  1. "You can wear anything that looks to build confidence for yourself" So ... is it a swimsuit contest or a race ... and 3 whole kms ... just bouncing or swinging along, depending on gender ???? Yea I know, 3 kms in sand, is probably like 5 to 10 on the track. And here I came to TH for the temples, and non flamboyant Buddhist life.
  2. The 'statin' will help control the lipids, especially since liver isn't exactly know for producing good cholesterol. Until my diet does that, get a good balance of better HDLs vs LDLs, the statin will help, and hopefully I'll ween myself off all the meds prescribed.
  3. Thankfully weight is not a problem, though I did lose a couple kgs in those 6 ish weeks. Intermittent fasting has helped me maintain a decent weight. Only fluctuates a couple kgs through out the year. Get my daily walks in with the dog, nothing too long or strenuous though, so will start using the pedal bike more often.
  4. Got to take all with a grain of salt ... although ... I wouldn't call CR a rag, since a subscriber based magazine/site, company, doing consumer product testing & review from yearly subscriber surveys. Gives CR quite a bit more credibility over advertiser funded rags & sites. I was a subscriber for many years in the USA, and based my many, most expensive purchases from their recommendations, and all very accurate.
  5. Easily agree with that, especially depending on the 'cut', which for me, beef was usually the worst, ground beef/burgers (80/20). Rare to eat a beef steak, more than couple times a month, as good ones, hard to find, or pricey. Not so much the steak, the meat being unhealthy, but any sauce & butter I cooked it in. Especially a sauce, as usually half/half and or butter in that ???? Though not really a sauce person with beef steak, but will finish off the final charring with butter. Along with the taters & veggies topped with butter ???? Probably just cutting out, whole milk, butter and pastries would give me a few more years.
  6. From link: "A neighbour, Mrs Suk, told them that at 8 a.m. this morning she saw Porn’s husband sitting next to his wife trying to wake her up."
  7. Good to know, as I was prescribe both of those ... THANKS Only been 6 weeks since. Also adjusted my diet considerably ... mainly red meat & pastries. Freakin' skim milk vs whole ... Holy Buddha, but do need for my morning cereal, which is still Nestle' corn flakes & raisins, now with oats, almonds & blueberries added, as all suppose to be good options. Only use for milk now, 1 bowl, instead of liter a day. Tried soy milk ... no thanks, I'll die first, just vile stuff. Couldn't taste anything in the bowl except the blueberries, barely. Other dairy, cut out cheddar & American cheese, and going easy on the parm & mozzarella. Lots more greens also, and more salmon than usual. More olive & peanut oil, less to almost no butter. Actually hasn't been that bad of an adjustment, very surprisingly. Still do 2 scoops of Swensen's Tuesday, and 1 treat/pastry a few days later. Down from 1 a day. Frozen fruit, blueberries mixed with yoghurt for another sweet tooth moment. More chicken & eggs for protein source. Easy on the crustaceans. Less pork and leaner cuts. No processed foods, though very few anyway prior. Didn't adjust my Dark Chocolate intake, that much anyway. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/13-foods-that-lower-cholesterol-levels#TOC_TITLE_HDR_15
  8. Also consider CR is a USA based mag, and the Tesla being sold here, will be coming out of CH, not the USA or EU. Where I suspect most of the CR / Tesla customers based. Don't just read the headline, other tidbits from that link: "Tesla scored a reliability score of 40/100, while electric vehicles overall scored 36/100. It isn’t all bad news for Tesla; its score matches the average for domestic automakers, the company was able to improve its ranking by four places compared to last year" Also, and why I'm not a big fan of extra options, especially electronics, as most complaints from customers are about the 'extras' not the drivetrains. So yea, if I paid 40-50k for a car, I'd be frustrated also when sh!t didn't work. "At the same time, as Tesla attempts to offer the bleeding edge of software innovation, they undoubtedly encounter more software issues than have been typically seen in the automotive space. And while these problems are typically fixed through updates and technical support quickly, they could easily contribute to Tesla’s poor performance." "Consumer Reports’ results lead to one central question, what influenced Tesla (and electric vehicles generally) in scoring so low compared to the competition? This question becomes especially confounding when the prevailing narrative is that “electric vehicles are generally more reliable than their gas counterparts.” "
  9. Agree, if going to sensationalize the story, go with the human interest side of it, and how can family & society neglect the elderly and allow these conditions to contribute to their death. IF in fact, it even did. I'll await the autopsy, which will never be reported. Nobody will click on that story.
