Is your ol' hometown RUINED? (Also: Nudism survey)

The Barnes Foundation, being one of the best private art collections in the world. Philly Art Museum was Ok also. For a little city, it packed a lot in. -
Is your ol' hometown RUINED? (Also: Nudism survey)

I thought it was a great city, with great neighborhoods, with a couple exceptions. One of best food towns, entertainment & sports town. Just big enough, with easy access from where I grew up, walk a mere 0.2 miles away, and I could get to anywhere in the world (after the airport line was put in) 20 minute train ride to/from 'downtown' That's a bit rich for Jerseyites considering Trenton, Camden & Newark ???? Princeton & Lambertville were pretty cool, as I spent a lot of time there. Lived in Hightstown, when I worked at Newark airport. Philly, a steady downhill slide since 2008. -
I have a couple crowns (w/root canals) that are 30 yrs old. Implant option will always be there, if needed.
-
Root canal, would be my choice, keep my teeth. Why take a fixable tooth out ? Along with (root canal & crown) at least half the cost of an implant. If you don't need the crown, even better.

Thais, Yanks, Arabs, Indians, Chinese, Russians ... do AN members like any other nationality or race beside their own; UK or AU vocal members dominating AN. Really getting hard reading AN of late.

I would think a lot of businesses that didn't own their building, simply had to close due to no customers to cover overhead. Especially those tourist driven that the locals really didn't support. Pretty much county wide. We were O&A quite a bit during 2020 & early 2021 and it was dismal, w/90% or more shuttered early on, though a couple ol' favorites were doing a brisk business, as never targeted the tourist industry, even on Phuket, surfside. Coastal Phuket & Krabi were ghost towns, except a couple surfside restaurants @ Kamala & Kata. Really strange seeing 7-11s, and USA fast food chains closed in tourist areas. When inland a bit, all was normal, sort of.

EV sales in Thailand to hit 50,000 despite auto loan regulations
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As soon as it dips below 90%, we usually plug in, since using solar, especially during rainy season. Non rainy season, we'll let it go do to 70% ish, as knowing plenty of sunshine. With solar, you charge when you can, not when needed ???? Amazing how much solar produces, even when overcast. On our system anyway, 8kW inverter. 3 or 5kW inverter might not have as much excess, and better planning needed. If using grid, then irrelevant. Can do overnight. Charging at home is slow, so better for the battery, as doesn't heat up while charging. Even when we go O&A, we'll leave 100%, and return @ 20%, so that's about 500kms at slow charge. So about 25-35% of our O&A charging. Better for battery health. -
No, but they would be taken to the hospital, especially if they were covering the cost. Fake a heart attack, they have to/should take you to hospital, and even a ward bed would be better the a packed cell, not that Thaksin was in one. At his age, not much of a stretch that health issue will pop up the next 8 yrs (or 1st day ????), and should be tended to. No different worldwide. PA, USA has a federal prison the isn't even completely fenced in, and small cyclone/wire fence at that, in some parts. Many prison have 'elite' cells, why are people surprised or outraged. Tell your govt rep, stop crying.

EV sales in Thailand to hit 50,000 despite auto loan regulations
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Ours, LFP chemistry, so they don't mind, and most are now LFP batteries being used, both lighter & cheaper for manufacturer, more cycles and rare fire risk for customer. If a rare fire, less toxic fumes, just try to avoid being BBQ'd ???? 85%-100% charges a bit slower, and why they always quote 30-80% ... as fast (30 ish minutes) & simple marketing. If we're done what ever, and depending how far going, we'll stop charging @ 85% or more, though rare and leave, or if someone pulls in and the other machine/cable isn't available and we're at or near 90% -
EV sales in Thailand to hit 50,000 despite auto loan regulations

ICEV users have not problem waiting weelking to fill their tanks, but can't when on the road. 10 weeks X 10 mins, but can spare 30 minutes to be able to drive a couple more hours. A welcome break for me after 3 hrs No I don't, not required, and if solar, not overnight. My opinion differs obviously, as quite enjoy the added performance & savings. Fit perfectly in our lifestyle, and actually kms wise, 50-60% local, 40-50% O&A with the car, since everything is close to home, and E-MB is used a lot. Now the ZS has 15k+ kms on it, and 5k of those are O&A, with 2 more O&As planned within the 1st yr /~20k kms of ownership hits. So may actually hit 50% of kms O&A. Scooter does about 2-3k kms a year, all local. -
EV sales in Thailand to hit 50,000 despite auto loan regulations

