  1. Why would someone live in a country, when they can't seem to tolerate the weather ? Especially as a expat. Options abound ... 200+ countries/sovereign states. I wouldn't live here if weather bothered me. Avoided many areas to retire, because of the weather. Whether half the year, or even sporadically extreme at times; FL / Caribbean ... hurricane season Lower SW-mid USA ... tornado alley Canada & upper USA ... brutal winters
  2. I'm actually quite surprised how little electric we've used so far, in the new house. Obvious the build, far superior than townhouse (non end unit) we were renting. Used 6-700kW there, w/ 1 sm AC unit. Averaging 500kW here a month, sitting in the open, no natural shading of the roof. Once the 4 units; 2 frigs & 2 ACs (13 & 24BTUs) are up and running, they seem to draw very little. Frigs are nothing special, medium size. ACs are newer inverters. VID_20221201_102550.mp4
  3. here's my specs, on ASUS (25k should do it), and more than most people would need, unless a gamer. Non integrated graphic card w/2 gb Only need the extra specs for editing photos, and makes huge difference over previous laptop. Don't edit video, aside from trim/split. WIN10 is fine, and I actually don't want 11.
  4. Air 'conditioner' ... not so much for temp, but to lower the RH from daily 60-80%, if not 100%, 'dehumidifying' down to a comfy 40-50-60%. Temps are usually no problem, and I can take 35° up to 40° outside, if in the shade with a breeze. RH can be a bit much though. Weather temp, once at body temp/37°, you won't cool off with the breeze as much. Last 5 yrs living in Memphis area, TN, USA, 38-40° for a month, was not rare, and I worked outside. Easily 6 months of 35+° those last 5 yrs. Bit different from 4 seasons at Philly, PA, USA, both mild summers & winters, relative to other extremes of the USA temps. I keep the house between 27-29, most days & night
  5. I'll take a bit of rain over smog every day. Lovely green also, instead of dusty brown. Weather (if climate change) ... LOVIN' IT Long may it last ????
  6. TWL ... very nice 'gulf' beach when surf is cooperating. 2nd behind Ban Krut, which would also be good for kiteboarding, though never noticed 'rentals', also, never looked for.
  7. @OneMoreFarang Don't know if anyone suggested this site, for PC, didn't try phone. ... NO SIGN UP/REGISTRATIO/EMAIL necessary Click on Sherwin William (2nd link) on this site. I can't post link, since already put photo there, as won't let me out to start over. As long as you don't 'save', it doesn't ask for registration. https://www.architecturelab.net/house-paint-visualizer/ Can simply 'undo' then add another color for another view. 8. Hope never to find out. This is definitely, hopefully, my last car purchase, and if all goes as planned, should be my wife's last car. If the rest of the car last as long as expect the motors & battery to last. The Govt incentive of 240ish k makes up for any possible 25% drive off the lot depreciation for the EV. Anyone thinking of buying an EV ... DO IT before those incentives expire. As 2nd hand EV prices will be a big question mark, depending how the market & tech goes. Maybe even, good, or bad.
  9. Yes, hence the unplanned hop up to Hua Hin. 2nd hand/ tent folks offered 350k initially, then 370k, then bidding amongst them, to 390฿. Wasn't selling for <400k. Keep it just for spite, besides, looked good in the carport, next to the EV ???? Wife had it listed for 439k, I posted on forums for 450k then 400k, as quick sale, buyer's market, low local population market. Along with postings on FB Marketplace from 350k & up to silly prices. So HH guy offered 400k to wife's listing. ฿฿฿฿ looks better in the bank than car in the carport. Happy with the price, considering, but not thrilled with the depreciation of the car, over 2yrs. Paid ฿695k, so a ฿300k hit. Guess the ฿11k appreciation of the ZS EV offsets that, when driven off the lot ???? ฿949, now worth ฿960 if totaled ????
  10. Not where I am ... if this 'Climate Change' ... I'm loving it. Longer raining season, everything greener for longer, fresher air/less smog ... oh yea, loving it.
