How does that work if you’re happy being left alone? Not everyone wants a greeting or smile everywhere they go. They want privacy, and not to stand out in any way. Unfortunately, privacy is at a premium and you have to pay an arm and a leg for it. just ask the guy who was looking over at my balcony and smiling. He acts friendly but I can’t stand the guy. I like my balcony completely private without having to grow a forest of trees on it so I don’t see the guy. here’s hoping he will”just go away” with a friendly smile, but I doubt it. He want to get back that response now more then ever. Telling him to fuk off may work but it seems unfriendly.

Are you happy?…. I always like it when your happy….????????????

Why don’t you go sit on that kaestsin road near the police box and ask them who they are? just don’t walk in, you need a motorbike. It’s too far, plus the roving packs of wild dingos will bite your legs. get a map and figure it out if you can read one. It’s not hard, but it’s a hell of a hike up that hill. Good luck.

Moving away from center is not an option. I’m not interested in walking in the heat everyday for food and groceries or driving a motorbike or bolt taxi in and out for every meal or errand. I have done that before and it’s not easy in the heat. A lot of these guys like Pratumnak or Wongamat but they are driving in and out all day for food. I’m not a commuter. It’s hard to find a perfect place.

There’s a fool wanting to buy a bar. That’s where the customer comes from.

If a cute young waitress is smiling at you it’s probably because your a creepy old guy!

I wanted to but the standard of living I am comfortable with was to expensive in Bangkok. I looked around and needed about 25-30k for a good condo in center. I chose Pattaya because I got a nice condo for cheaper, but don’t really like the area I’m in. I also chose Pattaya just because it was an easy move from Bangkok and I was very tired of moving around and wanted stability. I’m getting a little older so being on the road all the time is not as easy. I should have just rented places monthly and checked out Hua Hin, instead of signing a one year lease. I had good feelings about Hua Hin because there’s less low life stuff and looks like it has more class and quality people. I’m stuck here for the year now because I paid two months deposit I want to get back.

Casual sex actually gets old and boring quickly.

But it’s always a big mystery. Your doing nothing but going to bars and drinking. Admit it. There’s nothing but bars there. You duck.

He tried that already. Nothing but bars. Try again or not at all. Give some suggestions or there’s not plenty to do. Here’s a hint: he does not want to walk around the mall all day either.

Like what? Temples? You left that important point out of your speech.

Digital nomads in Thailand

Not necessarily. I’m asked pretty often what I do. Avoiding the question takes skill and practice. Make sure to say nothing to real estate agents and landlords and anyone doing immigration reporting where there could be problems later with deposits, home repairs, whatever. They like to know about income when renting. Easy answer is you do nothing, you’re retired. -
Is there anybody here that actually enjoys living in central Pattaya? I have been here for about 3 months and I’m not really enjoying myself much at the bars or just around the central area. I have a nice condo, but it feels like the bars are all the same when I go out and I’m just drinking and doing the same old thing each time. I goto bars and there are girls there but it’s the same stupid bar talk each time and the same drinks. My understanding is places like Pratumnak, Jomtein or the darkside would be even worse if the crush of bars was not there (more entertaining to have them in walking distance, then not). I’m feeling like Pattaya is not for me or I misjudged the living situation. I’m staying in my condo more and more and not really wanting to go out much. I do like big cities and lived in nyc many years and had a good time. There I was kind of meeting new people, hooking up later, or going to different venues etc that made a big difference. In Pattaya it’s like I am just popping into oriented bars and it feels empty.

Wait until you see the alternatives, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, other cheap places. At least in Thailand you can kind of hole up in a decent place and ignore the rest when you need to. That’s a luxury.
-
It’s not going to be so funny when you end up there. You must have gone over there for some reason, maybe seeing your future, as a backup plan or what if scenario? These places have a way of calling you. You can fight it but somehow it becomes a sensible option.

Philippines is a step down, buddy. Now if you can’t afford Thailand give it a try. No free lunch. We are talking about a lot more trash, crime, unsanitary conditions, etc. You won’t get something just like Thailand for cheaper, you will get cheaper!

Does not work. The owner cooks the books or they act real rushed and confused, talk when your there, etc so you can’t review them properly and carefully.

It gets worse, actually. Flybird and places like Pattaya Pad you walking a long way to get food and stuff. Nirun at least you have food and necessities outside there! Or can hobble into town or the big c food court in an emergency. (Helps if your poor and mobility impaired). If you like skint places just walk east of Nirun towards third road. Places like Pattaya pad and Spanish place and just skint buildings with no name. That’s where the real down n’ out foreigners live. You can see just concrete balconies with laundry there, water leaking and just dashed champagne wishes & caviar dreams for a luxury retirement! Tell ‘em robin leech sent you!

Not necessarily and too simplistic. If the system does not work mistakes get made or one is unable to report properly, you can get stuck in there. Not a perfect system. It’s good to have a small property in your home country you can deport back to, otherwise your stuck with nowhere to go.

Extra-long weekend in Thailand: here’s what you need to know

Even during the holiday my condo has people watching the place. It’s like they need to watch the foreigners every day. Nobody gets in or out without been seen.
