  1. And the topic is "BEVs in TH", not the UK, not the UK CS infrastructure, not the cost of electric in the UK. Your very first post showed your lack of research, as imported BEV, can cost the same or less, than imported / same class of sedan Japanese ICEs. With or without govt incentive. That MG EP Plus, is a lot of bang for the baht. As I pointed out. No years to get ROI as you stated. Buy in is not more expensive. From there, you went downhill, as pointed out by myself and another poster. Obviously a BEV is not for you. Fits perfect in our lifestyle. Better than any ICE that I've owned, except for the ICE version as our ZS, which we also loved. But since having more solar than we need at the house, a BEV was a no brainer.
  2. Those long drives are over. I've actually done Udon Thani to Phuket, no overnight. When the roads weren't so congested, and no speed cameras. Then the 'legs' got shorter & shorter, 1 stop, 2 stops, 3 stops ???? Then it took a week or 3 to get there, playing tourist all the way, staying the weekend, then returning a different route. Now when out & about, where we top up is where we overnight, and explore that area, which ever comes first, hotel or CS. No hurry to go anywhere. In the past, like our car with us vs 3 plane fares, then renting. Refuse to support the taxi mafia, and don't stay stationary when on Phuket. Use to rent a scooter when there, for getting around, due to no parking, and remove the risk of an oops with the car out of home province. Now a car is mandatory, as I wouldn't put a dog on a plane in TH. Plus again, we want our car for convenience. I never plan anything, so can't buy in advance, and simply go on a whim. No airport near us anyway.
  3. A lot ... i get bored easily ???? But agree 100% with the rest of you post ????
  4. Be done to death ... the CS infrastructure here is excellent. More than enough on the way to Phuket. Why do you care, since not owning an EV. Do you even live in TH, since all your references are about the failings of EV use in the UK. Yes, entry level Neta has a smaller than most popular EV battery, something to consider if using over the road. MGs will get 300+ kms without charging. I usually top up at 260 kms, with a reserve of 100 kms, as that's 3-4 hrs on Thai roads, and wife, dog & myself welcome the break. If you want to drive 10 hrs straight @ 120 kph, then again, the EV isn't for you. If I go to Phuket, I need to top up once, and it's a welcome break. If I go to Krung Thep to see my daughter, I don't even need to top up, but we do, just out of town, same as when driving and ICE, as it's a welcome break, and no need to bother once at Krung Thep.
  5. Did not read previous post, but anyone interested in 'quality' multi vitamins, the Kirkland brand has been tested, by folks that do that sort of thing, and found their labeling to be honest. You get what you pay for. I buy mine & Vit C, from LAZ, and simply a 'supplement' to my lack of proper healthier fruit & veggy consumption. Peace of mind, that I'm getting the proper nutrients, and seems to keep my immune system working just fine, as I simply don't get sick. May or may not be a waste of money, but such a small amount ... ... I don't care.
  6. If you read my post, the ZS will be our last car, and love it, so no need to sell. Even without the govt incentive, the MG EP Plus is a far better value than others. Thankfully, have more money than we need and did all the investing before retiring @ 45 yrs old, so the solar system is just another toy for us. What if scenarios .. that's your argument now. OK, let's work with that. What do you plan on doing if the grid crashes ? Every been to a petrol station or even a 7-11 when power goes ... full stop usually. We have solar, EVs, food producing garden, live walking distance to the surf (fish), store rain water, and know how to desalinize seawater, actually quite easy. Have a nice day.
  7. I only buy from LAZ/Panasonic Flagship store: https://www.lazada.co.th/panasonic-battery/?q=All-Products&from=wangpu&langFlag=en&pageTypeId=2
  8. OK, if you want, then make comparisons with Japanese imports, to the MG EP Plus @ ฿771k. Good luck finding a Japanese import sedan in that price range. Then add the yearly operating & maintenance cost to that price tag. Corolla ฿879k and up Cross ฿999k and up (MG ZS EV ฿949K) Camry ฿1.475k and up Mazda 3 ฿969 and up
  9. Use Gmap/satellite and simply follow the lines out that interest you.
  10. Obviously more expensive in CH, and completely irrelevant to TH. Entry level EVs (in TH) Neta V ฿549k Vios ฿609k ... discontinued in TH Varis ฿559 - ฿694k Mazda 2 ฿546,000 - ฿799k MG EP ฿771k There are less expensive (฿369k) but not very well spec'd. Operating & maintenance cost make EV a better value. IMHO Again, EVs aren't for everyone, chose what is appropriate for you. You have choices.
