  1. It’s the entitled generation.
  2. Are they below you? Take a dump. If they complain, it was a bird.
  3. I don’t know. Why don’t you ask HIM?
  4. I just got a policy with a high deductible/no outpatient, just for something serious. Anything else I pay out of pocket. My line in the sand is when premiums would require tapping into savings. In that case the insurance would be downgraded further or cut. What you want to avoid in the present is running out of money. You never know if your going to get sick or not. The important thing is not drawing down your savings.
  5. I agree. The problem is moving around constantly gets too expensive and tiring as I get older.
  6. He won't fake anything though. Won't even go to AA because of the prayers.
  7. It’s primarily a sex tourism destination. There’s better deals on the stuff you mentioned elsewhere.
  8. If that’s really true. Many of the conservatives in my country complain about the welfare system food stamps, poor people getting all kinds of free benefits, blah blah blah. The reality is those complaining people have never been poor and don’t understand the realities of the welfare system, how hard it is to beat the system and get benefits, it’s not all that easy… The Uk free housing thing sounds like this kind of complaining to me, though I can’t say for sure as I’m not from the Uk.
  9. I had a relative that was non religious that went through the AA process. He said the prayers did help, even though he did not believe in God. Don’t get your panties in a pinch about wording. It’s just calling on assistance in whatever way you want that to be, just like your doing posting here.
  10. Maybe the best thing to do is ask for them to do their own exam. If the exam comes up clear they approve afterwards, not before. That way there is no “going back later to find things”. You know if you are covered or not and you’re not put in a middleman position of transcribing medical records for them and making mistakes.
  11. In the USA you need to give permission for records disclosure. They don’t just give it to anyone who asks! They are VERY strict about disclosure. Good luck any company here that wants past records without permission looking for past ailments. You get nothing!
  12. Time waster. I tried 3 banks all needed COR. Glad you got lucky though.
  13. Makes me wish I was from the Uk. You won’t get squat in the USA turning up skint. You would be under a bridge. Social programs do exist in theory but they are backlogged and very hard to take advantage of if your already down & out. Best to access them before you run out of money, not after.
  14. I think the certificate is only valid for 90 days.
  15. They may note on the certificate the bank to practically guarantee they open it. Good to have.
  16. Another option is Vietnam. They extended the tourist visa to 90 days. It’s not hard to get an english teaching gig there and and they actually pay well. What’s a flight cost 1000 baht? Get a duper cheap Airbnb in Hanoi for $200 usd or so. You have 90 days to get a job and they sort the long term visa for you. Do you have a college degree? It’s even easier. It won’t be easy with a heart problem if your older, but if you were young you could hit the ground running and make it work.
  17. Not easy at all when you can’t take a shower and have no stable address. If they give him housing though I’m sure he could find something.
  18. I wonder why he would return to the Uk to pay 400 quid, that’s about 18k baht? You can get a nice place in Thailand for that much.
  19. How long has this construction been going on? Complaints and they need to tear it down or keep modifying it. ????
  20. Is your upcoming pension enough to live on in Thailand? May 2024 is not that long at all. You could rough it out in Cambodia for the cost of your flight home maybe. How much is your return flight ticket going to cost? You can live in Cambodia for basically nothing. Rooms up on victory hill, sihanoukville were dirt cheap (maybe $60 a month, that was years ago). Probably better then going back to an expensive country with nothing if your medical issue is solved. It’s a step down. Many broke expats there just drinking and dying, but it’s better then living on the streets.
  21. Usually it does not matter much as long as I’m served promptly, and well.
  22. If the medical is being done in the Uk then the hospital is your first resource. Social workers would be there to link you up with whatever free resources you qualify for. If your just going back because your out of money you hit the ground running. That means minimal luggage or just a shoulder bag, hitch hiking into a large city, finding a dry safe place for shelter like under a bridge where one sided is protected. Get cardboard, built what shelter you can. In the morning hit garbage cans behind restaurants for food. Find other camps and integrate into a community of homeless where others know where to get food and water. Follow what others do. Survive. Your safer together, alone your vulnerable. Build from there. Good luck.
  23. There’s no reason why you could not wai down. I have never seen it done and it would be insulting. It would be saying something like you deserve to be lower towards the feet and the ground. The fingers could be pointed down and move towards the feet, rather then up as usual.