Don't know how you read all that into it, and most non diesel ICEVs don't give you more than 600 km range. And yet to get in/out of any petrol station is less than 10 minutes, when use ICEVs. Along with paying 2.5X the amount to 'top up' on the road, and almost 5X the amount charging at home if not having solar. Simple - EVs simply are not for people who can't charge at home, and are too impatient to charge on the road. All the rest you assume is inaccurate BS. -
Is your ol' hometown RUINED? (Also: Nudism survey)
KhunLA replied to LaosLover's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
To the title, hometown ruined - no, and quite the opposite. Gentrified, for a suburban town, although, that comes with higher taxes & govt telling you how to live. Must cut grass, what, when & how you live .... NO THANKS To the big Dem run city, Philly, PA, USA, it is a suburb or, that I loved to visit, weekly, is now over run w/homeless & crime is rampant. Or so I read & brothers tells me. Nobody bothers going into any more. -
Thailand just chose a prime minister. He’s not the one people voted for
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As already pointed out probably, since not reading posts. People don't elect PM, the representative they voted for present 'valid' candidates to be chosen. Seems the system is working just fine. -
Not going to say it doesn't happen, but, if not for the history of tourist ending up in the hospital, they wouldn't be doing spot checks (too many) to make sure they are legal and qualified (licensed) to drive. And yes, that should be sorted at the rental places, but until it is, I'm all for the check points, even if targeting foreigners. It may, will save lives, if just 1 person realizes, renting is not a good idea if not legal to. One less 'go fund my stupidity' is always a good thing. I less idiot hitting my car ???? On the flip side, irrelevant, but, when, very rare, there is a local check point, and they are stopping ALL MBs, helmet or not, I seem to always get waved through ???? I am legal w/helmet, dog - no helmet.

Could have left out the N of Richmond part, as either ignorant and needs to get out more, or still fighting the Civil War. Strangely, after working in the South, many are in that mind set. Personally I prefer Lennon's 'Working Class Hero'. I can relate and that type of song is timeless, until YOU, actually do something, to improve your life, instead of crying about it. Oliver Anthony, "Rich Men of Richmond" Lyrics: I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day Overtime hours for bull<deleted> pay So I can sit out here and waste my life away Drag back home and drown my troubles away. Pre-Chorus: It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to For people like me and people like you Wish I could just wake up and it not be true But it is, oh, it is. Chorus: Livin' in the new world With an old soul These rich men north of Richmond Lord knows they all just wanna have total control Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do And they don't think you know, but I know that you do 'Cause your dollar ain't <deleted> and it's taxed to no end 'Cause of rich men north of Richmond. I wish politicians would look out for miners And not just minors on an island somewhere Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't got nothin' to eat And the obese milkin' welfare. Well, God, if you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds Young men are puttin' themselves six feet in the ground 'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin' them down. source

Bit of a rip from Goodfellas with the narration. Fails miserably in that aspect, along with not much suspense and too predictable. If you ran out of things to watch, as I did, maybe OK for a time killer, but not much else. 5.6 is a bit generous. I actually watched Star Trek 2009/2013, last night & tonight, 3rd/4th time, again, and still entertaining. Though have watch either in years. Third one/2016 didn't do much for me, so passing on re-watching that. Looking forward to new one, next year. Yea, completely out of things to watch, and only 4 series are out now that I watch.

How often & how long are your outages. YT'er Prof Hobo does reviews of more power than you should need, actually solar/electric generators. Of all sizes, and here one that would be overkill. But at 6:55/58 or vid, he shows a chart of how long some standard appliance would last. Many folks use these for camping, vanning & weekend trips where electric might not be available. As I said, overkill, but they do come in different sizes & price points. Just the first Ecoflow I noticed, and they offer smaller units. https://shopee.co.th/ecoflow_thailand_distributor Review of cheapest one on that site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lyb774YnIy0&ab_channel=HOBOTECH I don't think the standard desktop UPC last very long, and longevity has been very poor with the couple I've had. With replacement batteries here, being total crap.

EV sales in Thailand to hit 50,000 despite auto loan regulations
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There's only 12 cities, with 100k+ population here/TH. Anything smaller, and people will be charging at home, and unless on a major road, most will be passing through, as not exactly a tourist town. After 100k, the numbers drop quick. 20 cities later and <50k. Not many large cities for having 76 province, and a couple of the larger ones, are part of Krung Thep metro area. cities by population Between Hua Hin and Chumphon, we have plenty, for now and that's along a major interprovince highway. Nobody is going too far E or W of the highway here, so nothing really needed, except weekends maybe, along the hwy (#4) itself. We don't even have 30k for our town, <100k for Amphur and whole province <600k, which includes Hua Hin. They could definitely use a few more along the coastlines, for those taking the scenic route, and far E border (river), or W along Myanmar, Umphang, Tak & above. Most tourist will come off the main highways, tour about then end up back on the highways without the need to charge up. Plenty of highways crisscrossing N/S & E/W. We went to these points, since having the EV, in the past 10 months, and never a problem. PKK province is long and thin, as you can see by the congested red dots, almost a line, of our 'local O&As', that don't need a CS. Living mid province we can hit top & bottom of, without need to charge, till we return home. -

Whoa ... that's a lot of people still missing, 850. Saw one news-blip, mirrors the one in OP. 114 lost souls & 850 not accounted for. Here's a snap of another (6 days old), put the loss in perspective (1300 down to 850, better): source -

Twice I didn't think I was going to make it through the night, and amazingly, I was quite content with that. Glad I did wake up next day, and appreciate everyday, maybe a bit more, not sure, as always appreciated waking up. I hate times like now, as can't really go O&A, as planned a Southern loop. Now delayed, due to having some dental work being done, and need to be closer to home, next few weeks. Might take some 'local' outings.