  11. Yea ... car manufacturer definitely take advantage of pricing here. Remember buying our Vios @ ~$20k USD at the time. Same car in USA was $14k USD. Strangely, 'with gov't incentives', the MG ZS EV isn't that much more here vs CH. 174,060 Chinese Yuan = 852,928.14 THB, and sells for 949,000 THB here. The MG ZS ICE version is 2X the price here vs CH ???? 78,000 CNY = 382.458 THB Seems state owned businesses in CH, don't price gouge the citizens of CH ????
  12. If driving that many kms every day, you're going to need to charge up via the grid, or your solar system is really going to be expensive.
  13. Have to admire a politician who concentrates on performance, instead of image. Whatever works, and makes him more comfortable in his recovery. At least he shows up to work ... ????
  14. That's one opinion, apparently not shared by many who prefer to live in TH and other countries. A country that can't feed itself, is not 'miles ahead' ... ... "The UK imports around 46 percent of the total food it consumes and is reliant on both imports and its agricultural sector to feed its population" https://www.trade.gov/country-commercial-guides/united-kingdom-agricultural-sectors#:~:text=The UK imports around 46,importer%2C especially of fresh produce. "Food imports (% of merchandise imports) in Thailand was reported at 6.7453 % in 2021" https://tradingeconomics.com/thailand/food-imports-percent-of-merchandise-imports-wb-data.html#:~:text=Food imports (% of merchandise imports) in Thailand was reported, compiled from officially recognized sources.
  15. Mine was hitting $4000 a year, 25 yrs ago = ฿10k+ a month. Last townhouse rental here was ฿6000, a couple houses down, same, was ฿3500, but didn't allow dogs. Last single house was ฿5000, I think, and both within the last 5 ish yrs.
  16. So is that what is left of the area (Donbass city of Artyomovsk), after UA has had the offensive against the area since around 2014 ? NYT ... ???? Don't think anyone needs to wonder why RU annexed the area to try to protect their citizens that didn't recognize the regime change, and wanted nothing to do with UA. 9 yrs of being attacked will do that to a city. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Only difference is who's spinning the story.
  17. Not sure how you got that impression, but no. Only experience is with MG ZS EV (2022), and actually the ICE version prior.
  18. I can only speak for the MG ZS, and TBH, haven't a clue, as the AC is never off. But I do exceed the WLTP rating of 320 kms by about 10%, and average 360 kms at speeds (90 kph) on the highway, almost double the test speed of 47 kph, w/AC on. That does take away completely from the credibility of the review. Can't say I've researched it much, as Neta V wouldn't interest me, But those on the forum that test drove it, were only critical of the ride & suspension, and to be expected for the price point of entry level cars. Not much different than the entry level ICEs I've owned, and wouldn't bother with again. Neta V does offer a price point, for those on a budget, or simply want a knock around town car. Comes in cheaper than many entry level Japanese entry level cars made TH; Vios, Varis, Mazda2 for example, 2 of which I've owned, and wouldn't buy again.
  19. Final opinion, last statement of the review above: "But when compared to the selling price of only 549,000 baht, I believe that NETA V can provide better value for money than a combustion vehicle in the same price range."
  20. EV vs ICE buy in is now the same, no extra cost in TH. Solar of course is a wide variable, but I expect ROI in 5 to 10 yrs, and probably mid or short side of that. I expect the car to be our last, and easy get 20 yrs out of it, unless an oops, which I'm not foreseeing. With many more kms to go after that, if the rest of the car holds up beyond the motors & battery pack. If not, battery pack gets moved to the solar system, and she'll figure something out for the motors, or simply go to 2nd hand market.
  21. I feel you ... ... I have to lean my Schwinn Streamliner way to the side to mount. Due to hip and back mobility or lock of. Also converted it to ebike.
  22. Agree and will also keep the ratio of EV / CS in the EV's favor, when out & about. win win Along with a good chuckle, reading some of their silliness.
