  1. That couple with the big black woman and the skinny black guy was embarrassing. She was acting like they were having a good wild time but it felt sad. At least they both spoke English however! Similar to the “silent meals” we all see around Thailand where the couple just sits there and says nothing. I’m not sure what people get out of these situations. Sex is one thing, but just dragging someone around in public that has no interest is weird!

That works if you don’t have dementia or memory issues can can still remember what your doing!
  3. Yep, but you live on the outskirts. I feel like I’m beating a dead horse here ???? ????. I will try one last time to explain. The message I wanted to get out was that even if you have a nice living situation it’s not very possible to ignore the environment that it’s in. In other words, there’s no free lunch. I’m paying less for a nice place, but paying more in other ways by not enjoying the city outside my unit as much (I moved to get a nicer condo but could not ignore the location). That’s not a good idea unless one sits in their condo all day! ???? No one’s fault but mine. I will try better next time. Maybe I will be happier in a smaller cheaper condo in a better area or maybe I will just damn the torpedoes and get a nice condo in a city I like better even if it’s more expensive. I only live once! Only 8 months to go, so not a huge problem. Will try to have fun while I’m here and enjoy myself as much as possible and not constantly complain, but Pattaya is not for me long term. Like you said, I also want to meet someone genuine if I can’t go back to the USA before I get too old. That means living and dating somewhere normal, not hookers working in bars, or people the look normal but sideline on beach road occasionally, etc.
  4. ??? ???? Huh, I don’t like the bars. Like I said before I got a nice condo in center, because it would cost much more in BKK, but found I don’t like the Pattaya area. That’s probably why condo’s are cheaper in Pattaya. Go figure!
  5. ??? I guess it’s possible, but very unlikely at my age. Finding a woman from the USA or a western country is not likely for me in Thailand. There’s just not really enough western women around to choose from. Even if that happened we still could not own land and a house. Your right though, CM and BKK are much better for meeting regular people. People in Pattaya have a lot of underlying problems, financial & otherwise. There’s something not quite right about people that just want to party all the time or live that lifestyle. It’s like they are trying to forget problems they have by distracting themselves with sex & alcohol.
  6. They get pretty skint over there. Could have really needed the money. I think there are areas where they live out in a field and there are flies on the people and the food and people are VERY skinny and dying. Of course, it can be faked, but probably not.

I have parents in the USA who did an early inheritance for some relatives so they could buy a home nearby to help out as they aged. They turned it around now, found a reason to be angry and not speak, and won’t lift a finger now to help out. Won’t even pick up the mail, etc. Watch out who you give your money too. Things change and you can’t get the money back!
  8. I wonder how the country is for white guys who like black women?
  9. There’s no reason why this would only occur in Thailand. This is real primal stuff. In the animal kingdom it’s not uncommon for the male to offer gifts for a possible mating opportunity. What seems odd about Africa is that there don’t seem to be a lot of gay guys going over there and that it’s primarily women going. The gay guys have taken over in places like PV in Mexico. Then again there does not seem to be many Uk lesbians in Pattaya.
  10. I think the Uk is really low on the scale of getting laid, maybe worse then the USA. It’s kind of cold & drizzly a lot of the time which makes people kind of depressed and have sex less often. I had a neighbor from the Uk when I lived in CM. He was constantly having sex all the time, doing outdoor photo shoots where he would hang a sheet up for privacy, etc.
  11. Don’t tip. It’s an insult.
  12. Has the op lived in Pattaya before? Maybe needs to do a month stay before signing a year lease. One sure thing about Pattaya is there is a large contingent of people/vloggers etc always harping on how great the place is, maybe people coming in for short stays who are horned up about a holiday or people trying to earn a living off YouTube. He needs to think about living here long term.
  13. Can he do it at a land border or does it need to be at an airport?
  14. Big C sells powdered milk. The box has people running on it.
  15. I think a lot of my dissatisfaction is not being able to buy a piece of land and a house here and really settle in. I think I will end up eventually going back to the USA and buying a piece of property, like a cabin on a couple acres or something. I have been in Thailand around 10 years and was happy the first 7 or so but it’s been downhill ever since the pandemic hit. I also don’t like the idea of getting old alone here without a family or support system. At least in the USA I would have a permanent property, could dig in and take it from there. It’s getting to the time I need to start thinking about that. In Thailand I’m renting places but it feels transitory even on a year lease. I also don’t want to live forever in a condo.
  16. Sounds like he will get the full year as long as he enters before the expiration date on the visa sticker and the visa letter says multiple entry and he has the stamped letter from the insurance company. Once the permission to stay date is stamped in at the airport all that is required are the 90 day reports.
  17. Perching on the wires above walking street like a vulture is not exactly normal either. ????
  18. Uh huh, I’m not like that at all. I think that may be one factor why I don’t really like living in Pattaya. I don’t like other people much in general. Seems like Pattaya is full of people that like to cahoot. That’s what the bar scene is, mostly. I like being on my own in nature better, at least in my native country. It’s hard to do in a foreign country though. I feel like I need to be in the city to access food, etc, esp with no driving license, the language barrier, just the weirdness of being way out there in a foreign land…
  19. You mean “relationships” with other foreigner males? That’s weird. What do you mean, just normal friendships? ????????‍♂️
  20. This is a discussion among men. Would you like to contribute, man?
  21. It’s very rare for an owner to keep a unit off market and only offer “personal recommendations” or ask for references. It does happen with heirloom properties, but I can’t see it happening in Pattaya at all. In Pattaya people want units rented asap. It’s a commodity. Available units hit the real estate agent listings straight away and there is a frenzy to rent out the most desirable ones immediately before the next guy gets it. The box cutters just sit there and lose interest or short time Chinese rent out by the week.
  22. You would be wasting time in that case viewing different units without seeing pictures first, but I guess that would work if you were really set on living in a particular building and had visited it before or saw pictures of the building. I like to see pictures of the available units and narrow the choices rather then touring all day on rooms I may not like. I also like to see everything available at once not just what someone chooses to show me.
  23. The online listings in Thailand are rarely updated and current. Owners and realtors self post and don’t take them down. Often they are years old clickbait listings just referring you to an agent. The sites don’t police the listings. I have had a lot of experience with this. Try it and see if it works for you, but your likely going to wonder why it’s a dead end, why it’s “never available” for some reason, if your lucky enough to get a response at all. You need an agent who has current listings and is in constant contact with available units and which ones are coming available soon so you get one before it gets snatched up by someone else. Thats what I have been saying on every post.

My worry is what do I do if I’m in Thailand and need some sort of care suddenly where I could not plan for it. I don’t have anybody here to step in and my family in the USA would not house or support me. I would be limited to calling an ambulance and transferring me into some kind of assisted living facility is not covered. If it happened back in the USA a public social worker would step in on the government dime. Here it’s just a nothing burger. What then, who knows.
