SWMBO back from Thailand after 6 months.

Ease up on the 'yapping relatives' and your 'welcome relief' may only be slightly degraded. -
Some advice here. This is Brexit-related and for Brits who are EU residents but applies for anyone no longer having a UK holding address for their UK bank. https://international-adviser.com/how-expats-in-eu-are-getting-around-uk-bank-account-closures/ Note the bit about where you open your Revolut account. If it is in the UK, you will get the sort codes that certain UK-based pension providers may need. If you open elsewhere, you will get the IBAN codes that won't work with the above providers.

And maybe you despised the kid in your class who told the teacher, "The dog ate my homework." The police report doesn't need to be factual or even remotely close to the truth. This IS Thailand we're talking about. -

Aha! So it was YOU that introduced the notion that a phone could have been involved. I knew I had read it somewhere in this melange of quibbling armchair detective work masquerading as a critique of Thai journalism. Thanks.

Nationwide Banking App
NanLaew replied to LittleBear57's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I recall you need to have a Thai SIM in your phone to ACTIVATE the Bangkok Bank Bualuang app. Like all banking apps, it's a secure app, not just for browsing the news, listening to podcasts or getting the latest weather. That's why all banks make sure they have the correct mobile number linked to your account. Once it's activated, then yes, these apps will work anywhere in the world where there's internet. -
A whopping three sweeping generalization embracing three nationalities, all in one single post. Who's nasty again?

Confused re 45 day VOE
NanLaew replied to rogerpattaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My 'lucky' check-in was four days after your 'unlucky' check-in on the 16th. I think the luck of the draw may be in who you get at the check-in desk? On another note, looks like Nok's last service to/from SGN will be on 25 March. All dates beyond that are blocked on their online booking calendar and it's been like that since last month. -
Nationwide Banking App
NanLaew replied to LittleBear57's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's not unlikely that banking app security may have changed over 'several years'. Thus for the INITIAL installation and ACTIVATION, there may be issues like the app NOT being available in the Play Store when accessed via a Thai IP address. That is evidence of it being geolocked. My NW banking app was also installed several years ago while I was in the UK and that did need a SIM swap to a UK number for activation. I upgraded to a new phone, again last year while in the UK and all apps, including six banking apps were automatically migrated by Google and installed on the new phone. These all update without issue and are still accessible via a Thai IP address. However, I was unwilling to fall foul of any new rules or security protocols regarding activation of these apps so retain the old phone solely as the 'banking phone'. A workaround for the OP to download and install it may be setting a UK VPN on his PC or laptop, logging into his Google account, finding the NW banking app in the Play Store and selecting which device it should be installed on if his phone shows in the menu of available devices. Then Google will do an OTA installation. The app will still need activation for which the UK SIM may be needed as most banks use short-code SMS for authentication. -

When did you first download and INSTALL it on your Thai phone? -
I have never heard of a 3.4 second W10 start-up, I am not saying it's not possible, but sounds a bit impossible to me..... W10

Me too, last month, from HCMC on Nok as well. -
I worked on a few projects last year with a Russian/Ukrainian team: Russian boss with Russian and Ukrainian subordinates. They worked well and had a common opinion on the war and who the ultimate losers were. After dinner discussions were all about sharing plans for not going home and the best places to relocate their families. We also had Polish team who seemed to have more of an issue with the Russian guys and a different opinion on who was to blame.

émigrés The Russians and Ukrainians have also flooded Bali and there's a growing call for Indonesian immigration to repeal their visa-on-arrival due to abuses of those visas with many of these emigres working illegally.

All mandates cease on death. In the UK a joint account does not form part of the deceased's estate and the survivor is entitled to the residual balance under the rules of survivorship. Correct. Note that I said the paper chase was needed to maintain my mothers access to the account. She had access to the funds immediately after my father passed and the local branch staff were absolute stars when it came to support at a tumultuous time. But, they still had to be formally notified of my father's passing and steps taken to ensure that she had enduring access to these funds under the rules of survivorship. If they hadn't been notified, she would have had an issue if a new debit card or check book was needed or canceling one of her late husband's standing orders.

Maybe so, but you're still awesomely quick to grab the wrong end of the stick. I never worked on Fleet Street but I do have an SCE Higher (A-level) band A in English which included comprehension in the 5-year syllabus. Thus my comprehension, like a few others on here, is that the sister of the dead balcony jumper was the one reported to have been talking on her own phone to her own boyfriend when her sister who was not talking to anyone on any phone jumped off the balcony.

Read the post. He already said he's not looking to save money, he just wants the quickest way there. And he also said he's staying near the Shangri-La. Thanks for the correction of my speed-reading induced oversight. Since it's not a money thing and considering it is rush-hour, I amend my post accordingly. If I had the wonga to afford a stay at the was staying near the Shangri-La, I wouldn't be faffing with trains and meter taxis. I'd be using the AOT limo service's BMW 7-series.

As U get older ,have you become a dilligaf ?

It's not about the OP's health, it's about You're well-entrenched in the dilligaf camp if you didn't even read beyond the OP's first paragraph before posting.
