  1. Even before we get to sentencing, their defence lawyer has bizarrely offered that her client (guy in blue) didn't realise that they were police. "Rosemary Fernandes, representing Amaaz, put it to PC Ward that her client was "taken by surprise" at the ticket machine and was “shocked". She said: "It is important you identify yourselves as police officers, isn't it?" PC Ward said: "I don't think we had any time to do that. We didn't have any time for rational discussion with this male as it turned violently quickly." Ms Fernandes said: "I put it to you that the defendant believed he was being attacked from behind and it all happened extremely fast. "It is the defence's case that he punched you in lawful self-defence on the basis that you were an assailant. Do you have any comment on that?" PC Ward said: "I don't know how he felt I was an assailant. "He turned towards me and punched me in the face. "He could see I was a police officer and he could see I was a female as well." ..." Looking at the video, BOTH of these dim bulbs turned and saw these were police officers. The 'guy in blue' carried on kicking and punching AFTER he had decked three police officers. Laughable... Don't you worry your pretty little head @BarraMarra, I don't think that this nonsense will secure the not guilty verdict that you are craving for. https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/2080296/bloodied-female-police-officer-sobs-manchester-airport-brawl
  2. OK, apart from @transam, hands up all those who are pissed off with @BarraMarra repeatedly telling @josephbloggs to FO, just because @BarraMarra's endless loop of witless arguments are laughably weak and @josephbloggs keeps calling him on it?
  3. BTW, there's some lengthy clips from the existing video, plus police bodycam running now on the Daily Express.
  4. "Avoid sunlight, heat and chemicals (as the latter may interact badly with the ones we already put in)"
  5. It wasn't in Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos.............................more so now. At least we aren't as bad as it is in Malaysia for bread. I don't think it's a case of their not catering for bread lovers, as much as they simply despise them.
  6. Cut Donald some slack willya? After all, isn't Liberia one of those African countries that he famously called 's***hole' a short while back?
  7. I dropped by Bartels for lunch while waiting for an appointment at the Philippine Embassy next door. Very impressed. So much so, I went back in the afternoon and bought a couple of their sourdoughs to take home to Isaan.
  8. Laos has a legacy of decent bread due to the French colonisation. However, it's been a long time since I had those delightful, freshly baked, slightly crusty home-made croissants on Vientiane.
  9. It is possible the RD has their oar in the water, and despite backpedalling and/or mooted changes to what they started this year, and their oar apparently dead in the water, it still can't be ruled out.
  10. In the US and the UK, they 'run to' the ER. Typically, a Thai only needs a doctor's note if they are going to be off for three days or greater, but some employers may run a tighter ship. I agree that working on one's own natural immunity, be it through dietary or lifestyle changes, should get much more emphasis than it does. But unfortunately, that doesn't seem to have much traction in the western/civilised world, let alone Thailand.
  11. I have to agree. Since covid is now endemic, these updates on non-virulent variants only serves to dumb-down people's awareness and any claims that it reminds people to keep maintaining the hygiene procedures in place isn't proven. As far as I am aware, there's been no mandatory need to keep getting vaccinated anywhere, and the original 2 shots + 1 booster is still the global standard. They have been tweaking the influenza shots for decades, but I haven't seen any announcements that indicate they are doing the same with covid shots. Won't these ineffective vaccine shots weaken the body's own natural immune system? Or is that vaccine conspiracy theorist rhetoric? They should only issue a warning when there's a significantly more virulent variant doing the rounds.
  12. Despite the predictably 2-tier posting on this thread, I agree that the punishment could be inadequate and disappointing. However, beating up some 2-tier police officers may impact the 2-tier punishment meted out.
  13. And what precise value does this unattributed "site I come across" offer to this discourse? It's probably already inadmissible at the trial. We already know and agree they are BS'ing scumbags and need to do time.
  14. My experience of seeking a US visa is that it's best done in the applicants home country. My wife's US visa application was declined in Beijing (where I was working and she was visiting) but was approved in Bangkok the following year (where neither of us were working, but both living). Other members comments about ensuring that the visa officers are aware of you (her husband's) immigration status in Thailand, including proof of that's where the family home is, shouldn't be ignored. This was also important when securing her UK visit visa and satisfying the question of ties to Thailand and her reason to return here. She's a housewife and mum from Isaan by the way. Loves fishing and going foraging with her mum. No "corporate job" or multiple property deeds. None that I know of anyway.
  15. Good grief. She probably not only broke your heart, she must have ripped it out and stomped it flat. Expensive was it?
  16. The problem is with Thailand's LM laws. Regardless of what Hun Sen says, it's not going to get any mainstream or social media bandwidth legally here, where it probably matters. Catch yee-sihp song?
  17. Why do you suggest that the military has a dog in this geopolitical fight? When the Profumo Affair broke, the British military weren't party to the investigation and prosecution. By saying the military needs to scrutinise this, along with the people (fat chance of the latter ever being listened to), aren't you just pandering to the loyalist, royalist camp?
  18. What's your problem with "Issarn" exactly? Meanwhile... And she got a visa with only two questions asked.
  19. Christ on a bike, we already know and agree on what sort of man these awful thugs are. Sorry if I'm not too good at stooping to your lower level of rationale.
  20. Police officers in uniform. Their job description doesn't say, because you're weaker, keep to the back when in a confrontation and call a male officer to help. One of them is a trained firearms officer. Does her job description say, only pull your weapon after a male colleague says it's ok? And your totally wrong about my stance on transgenders in sports, not that it's relevant here. Now, stop clutching your pearls. It's not manly.
  21. And male soldiers shouldn't fire on female soldiers. Yeah, right. I'm pretty sure WPc Ellie Cook and WPc Lydia Ward would resent your labeling them as being "weaker."
  22. It is a tad early, but I get a rental so transportation isn't an issue...but I would still get to my destination before daylight. Might have to tap into the duty free before the pub opens.
  23. The fraud was carried out online and on Australian victims. Why would the RTP have any primary interest? Just another retiree, pitching his tent on their turf. As long as his immigration status was sound, there wasno need to suspect him of anything. Four vehicles totaling a little over 2 million so no red-plated 7 series Beemer or Lambo. Just some Toyotas.
  24. Aha! It worked. Give things an American name and nobody thinks it may be a German mastermind.
