs = ฿450k ... nuff said

@Photoguy21 Yea, what he said, performance. Savings to maintain & operate. They don't cost more than ICEVs. MG EP @ ฿771K MG4 @ ฿869K MG ZS @ ฿949K Comparable featured ICEVs cost same or more. If not having solar, cost for 360kms Comparing MG ZS EV vs ICEV version EV - ฿208 per 360 kms (฿4.5/kWh (46.3kWh) ICEV - ฿1015 per 360 kms (฿39.5/L (14kpL) EV - 20k kms @ ฿11,555 ICEV - 20k kms @ ฿56,388

Not sure what western white male has to do with it, but I had a blast, born 1954, out of HS '73'. War winding down, so non-issue. HIV non-issue till 80's. Women on the Pill ... what's not to love. Could have done without the 2 divorces, but taken in stride, along with ever changing job market, as I actually had 30+ different jobs, and only 1 for 13 yrs. All others, 1 yr or less. Many less than 1 month. Mind boggling when I think about. Always a roof & food, and with Sex Drugs and R&R 80's music, disco, punk easily ignored. Blessed, and fortunate, and appreciate it all. -
Traveling by Bus from Chiang Mai …. around Northern Thailand.
KhunLA replied to SamSanuk's topic in Chiang Mai
No luxury in bus travel in TH. Train better for both, if available. Why not just do an inexpensive car hire/rental and self drive ? I find the journey as or more enjoyable than the destination. Car gives you options to explore. -
Out of being, sight & mind. If not for FB and or news-blips, AN threads, USA would never cross my mind. On FB, someone just posted '9-11 Never Forget' ,,, I forgot long time ago. Along with Christian holiday, govt holidays (Labor, Veterans, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving ... etc). They all pass me by until someone mentions it. I know when the Thai holidays are, as know not to plan an O&A during that time ???? Only thing reminds me that I'm a Yank, is COLA, SS DD, and visa extension. Usually think about the USA, when bill comes for nice meal, or I see a doc, and realize the savings living here.

Suicide rate in Thailand hits half-decade peak despite prevention efforts
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Where's the surprise, and just a side effect of lock downs IMHO Loss incomes, and read finances a big part of divorces. Couple loss finances with broken relationship. Dim future prospects, and people off themselves. ... surprised ???? -
I wonder how much grid energy EV owners are saving the country. ... no electric to pump oil out of tankers, if needed ... or manage the natural gas used in TH ... or energy used to refine oil to petrol ... none to pump into delivery trucks ... none to pump fuel into the delivery trucks ... save pumping fuel into ICEV since have EV Not the EV owners fault alternative sources of energy isn't used. 50 yrs ongoing, since 1973 'oil shortage' ... ???? As with all things in life, planning is everything. I planned my savings, with solar & now an EV UP2U of course, plan the same, or keep giving your baht to big oil & PEA/MEA

And yet this EV lover is having (fake) Wagyu burgers for lunch today, go figure. Already posted snap of that sausage pizza & chicken Massaman, eaten recently. We all don't eat like rabbits. I'd go hug a tree, but the damn ants here, I'll gve that a pass. I'm sure you never eat a salad, Buddha forbid, your testosterone level might drop.

EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Rare, but apparently happens. Beating the NEDC (Not Even Damn Close) range rating for our EV of 403 kms. Strange, as I drove a bit faster than usual, due to impending rain, and wanted to get to surf sooner. Besides some A-hole tailgating me over the RR overpass. Hit 74 kph, which made me think and look at the gauge. Actually thought I misread it. Short trip involved 2 quick red lights, and a U-turn, longer than the 2 traffic lights, so idle for about 1 min of the 8. So average speed actually a bit higher than NEDC's test speed of 37 kph. 11.3 kms per 100 kms equates to 409 kms per full charge???? -
Biden saved from embarrassment, well, more if continued
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
reading a teleprompter, a prepared speech, or answering approved questions ... any trained puppet / idiot can do that. It's when he goes off script, and has to think for himself, then obvious he can not put thoughts or sentences together. "Biden took a number of scheduled questions from the press while on a visit to the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi, before telling reporters that he was “going to bed.” However, Biden kept answering additional questions" .... oops How many times can you defend him ? -
So which is, tourist & business growth ... or blame the EVs ???? "Power consumption this year has been estimated at 201,913 gigawatt hours (GWh), up about 2.4% year on year, reflecting economic expansion, estimated at 2.5-3% for the whole year, mainly due to tourism recovery, investment and private consumption expansion." Instead of pointing the finger at EVs, how about developing, promoting solar to every rooftop, and feeding the grid with the excess. Simple solutions to simple problems