  11. Quite the opposite, helps you tolerate Aholes. Better yet, deep thought provoking to avoid said Aholes. If not possible, turn it up ...
  12. Took a short O&A, mixed driving, very mixed driving. Last leg, HH to PKK would be what's expected on highway. So final range & cost, would be better, putting around town. PKK - HH - Kanchanaburi - Krung Thep - HH - PKK Kudos to the MG ZS, providing amazingly accurate info. Except for that kms/kW, rating in ODO graph, not sure what orifice that number is coming out of, or I'm misinterpreting it. Consistently getting better than the WLTP & NEDC range ratings. Considering their ratings are done @ 47 & 37 kph, not 60 & 90 kph. Photos are self explanatory (long winded below): Spur of the moment trip (no planning), so no sign up & registration on EV Charging Apps, aside from MG's. Not a problem at all, and CS were conveniently located along the trip, with little to no back tracking. One, the only one CS, that we didn't call ahead, oops, was out of service (storm zapped), next one was only 17 kms away, and on the route we were taking anyway. Simply reassured my thoughts of calling ahead was a good idea. I charged up more than often, since first O&A, as didn't want to be 'that' guy, making the news plugged into a generator. Actually the breaks were welcome. AND ... free coffee & sugar treats at MG cust. waiting room ???? along with very clean toilet & WIFI, IF wanting/needing, THANK YOU. So, calling ahead on the road, is a good idea, make sure it's a fast charger (MG Super) or it's in operating order. While on the road, wife registered for EAanywhere, which requires a CC, she does not possess. Evolt, registered, but didn't get pass the 'payment' part, and I believe, can pay through topped up app, or topped up card, if having. Work in progress, kind of liking the card option, as MG uses that. EVs ARE NOT FOR IMPATIENT PEOPLE: ... driving 100+ kph, range factor ... 5 hrs driving/petrol/5hrs driving, 30min-45min CS stop2, ever so often will not be for you. All CS are not equal: ... tester @ MG/PKK fast ... MG / Hua Hin, seemed slower (1st top up), as simply being there, not needed, only 110 kms driven. ... MG / Kanchanaburi, whoa, that was fast ... MG / Krung Thep, 1 fast, 1 no op/not fast ... MG / Hua Hin again, wife notices, cable not as thick as the other CS, and probably explaining slower charge up. 1 negative, sort of a 'fine print' item, in marketing. Notice MG Promo states 30%-80% charge in ~30 mins. Very accurate, if not faster. IF going 80-100%, that takes a bit longer, as guessing some balancing of cells going on. Kind of a wash, wait a bit longer for the 20%, or stop again, a bit sooner for multiple 50% top ups. Usual O&A for us, would be 1 leg, hotel, charge/eat, next day if on the road or exploring ... repeat. This trip was not that, 2 very long days, as needed to be in HH, wanted to be at Krung Thep, changed plan, then wanted to be at Kanchanburi, though got there later than wanting. Our fault, or could have changed that for more relaxed ride. Then needed/wanted to be at Krung Thep before a certain hour, and possible, so did that pit stop. Again, changed mind about staying (why we don't book in advance), so planned another stop. Screw it, changed mind again, headed home, so did turn it to 2 long days. Don't know how or why, people want to do that on holiday. Easy for us, as been there, done that, more than a few times, and it was a last minute thing to begin with. Very nice though, and aside from in the car too much, THANKS MG for the comfy ride, a pleasant outing. Got to take time to smell the coffee: Love a sunrise, even a misty morning one:

  14. Well, it's a buyer's market now and 2027 .... ? 2017 some folks were probably saying buy buy buy, and in 5 years you'll make a lot of money ... ... Five years later, 2022, and it's a buyer's market, oops
  15. Expats, retirees wanting to wear MJ leaves on their shirt, seriously. And I'm the one living in the past ... how old are you ? LOS ... scams. Advertise if you want, smarter not to...IMO
