  1. Wow, just think if you thought about stormy high tides before you build the roads and structures surfside. I believe Phuket has a 50 meter building ordinance rule from known high tide marks ... hmm https://phuketrealtor.com/blog/phuket-zoning-map-phuket-realtor
  2. Long distance driving, is a niche market, as few people really need to be on the road more than what the EVs provide now. Development of better battery that can charge faster, under 15 minutes will be more of a priority. Faster charging without degrading the battery is the challenge. Heating up the batteries while charging is brutal to their lifespan. Then there will be the cost for that super fast, safe charging. 1 million baht for a car is silly enough, not sure long range is going to be marketable to us common folks. Pretty high premium to be on the roads more than I want to be in one day. Must be targeted to those marathon drivers wanting to do 1000 kms legs without stopping to drain the dragon ????
  3. Since you are bringing money in anyway (assuming), why not do it, so it's traceable, and you'll be able to free up that 800k or 400k, if partial is need to qualify for extension. Much better alternative than financing anything, especially a MB at their silly rates, unless it's < 3% interest, for a year or so. Statement from Thai bank has to include tracking, from any service is fine, but has to be trackable. Wire transfers, depending should work fine, and most banks let you set up a scheduled transfer monthly. Too easy. Example of info on monthly deposit / tracking statement:
  4. Certainly not happening anytime soon, but interesting concept. Think they'll develop better 'solar cells' that exist now for cars, than waste time on solar paint. "Solar painted vehicles. With some tweaks, solar paint could be a great way to add solar-generating capacity to vehicles." https://www.solarreviews.com/blog/solar-paint-hydrogen-quantum-dot-perovskite-solar-cells
  5. Past 2 yrs, they've missed the mark of every 'millions will be arriving' news blips. This one fits right in with their overly optimistic projections. Don't think anyone believes it, or the people they're trying to convince to visit, and to 'join the party'. Normal folks are dealing with worldwide price gouging, and the HiSo, know there are better option than Thailand to visit. Especially if been there, done that already, why would they return.
  6. I've overheard negotiation with tourist, for price from going from one area to another at Patong or over to Karon or Kata. For some of those prices, you could get a room. I used to drive there, then rent a scooter if wanting to hop around the beaches, as parking wasn't worth the hassle, and 200/250 baht was well worth it to park anywhere. Main reason I stopped going there, simply too crowded, and that was cusp of hi/lo seasons.
  7. Holy Buddha ... what are you thinking OP ? Would you break a mirror purposely ? Don't go down that road, as that string will protect you from evil. Proof of ... first moved to Thailand, house built but 6 months to a year of living in, always a sense of evil about. Had the 'house blessing' 9 Monk chanting away. They strung string around the whole perimeter wall, 160 meters. Sure enough, the evil couldn't take it, and slowly faded, till one day, the wife (1st Thai wife) simply left and never returned. Heavenly Bliss. So no, never take them off, let them fall off naturally.
  8. Taxi mob/mafia is mind boggling. Just think if they worked and provided a competitive service, and developed a repeat business. OK, Most do, and are honest, in Krung Thep anyway, but others, don't help their rep much, with their antics and scamming.
  9. So many folks vax'd (1-2-3-4X) & masked up, and yet ... ... you can't blame everything on us un-vax'd, or unmasked walking around by ourselves with nobody within 50 meters. Practicing social distancing and remaining uninfected. It's a bug, you can't stop it, and the vaccines (new definition of) isn't made to. Just helps fight it ... ???? I think we need to lock down the country again, and allow unrestricted visits (no vax / test) to Phuket. Itching to get back down there if beaches are empty again ... ME ME ME ????
  10. Surely they'll keep price gouging till people stop buying. Why wouldn't they, as they are in control. May become a vegan soon ????
  11. So he had a panic attack, while smoking a doobie. Is that something like dying from covid in a motorcycle accident, because you tested positive, even though your brains are splattered all over the front of that 18 wheeler. I've never been in the company of anyone have a bad experience while indulging. Guess it could happen if a bit unstable already. At least it didn't mention he was arrested for smoking outside the home, though I didn't bother opening the blip.
  12. Not sure there is a fair price at the moment, at least one I'd pay. I enjoy a puff now & then but 500 baht / 1gr (cheapest I noticed) for 1 normal joint, maybe 2 small joints, is a bit much for me. 2 good buzzes maybe for 500 baht ... hmm I don't think I enjoy it that much ... what a CC, but get to save a cough or 2.
  13. Another article stated they signed a deal, but not allowed to post here. Had reason for India, as Musk won't open a factory in any county he's not allowed to sell & service cars in now. Here's a linK https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/tesla-demand-to-start-engine-in-india-manufacturing-only-after-nod-for-sale-services-7941894/ Malaysia is still a big question mark. Porche is opening one there, so maybe he'll just wait & see how they get along. https://www.dsf.my/2021/06/malaysia-might-miss-out-on-teslas-1st-asean-plant-in-2024/ Thailand, possible, as Tesla has signed up to open business here. At least sales & service, and hopefully production in the future. https://www.thaienquirer.com/40419/tesla-thailand-officially-registered-with-3-million-baht-capital/
  14. Tesla went with Indonesia: https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-indonesia-500k-ev-factory/
  15. Drove to Krung Thep from Muang PK, last week, and a few sections were already posted @ 120, Actually may have been first time I've seen the 120 sings. Hwy #4 & #35 Not sure about hwy #37, kind a forget if it was.
  16. Same here, as 1st meal @ 1200 noon-ish, last very lite munch before 2100 hrs. Can't sleep on an empty stomach. Main meal between 1700-1900 hrs Give me about 15 hrs, 6-8 hr while sleeping. Large coffee at sunrise - ish, holds me over till noon.
  17. PTT OR currently has about 190 EV stations across the country but this will be expanded to 450 by the end of the year. https://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/40017322
  18. NO ... I simply posted here (copy of someone else post) from where it was originally posted, as suspect it may be deleted on that thread. Not my post, and I don't agree with or care what spin any anti EV'er states, as usually false, and doesn't apply to me. No surprise he's a mouthpiece of a vested interest group, as they all are.
  19. Soc Sec DD 1 July / ฿34.6376 / $1 USD BBL rate 1 July Earlier in the day:
  20. Tourist spots are not the place to be without a license. Phuket, reportedly the worst.
  21. When leaving, knew I won't be going back. If so, don't know why would be marginalized, though not sure what that means. Would not go back to 'hometown' area, as left there, with no regrets when I did live in the USA. Really can't think of any reason to go anywhere else but here. Only if much younger & obscenely rich.
  22. If so, I've never been stopped leaving, or entering for that matter, though haven't visited since requiring vax or test.
  23. No sense in not trying. At worse, they'll simply turn you around, and maybe a 500 baht fine for no license, and you're on your way back to Phuket beaches. Plenty of them to explore if you haven't yet. Stay a couple nights at each, and you used up a month of holiday.
