  1. SD cards are quite cheap, but if 'too good to be true' ... nuff said Order from manufacturer's site, or 'flagship store' on LAZ/Shopee I'm a SanDisk fan, and last one order was inexpensive, and registered on their warranty site. Want it now, go to 'Advice Dist.' for about the same price, and again, warranty registration done. Better Research = Better Shopping Experience
  2. Food for thought ... IF considering an EV, in the future, do buy before gov't incentives are gone. Not only did we save ฿240k when buying, but gained ฿240k in value, IF selling in the future. Insured value of MG ZS EV if totaled is ฿960k. Priced we paid for MG ZS EV ฿11K less @ ฿949k ???? Makes up for and then some, selling the ICE version of only 2 yrs old. Only worse depreciation value would be sell an ICE at 1 yr old, or right after driving off the dealer lot.
  3. Another 'what if' scenario ... ... guessing what some say they'd do on the forum, might not be the reality when a bag of money is staring at them ... ????
  4. Something wrong with Makro, or do you just enjoy paying more for the same product ?
  5. 500 - 1000 baht is a heavy fine for a local. More than a day or two wages. 3 days if on that bottom rung of the ladder. Just as 1, 2 or $300 USD, would be to me in FarangLand. It's not the amount, it's how many hours of work it takes to pay the fine, that the relative cost of anything. Apply that across the board, and Thailand is a very expensive country for locals to live in. Helmet fine cost over a day's wage. Whole Five Star chicken cost almost a half a day's wage. For myself, my last job, 23 yrs ago, that would be an $90 USD chicken ???? ???? Let that sink in ... take as long as you need.
  6. Legal protesting is fine. Blocking any infrastructure and endangering lives, even their own, is not. As much as I agree with the ideology, they lose all credibility with me. Guessing most are still driving fossil fuel vehicles and heating, cooling their homes from fossil fuels. Most talk 'saving the planet', but most also don't actually do anything, except talk. Hypocrites indeed.
  7. Get a real one that mounts on the floor, or move the wee one downstairs. The free standing ones are krap and inefficient by design. Don't waste your money. Better to put a bucket of ice in front of a fan. https://www.uni-aire.com/en/product/model-ufv-floor-mount-ceiling-mount/
  8. To the OP, it seems to be at the discretion who is collecting the fee at the gate. When I first got here, I was never charged, or the Thai fee, if charged. Rarely saw the gates attended, 20+ yrs ago. Then things seemed to change, and more strict, though I'd never pay the farang fee, which would usually turn into the Thai fee, again, if any. TBH, most parks aren't even worth that, the Thai fee. Basically stopped going all together, as the surrounding area is usually nicer, without the tourists. 3 yrs ago, popped into smaller park at Sam Roi Yot, part of the Nat Park system, and nephew had paid before myself & wife had a chance to use my Pink ID. Wife said no thanks, and got a refund. Then gate keeper said no prob, Thai fee for farang. And the park wasn't even worth that. Nephew was out & about with family and camping, and we hung out for the day. Fun day none the less, but he could have pitched his tent surfside anywhere, with nicer beach than what was in the park, as a bit krappy. Nice to have toilet nearby though.
  9. November being one of the worst months to be on Samui. Right now it's krap, and the surf is stirred up:
  10. Real Life ... knock around town range test. WLTP rating @47 kph = 320 kms X 25% = 80 kms Testing level track, no AC, no stop & go. Our 25% battery use @ 40-60 kph, with a very short travel on hwy 4 @ < 90 kph. Testing non level, AC use along with stop & go. MG ZS managed 81 kms using 25% of battery. With MG's estimate of 253/4 to go, for possible 334 vs 320 Kudos to WLTP & MG for providing accurate info. Truth in marketing is refreshing. Even better, the very impressive over the road range posted earlier. 240 kms (80%) + 60 kms (20%) remaining for 300 kms range at an almost constant 90 kph. So on the road, we'll top up around the 200 kms mark. About 3 hrs of driving and we'll need a break by then. Depending how far further down the road, simple top up to get there, or full up with some leg stretching and a munch. Already plotted a course to Krung Thep for daughter visits. About the 200 kms mark, a few CSs there, for short or full top up. Where we stay, there's an MG dealer a few kms away. So a short or full top up there while chillin' in the break room. Impressions so far, very happy with the MG ZS ????????
  11. With that in mind, it doesn't matter, as I was thinking, charging daytime, while home. If you're putting 15-20 back in the grid everyday, than you'll have no problems or noticeable cost adding the EV to you monthly bill. Happy Travels.
