  6. No I don't but I have a life. You should try getting one sometime, you will enjoy it.
  7. It is a very bold issue to want to get involved with. Before Thailand can be considered as a banking hub a few issues would need to be addressed. For example the attitude towards scams needs a serious looking into. Right now if you give information to a bank regarding scams they do nothing. This is not a good approach if the country wants to be a banking hub. A bank I used to have in the Netherlands, now long closed, advised against having any bank in Thailand as the way the security was at the time meant anyone could pretty much take anything and would be almost certain to get away with it. Thankfully, since that time things have improved a lot. However, sending money out of country or bringing it in, is still not very easy I would doubt if anyone would commit their life savings to putting it all in a Thai bank. Could be good if the many issues surrounding the Thai banking industry can be resolved and tightened up.
  8. If you don' like it change the visa you have next time it needs renewing. If you don't want to do that stop complaining it wont get you anywhere.
  9. Depends on what you want. For me, I have lived in many countries for work and Thailand is the most laid back, accepting and beautiful country I have been to. I must like it, I have been here for over 30 years.
  10. If they want to stop such activity why not put a few crocodiles into the water? It would certainly get peoples attention.
  11. The country does not matter. That number does not conform to international standards. It could be a leased line which would be different. However the +69 prefix relates to Southeast Asia and Oceania. If you want to check a call number try this site https://www.unknownphone.com/?__cf_chl_tk=51qrtdpuXyPzzkl1B1YjhHXVPa7r.xlefthfstX5PR8-1721371019-0.0.1.1-3775 It does a reverse lookup and is free
  12. Cant honestly say I have seen more than usual.
  13. Do we know if anything was taken from the victims? A long time ago there was a guy who was responsible for similar events. He was in jail in Thailand and India which was the last I heard. He did however always get out of jail by bribing guards, at least that was what was reported at the time. Could this be the same guy?
  14. You will never be sure of a fast connection as you are using a network that is used by many other people. If you hit your connection when they is not many many people using the route then it will be fast. If there is a lot of people using the same part of any part of the route it will be slower.
  15. Advice for a new expat coming to Thailand would be if you are not open minded and can accept difference easily then don't bother. Every country has some things which are different from your home country. If you cant accept them don't stay. If you do stay accept life is different but not bad, in fact I would say life here is excellent.
  16. A nice post. Trouble is now many people know who she is and how much she has won. Very soon if not already the begging messages will appear. If you win a significant sum tell no one. That way you wont have people trying to con you out of your winnings.
  17. The thread is for a fast internet connection. Two things here to cover: 1. None of the providers can give you Gb transfer rates, they can only give you a maximum rate. In practice you will not get the maximum rate for a very simple reason. During a connection to a site you are not going to be directly connected no matter what you think. You will pass through other switches and servers before your destination is reached. Your provider can not tell you that will will always be routed directly. As such your speed is the same as the slowest router you pass through. If you get a switch from your provider which you will when you sign up, it is irrelevant what the maximum speed that can provide for the reasons above. Is this explanation clear enough? Without going into fibre characteristics that may or may not be used in parts of the route or the congestion on any one switch within the route and ignoring the data exchange between systems and handshaking within the network.
  18. Yes, but super fast does not exist in a SIM it is the network. Try to understand that.
  19. Speed is one of those things that everyone thinks is super fast. It depends of the route to which you are connected. You can have the "potential" of a very fast connection but in reality you are only as fast as the slower router/server you pass through.
  20. Deaths on the road are only those that actually died at the scene of the accident. It does not count deaths of people involved in road accidents but die in hospital
  21. You will never be considered a local as you are not Thai. Same in many countries. That doesn't mean that the locals wont be pleasant to you as they will if you are decent with them. If you really care about being considered a local then stay in your country of birth.
  22. They are with the latest standards yes but not the older standards which the frequencies quoted would apply to. 4G is pretty old now despite what you think. 5G is soon going to be replaced. Work on a new version is currently underway.
