I could have easily seen myself living in the Keys, though they were silly priced 25 yrs ago. Also wasn't a mortgage, rooted person in the USA. Even though I owned 3 house (5 units) the tenants paid the very short mortgages, and I never finances a car. Cash guy and only use credit for investment, appreciating assets, that got paid off quick. Think I moved about 15 times in 25 years, before coming here. Number 6 move coming up soon for here, though that will be the last.

I could have easily slept at my last job in the USA (13 yrs at), and been quite comfy, with full bath and food options about. Especially since my work week was usually 2 double shifts, back to back, so 4 shifts (32 hrs) in 2 days, w/ 5 days off. Sometimes it did seem silly going home, though only lived 15 minutes away.

But did they ask you to pay shipping ? Someone tells me I won something and wants an address, then no prob. Someone tells me I won something, when I didn't enter anything, then wants me to pay shipping ... yea ... that a problem.

Triple By-Pass surgery, approximate cost: Govt vs. Private, Isan.
KhunLA replied to dddave's topic in Health and Medicine
Triple bypass / 1 mill, don't know, but sounds about right. How much cheaper would one expect major surgery & recover to cost ? What's the name of hospital, as that will tell you if govt or private. No oops fund (?) and definitely no insurance ... I'll hold my extremely negative rant. -
May have me confused with someone else, as made no suggestion. Simply pointed out old ones still available and OP's 'double price' was a bit off. Surely a beautiful day on the river, no matter which vessel chosen.

A foreigner or anyone dying in a house, with another person, not his / her spouse, will be investigated. Not just a Thai. If a spouse, and not older or obvious natural cause, doc approved, then that would surely be investigated also,

Tourism ministry dual pricing proposal for hotel rates
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
SOP for last 20 yrs. Goes with shopping out of the chain (priced) vendors. I'll walk 10 meters in front, if actually shopping, and call her, to by something I saw. Or ask price, then I'll come back. I don't buy things at markets, unless I already know the Thai price. Not that I do a lot of 'unpriced' shopping anyway. Most things I know anyway. Or I'll simply lurk till a Thai buy, then notice how much they paid and point to the same. Hard to scam when I just saw you make a sale. Kind of weird, and sad, you have to adopt these shopping techniques, to the point it's normal and come natural. -
Thanks for posting, as just ordered some Thai Stick (15-18%) Flower ฿79, shipping ฿60 ???? There is a mini Big C about 5kms away, so driving there in the car would cost ฿40 anyway. Scooter or ebike, < ฿1, but may not have, and no Ph # to ask. All for science of course, as now have something to compare to what is available locally (brick) and of course, what I'll harvest around Xmas.

Yes, most, if not all TH ATMs will disperse 20k baht, or more. BBL will do 25k, I think, as will for 'their' ATM card.

Tourism ministry dual pricing proposal for hotel rates

Disagree. Tourist Tax is fine, and they already have or will for arriving & departing tax has always been there. Different pricing for same services, products (dual pricing) is not a local discount, it's theft. Have to A2D on this one. Supply & demand in a free market, not surcharges because of race, sex, religion, financial status. That's BS -

Been following Paddy Doyle (YT) adventures in Nan ... looking quite nice, and plenty of tourist/groups in the latest vid. Just started the series, and first 4 suck, rain, landslides, flat tires, sorting his scooter. Then he got out into the countryside....WOW, lovely place. Latest 4 are quite nice: https://www.youtube.com/c/PaddyDoyleYT/videos Infrastructure leaves a bit to be desire, but the rest, I can see the appeal. Buddy, ex-regular visitor here, loved Cambo & PI. He won't return to Thailand, although last visit, just prior to covid, he did enjoy Hua Hin, as his regular port of call was Patts, 30 yrs running. -
Baht’s current slide is a grim reminder of its crash 25 years ago
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Here's 5 yr chart, against some of their trading partners. Not sure 'grim' is the best term, good headliner. Down on a few, holding on a few, up on a few. Their recovery, not good, spending, not good, future, also not so good if no major change.