  12. I plan on doing the exact same, use the granny charger, as slower is always better on the battery. Only using 2.3kW while charging, leaves plenty for the rest of the house. Using 8kW inverter vs 5kW, but still, leaves 2kW for the house on a 5kW system. Unless running the AC and taking a hot shower or cooking with a 2000w appliance, should be enough. This is my daily run (yellow blocked), with dog to the park, and making sure surf is still there. Usually on the e-motorcycle, but took the MG yesterday, for my unusual longer surfside cruise after the park run. Couple hours of decent sunlight, and that would cover our 12 km daily run, using the MG. We charged up 29% (14.5kW) the other day, with granny charger, from 0800-1600hrs. All things being equal, 29% of 320 kms (WLTP's rating) = 92.8 kms
  13. Agree ... nothing in Patts I need to buy or 'rent' that I can't find here. Never needed P4P, so the Patts economy will have to continue without me ... ???? Nothing there for me to see or do, that isn't better elsewhere at points south of us, or locally.
  14. Hot weather, heavier weight oil. I simply used 30W or 40W auto oil. Chainsaw still works fine after 11ish yrs of use.
  15. This thread's a crack up ... does anyone expect any 'truths' to come out when politicians are involved ???? Reading 'horrific attack' ... to ... 'all calm' when police arrived. Somewhere in between there is a true story, we'll never hear about. Only thing that does seem to be true, another illegal immigrant commits a crime. Might want to close those borders.
  16. That's just some sad A$$ craftsmanship ... ????
  17. Coming back from Krung Thep to PKK, I usually pop into BluPort, and take 37, to avoid the congestion of HH downtown. Actually comes in just below BluPort and need to come back over the RR overpass. Even if the same amount of time, better than higher risk of an oops with so much traffic on PhetKasem rd.
  18. Seems like a giant waste/money grab to me. It would be nice to not have any cross traffic when on 37, but reality, it isn't much difference if going TO Hua Hin. Just Gmapped it for now, and 31 minutes if using 4 direct, with 32 & 40 minutes using alternate routes using 37, using Centara as a destination. Friday night to Sunday evening to/from are going to suck no matter what is done. On a 47 km stretch, doing 120 vs 90 isn't going to amount to much time saved. Especially if going to Hua Hin, as you'd only be on it for half the distance, IF they put exits along the way. Traveling more kms at higher speed is a be defeating.

Mate got popped in UT, and the standard 'real' fine is 3k (2010 ?), although, 20k is needed, and requires an overnight. Next day see judge, 3k fine, 17k returned. The fine itself wasn't much of a deterrent, but his wife ???? was ????

Good, about time they started doing it after the bars closed. Remember Udon Thani, some, most nights, and the wrapped up the operation at 2200 hrs. Licenses & vehicles should be confiscated for 1 year on conviction. Caught 2nd time. lose license & vehicle, permanently.
  21. Did you buy from Xiaomi, as it was only 6500 baht when released May 2020, and that was the 128GB one. Only 5000 baht for the 64GB version. https://www.siamphone.com/spec/redmi/note_9.htm
  22. Pricing for all ... ... thrifty shoppers, will always find bargains ... ignorant shoppers, usually the crybabies ... people with too much baht, they just don't care What's expensive, relative to ? Pattaya, Krung Thep, some metros, one place having it all. Ease of living for a fair price. Location location location Where I am, more 'rural', though can be close to all that's 'needed', except P4P, IF needed. Any more rural, just a few minutes inland, and you'll need transport, and with or without, would bore the hell out of most people needing to be entertained. No condos, so rent only, and a good thing, as doubt most would stay long, thankfully. So cheap to build or rent, BUT, owning a car is usually one's largest expense, whether buy in, financing + operating cost. Patts or a metro, and you can eliminate that expense. I myself couldn't live in Patts, as if I saw 10 farangs in one day, I'd be in a state of depression and desperate to move ????
  23. If it's not a torrent, I don't, can't watch it. Have bunch of music DVDs, but no player since laptops usually don't have. Irrelevant, as haven't seen anything I'd pay 50 baht to watch. If not a torrent, don't think I'd miss anything. All seems to be time killers anyway.
  24. That's one opinion, though I disagree. China first for me, quality & price. Korea & Japan, no particular order, quality, but price, maybe. Last 2 cars, MGs, & E-MB, eBike (Schwinn bike & conv. kit) Phones, Xiaomi Other Xiaomi products; drone, air purifiers, power banks, headphones China; all RC toys, drones, cars, planes, most cams. Thai or China, Sony camera gear, kitchen appliances Korea, ASUS laptops, TVs, maybe action cam Japan, maybe a camera lens or a camera body, maybe USA ... 1 overpriced cast iron skillet (Lodge). krap ele. razor UK/EU ... nothing