  10. A pleasant bowl of antifreeze would have solved that neighborhoods problems. R I P
  11. Thanks, but I'm well aware of 'hypothermia' ... but 'freezing' ... don't think so. Why most folks die when lost at sea, due to 'exposure' as water temp will take you down to and past body core temp. Freezing is 0° .. not 13° Very few healthy people would 'freeze to death', exposed to 13° for even 12 ish hours. News outlets should 'report' the news, not 'sensationalize' it. Would defeat 'click bait' marketing though .... it's all about the money. For all we know, she may have passed away 1500 hrs in the afternoon sun while taking a nap, for simple heart failure. Simply discovered the next morning. 'legs frozen' ... reads a bit more like rigamortis already set in.
  12. Way too young, 68, as almost 1 yr older than myself. Born early 1954, me late 1954, R I P
  13. I would hope we're all adults by this point in time. Maybe 0-60 mph impresses teenagers, but if I can not spend a half million baht extra by taking 9 seconds to get to 100 kph, instead of less the 4 seconds, which I don't need to do or be at ... then I'm pretty damn happy about that. That extra half million baht could pay for say ... a solar system larger than we need, and an electric scooter to play with when it's not rainy ... hmm. Then that would be like free electric for house & EV, with never needing to use PEA ... ... you kids play with fast cars, I'll spend the extra pocket money we have doing other things we enjoy ???? Economics 101 .... finance yourself to the grave, or retire early
  14. Until there is more competition in the market, like CH's EV market, there's no need for Tesla to lower the market price in TH. Taking more orders than any other proves that. Many, like myself, may be happy with the fact that their car is coming from CH, instead of 'made in TH'. Quite happy MG hadn't produced their EVs here yet. Having 2 Toyota and 1 Mazda here, that were made in TH, compared to the vehicles that come out of Japan ... yea ... very happy our ZS is made in CH. Have to say though, the ICE version and EV version of the ZS, are quite compatible. Maybe MG has better handle on their QC here, than others. EV a bit nicer, slightly, but could simply be 2 yrs of upgrade, and better components needed for the EV, and explains the price difference besides simply being an EV. One has to consider, that 1 battery pack on our solar system cost about ฿100k, and the MG ZS EV comes with one, 5X the kW, 50kW vs 10kW. Original pricing of ICE vs EV ฿700k vs ฿1.2m, and may help some understand WHY, EVs are priced higher.
  15. Toyota ... having a problem simply keeping the wheels on their EVs. Subaru should have picked SAIC to make their EVs.
  16. Until everyone has running water & electric, TH will always be a 3rd world country in my eyes. 3rd world with many modern things, best describes TH.
  17. Yes, thread title, as most are, is silly. Freezes ... NO. But as article states, exposure could definitely have been a 'contributing' factor, or not, depending on the 'young' lady's health.
  18. Staying at hotels and visiting restaurants owned by Thais. Regulations, and building codes written & enforced, of not, by Thais.
  19. Never hurts to peek, as I was surprised ours stocked as much as it did, since not really a tourist town or very populated. Maybe Makro is doing a tester this year at all branches.
  20. What tourist beach doesn't have black (sewer) water going into the sea from the khlongs ? TIT So much so the sand is usually stained almost year round.

  22. I would be surprise, as not nearly enough foreigners, or Thai beer enthusiast there for that. Be a lot of stale beer after 6 months. I've only seen a decent selection in Hua Hin, and suspect a lot of that has expired on the self. Actually impressive amount at the Gourmet Market @ Bluport ... if ever in the area and want to sample more than a few. Our local Makro added a bunch of craft beers, but suspect they'll disappear with the expiration dates. I can't see locals spending 100+ baht for small beers.
  23. My mama would kick my butt if I financed something that depreciated ???? "The percentage you're paying is too high pricedWhile you're living beyond all your meansAnd the man in the suit has just bought a new carFrom the profit he's made on your dreams" --- Winwood & Capaldi
  24. Phom jon mak mak ... ???? Rich basstards ... we can only afford that cheap Chinese junk ... ???? I need a 'safe space' ... away from all this intimidations ... ????
  25. That's cool ... ???? I get his frustration, but manufacturers, especially targeting us low end buyers, are trying to keep cost down as much as possible. If it's one more add on, option, accessory that can have an oops down the line, then I'm happy for the hassle of plugging in ????
